Arven expected her attention to go between them. She didn't have to stare into his soul. He's too speared and filleted just by the return of her amber gaze, to say nothing of what's going on below: her knees naturally splaying to bring her level with him "doesn't" go well with the speed of her hand.
With a yelp, Arven twitched and blew all over the colors of her arm brace. She chuckled, thinking beyond doubt she would have her answers through this variety of battle.
She found him this way by chance in the night; he didn't yet know why. All that really mattered is the scene she came upon.
