Work Text:

Heavy footsteps thumped along the catwalk. “Aww, come on, Monty, stop- we’re friends~” an airy voice teased as his sore-loser friend chased after him. “YA HAD TA HAVE CHEATED!” The gator exclaimed, frustrated. “Montyyyy~” Familiar sunset-hued eyes glistened with fond mischievousness. The bunny let out a yelp as the gator tackled him playfully to the ground. “Pfft, I’m sorryyy alright, now let me up, big guy!” the rabbit laughed. The gator couldn’t help but stare down at him with a softness he’d never say out loud.

Heavy footsteps thundered along the catwalk. “Come on… Monty, stop! We’re friends-“ a frantic voice huffed as his longtime companion chased after him. “Disassemble Bonnie,” the gator repeated, monotone. “Monty!!” All too familiar sunset eyes glistened with a building dread. The bunny let out a scream as the gator tackled him roughly to the ground. “MONTY, I-I’m sorry- please fight it, I know you’re in there- THIS ISN'T YOU-“ the rabbit pleaded. The gator couldn’t stop his body from snarling down at his friend’s broken body with a blazing malice glowing magenta in his usually-crimson eyes, so contrary to the typical softness that the bunny was met with. A softness the gator would never get to say out loud.

These broken, static-filled memories wouldn’t stop playing on repeat in his head— well, what was left of his head. One scarlet eye stared blankly ahead into blurry, murky water. These last few moments of clarity— probably triggered by the surge of power— felt like an eternal damnation spanning lifetimes. Every artificial nerve in the scrap-heap remaining of his body was firing off fried signals screaming [ERROR], [ALERT], and things of the sort on repeat; none of them mattered. He didn’t give a damn about any feeling. Not anymore. Except one train of thoughts. A particular train of errors repeating over and over. [MONSTER]. [KILLER]. [MURDERDER].

He’d give anything and everything to go back.
