Chapter Text
The hot scorching sun blazed down on everybody at the park. It was packed, a little too packed it seemed like everybody decided to come out and enjoy the sun. Although there were many people, it was still somewhat peaceful.
I had decided to come out to sketch outside for a change, tired of being cooped indoors for so long. Between college work, working part-time for my dad, and the gym, I rarely had time to do some of the things I liked. Although my brother insisted I not work because he could provide for me, I don't want Jin to feel like he has to work harder to put up with my load. I also enjoyed being able to avoid interacting with my brother and friends.
I sighed as I put the sketchbook down, looking out at all the couples. My heart yearned for a connection like that, a soulmate. For centuries people have been receiving soulmate marks, a simple tattoo-like marking of your soulmate's full name somewhere on your body, some people had more than one. The mark usually comes in when one turns 18, but even though I turn of age in about two months, I find myself feeling uneasy about my mark.
Will it be him? I doubt it would be, our bond is broken since he decided he didn't want me. One of my brothers' friends, Taehyung, confessed and revealed his soulmate mark to us when he freshly turned 18. On his arm was my name, Jeon Jungkook, at the time I was 15. Feeling incredibly happy I accepted his date invitation and we were inseparable for months. The happiness was short-lived when I found him in bed with Park Jimin.
Park Jimin at the time was Min Yoongi's soulmate, Yoongi Hyung being Namjoon's best friend. This caused a great ripple in our friend group, more so because Yoongi Hyung and I found out that everybody seemed to know about Tae and Jimins constant flirting and occasional hookups. They claimed it wasn't their place to tell and were giving them a chance to confess, but Tae and Jimin never seemed to "find the right time".
It was the ultimate betrayal for me. Jimin was my best friend, literally since diapers, Taehyung was my soulmate, and Jin was my brother, it felt like I couldn't trust anybody in my life. Ever since then, I distanced myself from them and tried to focus on healing myself. My main form of self-care being the gym.
My bond with Tae was ultimately broken meaning I no longer had a soulmate. I had no soulmate while he and Jimin have been going strong since they stabbed me in the back.
I looked down at the ground, finally regrouping my belongings, ready to go back. Thinking about everything again brought tears to my eyes, scolding myself for being weak, I dusted myself off and made my way home.
Life goes on.
