Chapter Text
It was somewhat scary, being a trans dude in the military that is. Soap had joined as soon as he turned eighteen and still in the early stages of his transition, a lot of people didn't respect him for who he was and for that reason he never really created any strong bonds in the military, or outside of that part of his life thanks to his job being so demanding. But, ever since he joined the 141 task force he's felt nothing but unconditional support from his colleagues.
The team had done their fair share of bonding with Soap as did any good team, they'd become his family and he wouldn't want it any other way.
The only thing Soap would change is how little he knew about his masked lieutenant, the man was mysterious in every aspect from his background to hair colour Soap knew next to nothing about the guy except that he was a living legend. The only thing that bothered Soap about his mysterious Lt was his skull mask that he refused to take off under any circumstance.
It started with curiosity but soon unavoidable thoughts seeped into the filthiest corners of Soap's mind, it appeared in nasty sketches he would make unintentionally of his Lt, it had become a serious problem for the mohawked man. Damn near every time he saw his superior those thoughts would come crawling back scratching at the corners of Soaps mind, usually in the form of Ghost's dangerously attractive voice.
Of course it got out eventually. I mean, Soap wasn't exactly the most subtle person, the best way to describe him would be a peacock amongst pigeons. Not quite a bull in a china shop but certainly not the best at blending into the flock. Word spread like wildfire between new recruits, and he knew it was only a matter of time before the lieutenant would stumble across the upsetting information.
It all happened in the span of five hours.
Ghost had been congratulated for "coming out" for probably the twelfth time that day when he finally snapped and began the hunt to figure out where the hell this rumour had popped up.
Meanwhile, Soap, unbeknownst to the man hunt currently happening to find him, was happily drawing in his and Gaz's barracks.
Ghost on the other hand, was strolling through the small hallways on base that barely fit his frame alone. And he wasn't especially happy to be on a side quest to look for some imaginary boyfriend the rookies had thought up for him. After several trips back and forth through the different areas on base he had his target.
Of course Soap had to have been drawing filth when the unmistakable knock of his Lt sounded through the thin door sending Soap into a panic, he haphazardly shoved his sketch under his pillow and rushed to get to the door opening it before he realized his attire.
Ghost walked through the barracks for the third time that evening as he strolled up to the door and knocked on it an impressive amount of shuffling and banging came from behind the thin plank of wood before it opened to revel the very Sergeant he'd been looking for in his nightys which was just tight cotton boxers and the off-white t-shirt that was branded with the shorter mans name.
"Somethin you need sir?" Soap was stood at the door looking mildly disheveled and... Attractive?
The masked man stood silently looming over Soap for an uncomfortable amount of time before speaking. "I wanted to talk to you about something."
"Aye sir, come in." Soap was NOT happy about letting the other in the room with how poorly he'd hid his sketches and still with pencils out on the bed, there was bound to be questions eventually.
Ghost couldn't take his eyes off the other as he sauntered back into the room leaving the door open in invitation. The way the cotton hugged his tanned thighs was too perfect, and paired with the fitted shirt that hugged his waist in the perfect spot, he was a sight to fucking see.
Soap bounced over to his bed plopping right onto the sketch book ensuring his superior officer wouldn't see the creations he'd be conjuring up only minutes prior. Ghost opted to stand just feet away from Soap, leaning against the nearby wall.
"There's been some rumors going about the base recently, I was hoping you would have stopped them by now.. unless you haven't heard them yet?" Soap swallowed the lump in his throat, he knew what this was about already. His secret was being pried open by the very man it was meant to be kept from and all he could do was let it unravel in front of him. Soap could feel sweat dripping down his neck and suddenly the room they were in felt all too small and crowded.
"Aye sir, I've heard of them..." Ghost sighed, he wanted to say his next words carefully, afraid of scaring away the other from actually telling the truth.
"Is there any truth to these rumours, Johnny?" Somehow Soaps name sounded entirely different than normal coming from Ghosts voice. It felt personal, more personal than Ghost had ever cared to be with coworkers maybe other than Price.
Soap sat thinking for a good thirty seconds, he felt the sweat drip down his back and onto his sketch pad. Guilt overran him and he was apologizing before the words even processed in his mind, "I'm so sorry Lt, I'll tell the rookies to shut up about it-"
Soap had been cut off as soon as he started, dry lips pressed against his own and the overwhelming taste of cigarettes and bourbon flooded his mouth, it was the most delightful sensation he's ever felt.
Ghost had decided he'd sat there listening to Soap trying to apologize long enough, he acted without thinking, pulling his mask above his nose and smooshing his lips against Soap's softer pair silencing the other man in an instant. The mohawked mans lips were much softer than his in comparison and he tasted like scotch and coffee, but it was over all too soon when Ghost ripped himself away from the kiss realizing what he'd just done.
He got up and left the room in silence without giving Soap even a second to chase after him.
