Unwanted Reveal

Summary:

What if Lucifer brought up that Vaggie was an angel without knowing it was a secret?

I personally subscribe to the theory that Lucifer always knew Vaggie was an angel and kept it to himself, but I've wanted a fic where he brings it up in front of Charlie before she found out, and chaos ensues.

Also, Mimzy doesn't exist in this AU, I don't like her. Husk went to Alastor for a different reason.

Work Text:

When Lucifer first arrived in the vicinity of the hotel, he sensed an angel's presence. He didn’t even realize he still had the ability to sense one; he thought he lost it after his fall. That didn’t matter; however, why would an angel be at his daughter’s hotel? Was Heaven spying on his daughter? Goodness, he hopes that isn’t the case.

As he got closer to the front entrance, the scent of an angel became stronger; he could tell it was coming from directly inside. Fuck. There was no doubt to him that Heaven was spying on Charlie.

But he couldn’t dwell on that—Charlie might know about the angel being there anyway. He knew he wasn’t always the most attentive to what Charlie said during their phone calls; maybe she brought it up and he didn’t hear. He’ll just act like nothing’s amiss and piece together what he missed, like he always does.

“Charlie!!” was the first thing he said after his daughter opened the door. Overcome by the glee of seeing his daughter in who knows how long , he entirely forgot about the angel.

Overwhelmed by greeting his daughter and meeting that one asshole deer-man with an obsession with radio, he didn’t remember about the angel in their presence until he asked Charlie to introduce himself to her other friends, and she brought out a girl who he could instantly tell was the angel in his presence.

She seemed to be an exorcist, but he couldn’t find her wings or halo. Weird, he would have to talk to Charlie about that girl later. Without the wings and halo, she looks like a normal sinner. Could Heaven be deceiving his daughter?

“This is Vaggie; she’s my girlfriend!” Charlie excitedly told him, huh. Charlie likely knows that the girl was an angel then, it being her girlfriend and everything. He would still bring it up later—he hasn’t seen another fallen angel in hell for over a century.

Anyway, that train of thought could wait for later; he needs to impress his daughter. He eagerly shouted, “Oh my golly, you like girls, so do I! We have so much in common!” before hugging M aggie, “Put it there, Maggie! She’s so pretty.”

The visit then continued with Charlie introducing him to her sinner friends ( he didn’t really like any of them, but he didn’t want to say that to his daughter ) and him fighting with that deer . Not physically, though he can wish

After the egotistical deer and him fought, Charlie was able to easily go back on track and start touring him around her hotel. Unfortunately, the deer insisted on joining them, and his daughter was never the type to turn others down.

The tour swiftly started with him, Charlie, the deer , and M aggie. Charlie was ecstatic showing him around; he wishes he could see her that happy all the time . She showed him around various guest rooms, hallways, common areas, and more. It didn’t look very different from when he used to operate the place, but he was happy to look around nonetheless.

Throughout the tour, he wanted to ask about M aggie. Wait, it’s Vaggie, isn’t it? Anyway, he wanted to ask about how Vaggie and his daughter met and how she fell, but he didn’t want the radio freak to be included in any conversation they had.

A perfect time arose to ask questions when the deer stopped walking behind the trio, seemingly to terrorize that one cat sinner that Charlie introduced Lucifer to earlier.

“I’m just hoping that Heaven will cooperate with us; we already have made so much progress with Angel Dust! You didn’t see dad, but he’s improved so much from a few months ago—he hasn’t even used drugs in two weeks! He’s doing so great; I’m really proud of him, he-”

“Excuse me, sweetie?” Lucifer butted in, interrupting Charlie’s optimistic ramblings.

“Yes, dad?” Charlie replied while turning around to look at him, a large smile plastered on her face.

“How did you and Vaggie meet? I didn’t realize there was another fallen angel down ‘ere, I don’t think I’ve-” He quickly stopped talking when he realized Charlie was looking at him with a puzzled expression, while Vaggie, who walked slightly ahead of them during the span of their conversation, turned around looking absolutely petrified.

“Oh… Fuck. I don’t believe I should’ve talked about that.” Lucifer commented, Charlie now frowning in his direction. Fuck, he didn’t want to make his daughter sad today. He’s been absent for so long, and the first day he’s back, he makes his daughter sad. What kind of parent is he?! Charlie then turned around and looked straight at Vaggie, who was even more terrified than before—something Lucifer didn’t previously realize was possible.

“What is he talking about, Vaggie?” Charlie asked in a deadpan tone.

It took Vaggie a couple seconds to respond before she stuttered out, “I-I didn’t w-want to tell you it this way. I-I’m an angel, a f-f-fallen angel, Charlie. I’m sorry.”

A silent conversation went on between the two, standing still and staring at each other. After what seemed like forever, Charlie turned around, allowing Lucifer to see her tear-stained face before she rushed past him in the direction of her bedroom. Fuck! Fuck! His stupid and uninformed words made his little duckie cry! Why does he always mess everything up?!

He really wanted to kill Vaggie for hiding something so big from his daughter, but he doubts killing her girlfriend will make Charlie feel better in any meaningful capacity. So instead, he will make Vaggie explain her side of the story before making any judgment.

He walked right up to Vaggie with a furious expression. Something that petrified Vaggie even more serves her right for hurting his precious daughter's feelings.

“We are going to have a conversation about this, right. now.”

“O-okay, sir,” she mumbled before Lucifer led her into a vacant room, leaving that ugly deer behind in the hallway.

The two sat down across from each other before Lucifer started the conversation. In an icy tone, he asked, “Did Heaven send you?”

“N-no, not at all, sir. I've fallen, sir.”

“Why didn’t you tell my daughter that you were an angel?”

It took Vaggie a couple seconds before she answered. “I was scared that she would leave me, sir.”

“So you truly love my daughter?”

Y-yes sir. I do love her; I would do anything for her.” Vaggie explained, Lucifer wasn’t always the best at reading people, but he could see she wasn’t lying. He’s gained faith that Vaggie wasn’t trying to deceive his daughter to help Heaven or whatnot, but he still has a few more questions to ask. “So, you’re an exorcist, correct?”

“Former.” Vaggie sternly replied, a tone of anger in her voice.

“How’d you fall?”

“I spared a sinner.” Vaggie quietly explained.

Upon hearing that, Lucifer laughed out loud. “So Heaven’s still as stingy as before I take it?” Vaggie obviously wasn’t expecting him to crack a joke during a conversation like this, but her nerves quelled down after the remark.

Immediately after, he stated, “Alright, well, that’s all I wanted to know for now.” before he went into his demon form, undoing all progress the joke made in quelling Vaggie’s nerves. “You will make it up to my daughter, yes?” his voice bellowed from every side of Vaggie.

“Y-yes sir.!” Vaggie nervously said, trying to shrink into her chair.

Lucifer then immediately turned back into his normal form before jollily replying, “Alright, well, I’m going to talk to Charlie now. I look forward to seeing you later!”

Good thing the conversation ended when it did, as he could sense the deer had found the room they were in and just started watching their conversation.

Lucifer got up and left the room, flipping off the shadow of the radio fuckface on the way out. He then teleported to the hallway in front of Charlie’s room and knocked on her door, hoping for an answer.

“Come in.” A weak voice whispered from inside.

Instead of using the door, Lucifer teleported to the inside of Charlie’s room. As soon as he appeared in the room, he noticed Charlie curled up under her covers, taking tissues from Razzle and Dazzle. Those two goats are great—one of his finest creations, if he were ranking them.

“Hi, duckie!” he called out.

Charlie didn’t respond to his greeting. Fuck, he hopes she isn’t mad at him. Lucifer proceeded to walk to the bed and sit down on the edge of it. “I’m sorry, Char-Char.”

It took a few seconds before Charlie replied. “It’s not your fault, dad. Don’t apologize to me.”

“No, I shouldn’t have told you about it during the tour. I should’ve known you didn’t know.”

Charlie sat up, still in her cocoon of blankets, and looked straight at Lucifer, tears still streaming down her eyes.

“Dad. It isn’t your fault. I’m glad you told me—don't apologize.”

She laid back down after that comment, being swallowed by her blankets for a couple minutes before Lucifer spoke up. Softly and compassionately, he asked, “Do you want to talk about what happened?” He fucking nailed it; he’s the best father ever.

It took a while for Charlie to reply before she stated, “Y-yes, wait, no... No, yes. I think I want to talk about it.”

“Ok, sweetie. Talk about it whenever you’re ready to.”

Charlie took a while longer before she sat up with her back against the headboard, still wrapped up in blankets. She looked a bit more composed than when Lucifer first went into the room and saw her face.

“Why did she lie, dad? Why?” Charlie whimpered out, breaking her composure and going back to crying.

“I don’t know, duckie.”

“She should know I would’ve accepted her; I love her so much, dad! Does she not trust me? What did I do that made her think I wouldn’t have accepted her if she was an angel? Why didn’t she tell me, dad!?” Charlie shouted out before going back to sobbing.

“It’s okay, Char-Char. It’s okay,” he said before teleporting to the head of the bed and putting his arm around Charlie, allowing her to cry into his shoulder. After a span of five, ten minutes? Charlie calmed down, and Lucifer used the opportunity to speak. “I talked to Vaggie after you left.”

“You did?” Charlie curiously asked, looking up at him with watery eyes. Fuck, he hates seeing his little duckie sad.

“Yes.”

“What did she say?” Charlie asked.

“That she loves you, and she’s very sorry.” There was more that Vaggie said, but it wouldn’t help Charlie to hear it right now, so he would allow Vaggie to be the one to explain herself.

Charlie didn’t say anything after that, just leaning on Lucifer while silently looking forward. It took another minute before Charlie spoke up. “Can you get Vaggie for me, dad?”

“I can,” he said, hugging Charlie and then getting up. He proceeded to walk to the door, opening it and preparing to search for Vaggie. As soon as he closed the door behind him, he saw Vaggie in his peripheral vision; she must’ve been waiting for Charlie.

“Charlie wants to talk to you.” Lucifer commented, now looking directly at Vaggie. She silently nodded and went inside the room, closing the door behind herself.

As Lucifer walked from the room and towards the lobby, he could hear a discussion from inside Charlie’s room. It seemed they were making amends; he’s glad he was able to help with something after being gone from her life for all those years.

Now, to go put that shitty deer in his place.
