Chapter Text
Alastor had finally achieved a small fraction of the freedom he so craved. All he had to do was fulfil one small part of a contract, and he would finally be free to do as he pleased—freedom so within his grasp he could practically taste it.
Then, power lit up from within his stomach; it ached, pressed, and pulled at him. Dragging him from his little hiding hole in Hell and bringing him --
The room was dimly lit, and several other people had appeared, looking just as off-put as Alastor. It was grey, with grey seats lined with silver, dark and almost black tables and a rug that looked soft and wooley. In the middle of the room was one of those nasty little picture boxes—Alastor was half tempted to blow it away.
Paying more mind to those around him, he noticed some somewhat familiar faces.
The most striking was Charlotte Morningstar. She looked around confused, yet she was excited with an innocent sort of excitement as she took in her new surroundings.
"Charlie!" Two voices shouted.
One was a female with long white hair. Alastor narrowed his eyes on her as he felt around her aura, prodding at it with his own, tasting the lightness of it all. Even without the distinct blood in his mouth, he could recognize the scent of an angel, of an exterminator, that wafted off of her. Yet, Charlotte pulled the girl into her arms, embracing the other.
Alastor stiffened and felt the urge to pull them apart, but without knowing the situation, he thought it could do more harm than good.
"My baby girl!" Cooed the other voice, having no issue removing the little exterminator from the blonde. Pulling Charlotte into their embrace, Alastor's grin almost cracked as understanding of who this being was flooded him. The look was distinct. Admittedly, the man had a flare. Few others in Hell did, although the man in question was much shorter in person.
Lucifer Morningstar.
King of Hell.
Ruler of the Pride Ring.
Alastor felt his eyes narrow in on the others. No one else stood out. Angel Dust, if Alastor remembered correctly, little Nifty was a joy to see, and his dear friend Husker also stood off to the side.
"Dad?! What are you doing here?" Charlotte exclaimed, returning the embrace awkwardly.
The man pulled away from his daughter, gently reaching up and touching her cheek. He turned her from side to side as though checking her over for injuries. His eyes had a soft look that he didn't bother to hide. It was shocking how Lilith stayed married to a man who could display such care.
Seemingly noting nothing out of place with his daughter, Alastor watched as Lucifer pressed his heels back into the floor and separated from her, casting a narrowed gaze across the room. The eyes lingered on Alastor for a moment too long, and the Radio Demon could feel his ears press downward against his will, but the sweeping gaze continued after just a moment. Finally, the King opened his mouth, "I felt a familiar magic grab at me. I'm sure he's left something around here to explain."
The King tilted his head and whispered under his breath with what sounded like anger, "Just his fucking style, honestly. Wouldn't bother saying what he wants in person; he never would."
The King's heels echoed with each step as he moved toward the table; on top lay a little letter. Upon seeing what was written, Lucifer's expression soured even further, but he read aloud:
Hello, my dear subjects!
Lulu! It's been a while! How is my favourite son doing? Hope everything's been good. Sorry to hear about your divvvvorrrccce, but I never did like that bitch anyway! We gotta meet up soon; I wanna see this adorable grandkid of mine!
Oh yes, back on topic. I have noticed that some issues pop up that could use some prevention. So here's the future! Enjoyyy ~! Make sure to praise me for this opportunity!
Hugs and Kisses,
Big-G
Horns erupted from Lucifer's head before the man slumped over, looking more downcast.
Alastor's eyes were held wide, as were many of the others in the room. They glanced at one another in shock, and though Alastor wasn't typically one to display such a thing, even he had to admit the current situation warranted a slight widening of the eyes.
Lucifer just sat on the sofa and pulled his knees toward his chest, his eyes looking forwardly blankly.
After a few moments, Charlotte spoke up, "Okay, well, I know this is definitely a shock for everyone. I definitely wasn't expecting this..." She trailed off with a nervous laugh, "But we can take this as a good chance! So, let's look at the bright side! Uhm... Why don't we all introduce ourselves? I'm Charlie Morningstar!"
There was silence for a moment before the angel spoke up, "I'm Vaggie, Charlie's girlfriend..."
"I don't need any introduction, tootsies!" The porn star giggled before taking his own seat at one of the sofas, his lithe body lounging and stretching against it, "But if you live under a rock, names Angel Dust."
"Husk."
"I'm Nifty! HELLO!" The darling thing exclaimed, scrambling toward Alastor, bringing attention to him as he stepped forward, his grin wide as everyone other than the rather pathetic-looking King of Hell looked put off by his appearance.
"I'm Alastor; a pleasure to meet you all, truly a pleasure!" He announced, his voice ringing and overlapping with its typical radio-like quality.
"The radio demon..." Vaggie whispered in shock, "What the hell are you doing here?!"
Lucifer looked up, casting a side glance forward at Alastor, then put his chin back on his knees and scoffed, "He works in mysterious ways and all that."
The silence was deafening.
Charlie cleared her thought at the awkwardness, "Soooo... I guess let's all take a seat and... See... what... happens?"
So they did.
Charlie hesitantly sat herself a foot away from her father; Vaggie sat on the other side of her girlfriend, sitting close enough for their thighs to touch, offering some form of comfort through touch if Alastor had to think of a reason for the contact.
Gently, Alastor reached up to where Nifty had climbed to his shoulder and pinched the back of her shirt, softly placing the little demon onto the sofa next to him as he took his own seat.
Husker reluctantly sat beside the grinning and waving Angel Dust, who looked thrilled by the addition to his sofa and raised an eyebrow in the demons' direction.
Husker ignored it and kept his attention on the TV, which erupted with action the moment they all watched it.
Once upon a time, there was a glowing city protected by golden gates known as Heaven. It was ruled by beings of pure light. Angels that worshipped good and shielded all from evil. Lucifer was one of those angels. He was a dreamer with fantastical ideas for all of creation, but he was seen as a troublemaker for the elders of Heaven. They felt his way of thinking was dangerous for the order of their world. So he watched as the angels expanded the universe in their ways.
From the dust of Earth, they created Adam and Lilith. Equals as the first of mankind, but despite this, Adam demanded control, and Lilith refused to submit to his will. She fled the garden, which had been their home. Drawn in by her fierce independence, Lucifer found her, and the two rebellious dreamers fell deeply in love.
"I'm also a fan of independent women! We have so much in common~!" Angel simpered toward the King with a wave.
Lucifer continued to stare blanketly at the TV.
Angel pouted, "Well, ain't you just a bundle of fun."
Together, they wished to share the magic of free will with humanity. They offered the fruit of knowledge to Adam's new bride, Eve, who gladly accepted. But with this gift came a curse. For this single act of disobedience, evil finally found its way into Earth. With it, a new realm of darkness and sin was created, and the order Heaven had worked to maintain was shattered.
Heaven punished Lucifer and his love by putting them into the dark pit he had created for their reckless act. He was never allowed to see the good that came from humanity, only the cruel and the wicked. Ashamed, Lucifer lost his will to dream.
But Lilith? She thrived, empowering demon-kind with her voice and her songs. And, as the numbers of Hell grew, so did its power. Threatened by this, Heaven made a truly heartless decision. Every year, they would send down an army, an extermination, to ensure Hell and its sinners could never rise against them. But Lilith's hope remained, and her dream was passed down to their precious daughter.
The Princess of Hell
'She always was good at writing a narrative,' Lucifer thought to himself blankly.
Alastor watched the King of Hell, finding himself rather amused that this man was the one in the little fairytale. Sure, it had said the angel had lost his motivation, but this was the being that started it all—the one who both gave Alastor the freedom to choose and ended up taking that choice away in both life and death. Lucifer's actions led to the best and worst moments of most of their lives.
This is why Alastor found the pouting rather pathetic of the King.
"Don't worry, mom. I'll make you proud," Charlie declared, looking out on their ruined city, still burning from the slaughter of hell denizens. Her determination and attention were so strong that she didn't even hear Vaggie sneaking up closer behind her.
"Charlie?" Vaggie asked.
Charlie jumped and ran a hand through her hair, her voice squeaky, "Augh! Oh shit, did you hear all of that?"
"Uh... Yeah, I was right over there," Vaggie said with a grin, her eyes narrowed teasingly at the blonde, gesturing with her thumb to the side.
"Now ain't you two just the cutest thing," Angel pipped up. There was a bluster in his voice that Alastor believed to be fake. Husker didn't seem to believe it either, judging by the narrowed gaze the winged cat gave the spider demon.
"Why, thank you!" Charlie peeped up in response, looking rather flattered. Even the little exterminator looked soft.
"Sorry. I get pretty worked up after an extermination... This story helps to calm me," Chalie admitted, looking down at the tomb in her hands and running a finger down the edge.
Veggie looked at Chalie adoringly, her cheeks puffed with a fond chuckle as she approached, "I know. Don't worry, I enjoy your theatrics. Are you doing okay?"
Vaggie sat down next to Charlie, causing the Princess to shift and face toward Vaggie, who grinned, "I'm fine, just... Thinking, you know, family stuff."
"Did you hear from your mom yet?"
"This is kinda awkward, ain't it?" Angel crossed his arms in front of his chest, "They're talkin' 'bout personal shit, and we're just listening in. It's kinda a fucked up invasion of privacy or somethin'."
"You don't give off the impression of someone who would care about something like that," Husker mentioned.
Angel stiffened but shrugged with a grin. "I got several Non-Disclosure Agreements, hopefully this ain't gonna break 'em."
Charlie shook her head no, her eyes gently closed, allowing that sadness to fall over her.
"Oof, how long has it been now?"
"Not that long, only... Seven... years..." Charlie trailed off, but her tone kicked a notch as she looked back outside at the destruction, "Off doing something important, I'm sure. But this Kingdom was something she really cared about," Charlie wrapped her hands around herself, "Something that I really care about too."
Alastor felt himself tense up, his ears laid flat against his head. Power twirled around him before he could regain control at the thought of those seven years. 'Oh, how much he despised -- '
Thinking of it caused the power to erupt around him again.
"Think you could keep that inside you? Spewing around Dark Magic like you're a newborn, control yourself," The King muttered, rolling his eyes in distaste.
Alastor twitched, his head flying to the side, "Oh my, strong words for someone who appears to be pouting like a child."
The last word cackled with power. The King narrowed his eyes and turned his attention back to the screen.
'Perhaps it would be entertaining to get a true reaction out of this pathetic being,' Alastor mused.
Vaggie grabbed Charlie's hands gently, giving her a soft smile, "Well, at least you aren't alone."
"I just hope what I'm trying to do here will work," Charlie said, giving Vaggie a soft smile of thanks. She appreciated her girlfriend's support.
"It will! I have faith in you," Vaggie sat up and gestured toward the door with a lightly amused tone. "Well, come on, Alastor says he has something to show us."
"Oh, how interesting! I wonder what I am doing helping the Princess of Hell~!" Alastor announced to himself, using his microphone to lightly tap his chin as he thought. Oh, he would protect her—that was something he needed to do—but interact with her? That was a bit unlike him.
As though nervous, Charlie raised her hand.
"Yes, my dear?" Alastor asked, his tone significantly softer than when he prodded at Lucifer.
"Well, you see, Mister Radio Demon, sir. I recently decided to open a hotel with the idea of rehabilitating sinners to get them to Heaven! That will solve Hell's overpopulation problem, and then we won't need to go through the exterminations anymore!"
Alastor couldn't help but chuckle, "Ahh... I see. So I needed entertainment."
Watching sinners attempt to redeem themselves, only to fall? Prime time entertainment!
Charlie looked at their burning city before turning on her heel and following Vaggie.
They sat around the television as the commercial he created started to play. Alastor grinned at their excited expressions, quite enthused to watch them drop at his overly realistic advertisement. Indeed, they shouldn't have considered creating a television advertisement—asking such a thing from the Radio Demon of all people.
The TV started up.
"Well, hello there, wayward sinner! Do you like blood, violence, and depravity of a sexual nature?"
"Yessir," Angel purred out.
Alastor ignored the spider demons' existence.
Alastor's voice spoke with its typical radio quality through the TV as demons stabbed at one another.
"Of course you do. That's why you're in Hell, of course! But what would you say if there was a place to stay that had none of that?"
The screen switched to a frontal view of the hotel.
"Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel. It offers a misguided path to redemption!"
"I must have been having a grand old time making this! Although it is not radio, at least I had fun!" Alastor admitted, watching the people's expressions as the commercial continued.
He did so despise modern technological advances, but these expressions were worth it!
Charlie appeared on the video, her eyes wide in shock, as Alastor pushed the camera into her face. "Founded five days ago by Lucifer's delusional daughter, Charlotte Morningstar! Come place your fate in her inexperienced hands as she tries to work through her daddy issues by fixing you!"
Lucifer blinked at the screen before looking at his daughter, "Daddy issues?"
Charlie rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. "I mean, it's just that... Well, you haven't been the most present... When you call, you usually... Want me to do something... It's... Then mum left because..." Charlie trailed off, looking to the side.
He looked at his daughter sadly, running a hand over his eyes, his hat tilted to the side as he accidentally touched it, "Char Char... Your mom--" He cut himself off with a sigh, "We'll talk about it later... But we both love you, Charlie."
Alastor watched as those words almost worked magic on the man's daughter. She perked up, smiling at her father.
The screen flashed with the hotel's happenings: "Here we offer fun things! Such as somewhat functional staff, 24-hour pest control, custom rooms like this tacky parlour, and riveting conversations with our singular resident!"
Angel came onto the screen before grinning and flipping off the camera.
"WOW! All this and more at the Hazbin Hotel! Your last desperate attempt at salvation starts here!"
Alastor turned the TV off, withholding his urge to cackle at their rather unimpressed expressions, "So, what'd ya 'think?"
It didn't take long for Vaggie's shock to wear off, and her typical fiery disposition took over. Alastor had always admired that type of attitude, amusing as it was, "I'm sorry, what the fuck was that?"
"Haha!" Husk laughed, the force of the laughter shaking his body as he laid a hand down on his knee to steady himself. "Just like Alastor!"
The demon in question ran a finger along his microphone, his smile wicked and sharp.
"Oh, Mr. Husker, you know Mr. Alastor?" Charlie asked innocently.
"Sure do; he owns my soul," Husker admitted with a careless shrug, "Lost it years ago in a card game."
Charlie huffed and glared toward the Radio Demon, who felt his teeth lengthen in response. The Princess's eyes flooded red in anger, and power sparked around her. "He owns your what?"
"Now, my dear, everyone in Hell on the higher chains has deals for souls. Husker has several of his own; your father undoubtedly has some." Perhaps even your mother, Alastor thought darkly, but the pull of his still-caged neck reminded him against mentioning that particular piece of information.
"Dad?!" Charlie cried out, her anger dying and her colour fading back to normal.
Lucifer twisted his head to look in her direction, "It's Hell, Char Char. It's not something you have to do, but it is widespread, and in some ways, it's the only way to control some of the more powerful beings. Can't even imagine what that fucker Mammon would get up to if I didn't have him chained down."
Charlie looked at her father disappointingly.
Charlie, ever the optimist, raised a finger, "Uh, yeah, one note... Alastor, I mean--" Alastor widened his grin at the nervousness she was presenting with, "First off, thank you so much for making this seriously amazing-- But uhm... The tone is maybe a little bit...off?"
Alastor tilted his head to the side. Charlie jumped at the sight of it, thinking he was upset. Poor girl—she had so many daddy issues that she couldn't distinguish between amused and upset!
The air around Alastor hissed as he heard his own thoughts, his internal ideas, projected outwards for others' consumption. Even the King sat up a little at this particular revelation. The blonde man let out a little whistle and angered chuckle before finally saying, "Dad wasn't fucking around when he made this choice, huh? Hope no one is hiding anything too horrible."
It's Hell.
They were all hiding things.
Brave, she continued, "We want people to come here, but this makes it look... Uhmmmm--"
"Bad, the word you're looking for us bad," Vaggie uttered, her arms crossed, looking distinctively unimpressed.
Alastor wondered if her clear angelic nature allowed her to remain unimpressed by him. He wondered if she even realized he wasn't like the other demons she had exterminated with her spear. Wondering if this little angel—Alastor stopped his train of thought as he felt the air around him thicken with his magic.
Instead, he titled his head to the side, "Funny. I was going for hilarious," just like your whole idea.
Vaggie bent forward, "It didn't explain anything about how we're trying to save demons from extermination, which is the whole fucking point of the commercial."
"Vaggie is right, Alastor," Charlie admitted hesitantly, "The commercial was to let Sinners know we are trying to help them."
"Well, my dear, I haven't been active in Hell for some time," Alastor gestured to the side, walked around, and shook his head lightly, his red hair shifting at the movement, ears tilting slightly to the side under the effects of gravity, "And everyone remembers me from my radio show—the proper medium to express oneself!" Alastor pointed his microphone toward the television, unable to help the distaste that squinted at the sides of his eyes, even as his smile widened. "-- But you insisted on this: nosy picture box advertisement..."
"So, I had to have a little fun with it," Alastor admitted, looking toward his microphone almost nonchalantly.
"I actually remember your radio show," The King admitted offhandedly, not glancing away from the TV as he spoke, "It was kind of good."
Alastor's teeth grit into his smile, "Kind of, Sire?"
"That's what I said, Sinner." The King deadpanned.
"Oh, fun. You had a little fun with it?" Vaggie stood up on the sofa and ranted, "This is not what we want to represent us. When you showed up here a week ago, you told us you would help run this hotel! Instead, you're mocking us. Nobody will want to come to a place that a powerful Overlord like you thinks is a waste of time!"
What a joy! I do so like when people compliment my power, Alastor admitted to himself internally as he did nothing but smile at her little rant.
"That is not how I meant to come across, and you know it!" Vaggie exclaimed, glaring at the radio demon.
She got laughter back in response, the microphone erupting in some secondary canned laughter to echo his own, "My dear, I can't help what I take as a compliment. Be more careful with your words!"
That joy soured slightly as their single resident raised their hand off to the side.
"Que?!" Vaggie snapped.
"If'n ya filmin' a commercial, can I suggest you take better advantage of the talented celebrity you have right here?" As Angel spoke, he adjusted himself in his seat, flipping his legs around and leaning against the arm of the sofa, running a hand through his hair before pointing at himself.
"There I am! Mightn't I say I'm lookin' good as ever?" Angel said, purring at the future version of himself.
"That might be a level of narcissism I don't think I've seen anyone touch before," Husker uttered, looking over toward the other with a look of disgust.
"Why, thank you!" Angel chirped back, running a hand through his hair as he looked up at the other demon from under his eyelashes.
Husker rolled his eyes.
"Angel, you're a porn star."
"A famous porn star!" Angel grinned, "I'll have the horniest sinners knockin' these walls down to get in."
"We are not filming a porn as a commercial!" Vaggie snapped.
Angel narrowed his eyes and rubbed his fingers together, "Why not? Sex sells, dunnit? I swear if you film me goin' at it with mister fancy talk-creepy voice here--" Alastor teleported himself next to the sofa Angel was longing in his sharp smile, ready to put the little spider into its place if it continued that particular line of conversation, "--You'd be rollin' in particpants willin' to stay at this tacky hotel."
"Haha! Never going to happen!" Alastor laughed, unable to help the flitch of disgust at the thought.
The idea disgusted him, and the radio static was heavy as he laughed, "Haha! Never going to happen."
"Angel, I appreciate you wanting to use your special skills to, uhm, attract folks to the hotel, but -- I really don't want to exploit you in that way!"
"Oh, please, baby. This body was made to be exploited. I have the arms, I got the stamina, I got the legs, I got the lung capacity--" Angel squirmed around on the sofa as he flicked his legs around to make his point, "Oh-oh, I got the legs, the gag reflex, the holes, the chest fluff everyone thinks are tits--"
"What about you, Short King? I've heard your wife is tall. You gotta type? 'Cause I'm pretty tall too, and I'm willin' to wear a dress," Angel purred out.
He was ignored.
"Ya'll ain't no fun at all!"
Charlie cleared her throat, "If possible, I would appreciate it if you didn't... come on to my father with me right here... If that's okay with you, of course!"
Angel softened, "Sure thing, Toots."
Charlie's phone starts ringing; a photo of a rubber duck with a top hat with the word Dad in bold typeface is displayed on the screen.
"Uhhh... Hold that thought. I'll be right back!" Charlie rushed off to the side, ignoring Angel's following call of being able to compliment his skills all night.
Letting out a breath as she entered the darker hallway, she answered the phone with an awkward grin: "Hello? Dad?"
Lucifer watched the TV with fascination, wondering what he could be contacting his daughter about. Typically, he tried to wait to see if she would reach out to him. Lately, she hadn't. It had been months since she had last gotten into contact. She didn't need him anymore. She had other people now, a girlfriend and a business plan, as short-sighted as it was. Perhaps he should continue to not... Bother her.
Angel watched her go, concern hidden deep within his gaze, before turning toward Alastor to distract himself from that particular attachment, "I'm just wondering, if freaky-face over there is so powerful, then why can't he just make people stay here?"
Alastor's smile went from tight and small to large in the blind of an eye as he waved a hand to the side, "Oh, trust me, I can! "
The air around him darkened. Alastor couldn't help but think of the control he could have on others. Control was such a beautiful thing. So was the fear that allowed people to be controlled —"Why do you think I'm here?"
"You're fucked up, you know that?" Husker practically spat out, his feathered bristled up like a cat's fur would.
Alastor tried his best not to lash out. He gritted his teeth into his customary smile, and he played at being unbothered, tilting his head to the side and giving a little laugh, "Haha! Aren't we all?"
"Not like you," Husk spat back, his eyes fiery. If they had been without company, Alastor might have reminded the demon of his place.
Alastor peaked over as he heard his beloved friend Hesker pipe up from the bar, "You think I'd be cleaning bottles and listening to you fuck's bitch and moan all the time if he wasn't forcin' me?"
Hesker had no idea how good he had it -- Alastor twitched his gaze to the side. Ignoring the bubble of distaste which had erupted from deep within.
Husker took a deep breath at the thought, his body sharp with shock as he looked at his contract holder. Truly looked at him and saw that his jacket was slightly dirty, not at all the usual well-trimmed demon he was used to. It had been years since he had last seen Alastor and --
"My dear Husker, don't think about it too much. You might hurt what is left of your brain cells, haha!" Alastor laughed, but the words felt like more of a demand, a demand for the whole room.
They were looking at the Radio Demon with consideration. Especially Charlie, who looked like she might reach across the room and give the Radio Demon a very ill-advised hug. Thankfully, the girl's hand was clasped by her girlfriend, keeping her in place.
'Pity', Husker thought, 'Alastor would not take.'
So he fixed his attention back to the screen.
Alastor's grin turned more genuine as Nifty jumped onto the bar and said, "I like being forced!"
Hesker also softened a little, "Keep that to yourself, Niff."
Niffty twirled her little hoop skirt as she appeared on the screen, "It's true!"
"Niff...." Husker uttered.
"You too? We have so much in common. Wanna be friends?" Angel admitted, leaning forward toward the little being. However, the tone wasn't flirtatious; it was more haulting, unsure.
Nifty was a creator of the most weird connections. Alastor had to admit to himself. She fit in with many groups, even himself, if Alastor was being honest. Truly, she was a remarkable little being. Should any harm have come to little Nifty, the person who caused it would likely find themselves with several very strong, very angry enemies.
"I like being friends with bad boys. Are you bad?" Nifty asked, twirling her hair.
Angel huffed a laugh, "One of the baddest, doll."
"Okay! We're friends now!"
"What, you don't love being here with me, Whiskers?" Angel simpered out, tilting his head invitingly to the side.
"Call me 'Whiskers' again and I'll jam that bottle down your throat."
"Kinky. C'mon, keep talkin' dirty," Angel immediately retorted with a grin and an inviting finger wag.
Vaggie calmed down as the antics she had gotten used to in the last week erupted. With a sigh, she stepped in, "Ugh, Angel, let Husk do his job. And no, we can't force sinners to stay here. They need to choose to."
Angel leaned back, "I'm choosing to be here, and I think it's all stupid. We're in Hell, Toots. That's kind of the end of the road, ain't it?"
"Well, it doesn't have to be! Just because nobody has made it out before doesn't mean it's impossible!"
Angel reached forward, laying a hand on her shoulder, "Hey, whatever means I can keep crashin' here rent-free. Crack is expensive."
"That would be the reason I decided to join up on your little gang!" Angel laughed, but something seemed sad about the pink fluffy being. Alastor almost let out an audible laugh as he realized, perhaps Angel, despite his attitude, actually did believe--
Oh, how entertaining.
Charlie grinned excitedly, "Yeah! I can totally! Yeah, I'll head over there right away... Okay!"
She hung up the phone, her face nearly busting with excitement, and when she could no longer contain herself, "Hah! YES! YES!! Hahahaha!" She leaned back to their lounging area and waved enthusiastically, "Vaggggiieeee~! Holy shit!"
"Ahh! What?!" Vaggie exclaimed, almost having lost her balance in shock.
Charlie gestured for her girlfriend, her teeth biting at her lip to attempt and contain her excitement.
Vaggie's eyes narrowed, her gaze softened, and she let out a fold little sigh before following her girlfriend into the hall. Charlie was excitedly bouncing in place, "What's going on?"
"My dad just called! He said that the leader of the Angel army wanted to meet, and he asked if I wanted to go instead!" Charlie exclaimed, darting around in excitement, unable to contain herself.
Lucifer's eyes widened, and his feet hit the ground as he stopped hugging his legs to himself. Looking over toward his daughter in horror, he tugged at his hair, "What could they possibly want a meeting about, fuck that's so not good."
"Thanks for believing in me, dad." Charlie was about to say, bouncing in excitement herself at the opportunity she had been given.
Under normal circumstances, Lucifer would agree. He wanted to support his daughter, he really did. Even in ideas such as rehabilitation, which he didn't personally agree with, he wanted his little Char Char to make and learn from her own mistakes, but to throw her to HEAVEN? To let her face them? What had he been thinking?
He started to pace the floor, chewing his lip. He said nothing as the TV began again, and the pacing didn't slow.
"Dad...?" Charlie asked hesitantly.
She got no response.
In the corner of the room, Alastor's shadow lurked in, listening to the conversation, raising a silent hand to its chin in thought.
"But--"
Charlie heaved, panting for air.
"But-but the extermination just happened. What could they possibly want this soon after --"
Charlie was already singing and down the street before Vaggie could get her adorable girlfriend to listen to another word.
Alastor loved a good performance; perhaps that was why he found himself so quickly fond of the Princess of Hell. She was many things, entertainment personified, soft in ways that Alastor hadn't seen since his mother, and she could sing. He also was fond of the red suit, the symptom of style!
Alastor could feel his nose twitch at his own thoughts. Yes, he grew fond of people, but broadcasting that particular weakness to an audience was particularly distasteful. He was starting to get the feeling he would find a lot of what they were watching distasteful to himself.
"Awwwh~ That's so sweet of the big scary Overlord~!" Angel cooed, grinning at the demon.
Alastor smiled back, the air deadened with his power, and he said nothing, but the look sent Angel into sitting ramrod straight in his seat, almost instilling manners into the whore.
The sheer gumption of the girl to sing a song like that whilst surrounded by the slaughter of demons.
Alastor let out a chuckle, which turned into cackling laughter, as his shadow watched the girl approach the doors to the meeting.
A happy day in Hell, indeed~!
"Well! That was quite the show, yes indeed!" Alastor finally spoke as the screen froze, "I think perhaps it is time for a break, refreshments, and perhaps some time to absorb what we have seen."
Alastor definitely needed that time.
They nodded, and with a wave of his hand, there was coffee, and more importantly, alcohol. Which Angel swiftly grabbed a few bottles of with eager hands.
Husker followed soon after.
