Chapter Text
The year was 2004. It had been six years since the Raccoon City outbreak, a night that Agent Leon S. Kennedy would never forget for the rest of his life. The memory always lingered, never leaving, no matter how much he tried. Not even the whiskey washed it all away.
The next thing Leon knew, he was in the middle of nowhere Spain. Now tasked with saving Ashley Graham—the U.S. President's daughter. It was some interesting name called Valdelobos, Leon couldn't even pronounce it well anyways. His Spanish was mediocre at best. As he knew it, one minute he was in a car, the next in some run down and rotting cabin in the middle of the woods, and then in some hellish like village with zombie like people all trying to kill him.
He traveled through the village, everything smelled like rot, death, and decay. It would have made Leon vomit everything up in his stomach if he wasn't already used to the smell—of course it still didn't exactly make him feel any less grossed out by it all.
Leon avoided explosions, bear traps, mobs of villagers who spoke in incoherent Spanish that he could barely understand, and finally ended up in some random burnt down lake house to shelter himself from the mob outside. Everything was ruined in there. Wood falling down from the ceiling, all crumbling down in piles with termites taking their claim on chewing it up.
How this house hadn't already collapsed yet was a miracle of itself, there were stray piles of ash collecting on the floor, cobwebs strung all across the ceiling, and somehow a preserved chemistry set on a messed up desk.
"Jesus...this whole place went through the gutter..." Leon muttered to himself before finding a framed photo on the same desk. Leon picked it up and examined it—it was a young boy sitting with what seemed to be his grandfather. They had relatively stoic faces, and the photo had looked like it was taken back in the 19th century.
To a certain extent, it made sense. The village was in the absolute middle of nowhere, they barely had any modern technology—if hardly at all. They were living in a past time in a modern day world. Hell, Leon thought they probably never even saw his type of gun before.
Leon just put the photo back face down how he found it before checking everything else out. He found a bed—somehow it looked like it was used. There was a small mug on the bed frame, and a cocoon of pillows and blankets all bunched up. "Wonder if someone's staying here..." Leon spoke to himself again, all he was met with was silence, until he heard a loud banging noise from the room ahead.
Leon perked up and readied his pistol as he moved the crumbling bookcase away from the doorway and cautiously made his way over to what the noise seemed to be. It was a villager trying to break some kind of trap door with an axe. Leon huffed to himself as he aimed his gun and shot the man in the head twice. He fell down with a small slump and laid there—unmoving.
Leon lightly moved the body away with his leg before stomping down on the wood and removing off the top of the trap door, and he hopped down into a dark, underground area.
Leon clicked his flashlight on and searched underground, there were random cages and piles of rubbish everywhere—but the one thing that stood out was a large sack that was squirming, and Leon could have sworn he heard muffled screaming.
He then kneeled down and used his head to keep his flashlight upright as he untied the ropes and got the top of the sack off so he could see the person's face.
There was a piece of duct tape across the man's mouth, he had wide grey eyes that were just pleading to be helped—of course that was already obvious by his muffled voice. He had short, slightly curly brown hair with slight curtain bangs that framed the sides of his face, and a beard that wasn't overly grown, but it seemed well kept. Leon ripped the tape off and the man gave a sigh of breath.
"Oye! That hurts you know!"
"Well, it seemed like you really wanted to talk." Leon quipped back with a bit of a frown.
"So observant you are, señor. Just one question, you got a smoke?" Leon lightly rolled his eyes, although it was a bit humorous to him that instead of worrying about getting out of these bindings or living for that matter, the guy wanted a smoke of all things.
"Got gum." Leon replied dryly, and the man sighed. "Bummer, maybe just untie me then, hm?" Leon nodded at that as he moved to help him out.
The man looked past Leon's shoulder as his eyes widened in fear. "Joder! Not this guy again!" He shouted and moved away as much as he could—although limited since he was up against a wall.
Leon whipped his head around before being met with yet another man, except this one was more unnerving. He was a rather tall man, almost reminiscent of the Tyrant Leon had faced back in Raccoon City. He had a long, black but slightly greying beard, long black clothes, some sort of hat, but the oddest thing of all was a fake red eye in his left eyesocket. It stretched the eyelid a bit, so while his normal eye was, obviously, a normal shape, the other was wide. It made him all the more unsettling.
Leon pulled his gun out and pointed it at him. "Stop right there!" He shouted, but it was of no use. The man picked him up by the neck and flung him across the underground room, and it broke several boxes along the way. Leon's head slumped down as his vision went black. Soon, a syringe was carefully inserted into Leon's neck, and along with it, something that would become a life changing threat.

When Leon woke up again, he was in a different spot. He felt sore, and his neck feeling a little weirder than usual. He slightly ignored it because when he looked up, he noticed that his hands were cuffed to a chain. "Come on...what the fuck?" He grumbled and tugged on the chain, which earned a groan from someone behind him.
"Hey! Stop it!" The man behind him hissed out, it was the same guy in the sack from earlier. "You move, I move, and I'm beat up enough as it is." He sighed as Leon stood up and observed his surroundings.
"Oye, Yanqui, got a name?" The man asked as he was practically forced to stand up too.
"Leon." He bluntly stated, he was about half paying attention to what the guy was saying. Leon was more focused on getting the hell out of there and back to the mission at hand—saving Ashley.
"I'm Luis Serra...I suppose you..me...we picked the wrong spot to vacation, eh?" He rambled his mouth, Leon sighed to himself as he kept tugging on the chain. He half debated finding that piece of duct tape again and putting it back on the guy's mouth.
Leon gave another hard pull on the chain, and Luis groaned again. "What did I just say?! You move, I move!" He frowned a bit as Leon just kept tugging at the chain. There was a small wheel at the top of the ceiling, it was rusted and seemed like it was on its last leg.
Luis smacked his lips and nodded, "I can..see...your thinking now." He hummed and looked back to Leon with a cocky smirk. "I bet you've been in spots like this before, hm?" He lightly flirted, although Leon just ignored it as he tugged on the chain again.
"Hm...I wonder what you're even here for anyways. Maybe...you're looking for someone?" Luis inquired, and Leon just tugged the chain a little more. "One more guess, maybe, a missing señorita?" He had a bit of a smirk on his face as Leon finally acknowledged his existence and looked back at Luis.
"A young girl?" He asked, a bit hopeful as he turned around and tugged Luis closer to him to speak. "Talk, now."
"Alright...see, I heard something about moving a señorita.." Luis explained as now they both worked together to get the chain to break the wheel. "Something about..moving her to the old Church!—" The wheel finally gave in and broke before Luis lost his balance and fell to the floor.
"Mierda...hanging with you? Not healthy—"
"Luis! Watch out!" Leon called out as he tugged on the chain and dragged Luis over to him. One of the villagers had walked in and was now aggravated at the fact that they were escaping. Luis frantically stood back up and the two both worked together to try and kill the guy.
They stood on opposite ends of the room, Leon wrapped the chain around the villager's neck and they both tugged on it as hard as they could. The villager was weakly swinging at Luis with his axe, and when the asphyxiation wasn't working fast enough—Leon grabbed the chain and stomped on it with the full force of his knee, and a loud crack could be heard from the guy's neck breaking as he fell to the floor with a thud.
Luis frantically ran for the key as he unlocked the cuffs on his hands and threw them off as he backed away from Leon a bit. Leon turned around and furrowed his brow as he tried to bolt for Luis. "Hey, we're not done here!" He gritted out as Luis held the key teasingly.
"Hm..." Luis hummed and twirled it around his finger. "What do I get out of it, Yanqui?" He smirked again and looked back to Leon.
"The hell you mean 'what do I get out of it?' Give me the goddamn key, Luis." Leon frowned and glared at him.
"Wow, didn't know Americans were so feisty! Here, I have a deal for you. If you let me tag along with you...and..you offer me your protection, I'll give you the key, hm?" Luis offered his proposition and took a step forward.
Preferably, Leon preferred to work alone, but unfortunately he had to suck it up if he was gonna get out of here. "Alright, fine." He sighed and kept his frown.
Luis gave a smile before unlocking the cuffs for Leon and pocketed the key. "Alright then, Sancho, lead the way." Luis hummed and stepped to Leon's side.
Leon would have groaned out loud if he could. This was going to be...a long mission.
