Chapter Text
"I need your help." Jhoanna starts, sullenly picking at the sleeves of the university sweatshirt she's wearing as she sits cross-legged on her bed.
It's a rainy Saturday afternoon. She and her roommate, Colet, had just gotten back from their PE classes about twenty minutes prior and Jhoanna had been sulking ever since.
The moment they arrived, Colet wordlessly set both of their bags on the study table and handed Jhoanna the first sweater she could find in her closet. She knows kung gaano kabilis lamigin si Jhoanna kapag umuulan, so it's the first thing that came to mind when she felt a few drops of rain land on her arm habang naghihintay sila ng jeep pauwi.
If Colet notices the girl's unrelenting frown as she gets out of the shower, she doesn't say anything about it.
Sanay na siya sa mga random na pagda-drama ni Jhoanna kaya she lets the girl be and resorts to playing on her phone instead.
Now, sporting a faded version of the same sweatshirt that Jhoanna has on, Colet sits on Jhoanna's swivel chair across the room, offering a single hum of acknowledgement so the younger girl knows that she's listening kahit nakatutok siya sa cellphone.
Jhoanna looks at her, expectantly. When she figures that Colet wasn't going to say anything further, she continues, an exaggerated sigh leaving her lips—a weak attempt at catching her distracted roommate's attention.
"I think Aiah wants to kiss me." Jhoanna blurts out.
The admission makes Colet glance at her, briefly. She raises an eyebrow at the girl on the bed and looks back at her phone, fingers back to tapping rapidly on her screen.
Kilala ni Colet si Aiah. She knows na she and Jhoanna have been seeing each other for a few months now dahil pinakilala din naman 'to ng roommate niya sa kanya. And from what she's seen so far, Aiah's a nice girl. Not someone that she should keep an eye on or worry about pagdating kay Jhoanna.
"Congrats?" Colet replies after a while, a faint 'victory' echoing from her device as she finally sets it down on the table before standing up.
Jhoanna watches with a frown as Colet walks towards the right side of her bed, stopping in front of their mini fridge to grab a bottle of water.
Jhoanna bites the inside of her cheek and closes her eyes shut.
Mukhang mahihirapan siyang sabihin ah.
With a newfound determination, Jhoanna takes a deep breath and tries again. This time, she pads across the room and takes away Colet's phone, shutting its screen off with a silent click before the older girl could even protest.
Colet doesn't say anything naman. 'Di pa kasi nag-uumpisa 'yung laro niya at medyo in-expect niya na 'yung direct intervention from Jhoanna.
Jhoanna pouts, chucking the phone carelessly on top of Colet's perfectly made bed right next to them.
Colet sighs in defeat, straightening up her back against the swivel chair as she looks up at the girl standing in front of her.
"Ano ba 'yun?" She breathes out, propping her chin in the palm of her hand as she now forcibly gives Jhoanna her undivided attention.
"I need your help nga." Jhoanna reiterates, albeit sounding a little less sure of the idea she had in mind now that Colet was actually listening to her.
"Saan ba kasi?" Colet asks. "Parang ewan, ayaw pang sabihin ng isahan lang."
"Teka! Pinag-iisipan ko pa kasi."
"Ang alin?"
"'Yung tulong nga na tinutukoy ko."
"Daming arte."
Jhoanna clicks her tongue in annoyance and glares at the older girl. Halatang nang-aasar na lang. Kailangan niya pa ba talaga i-spell out kung ano kailangan niya?
Well...malamang. Pero, shet. Paano niya ba sasabihin?
"Hindi ka naman ata nakikinig kanina eh." Jhoanna accuses, causing Colet to scoff.
"Nakikinig ako. Sabi mo you need my help, tapos you think Aiah wants to kiss you, tapos inulit mo lang." Colet rolls her eyes at her.
"Ano ba kasing help? Need mo ba ng advice? Do you need me out of the dorm? Itutulak ba kita kapag magkasama kayo? Ano?" Colet prods, holding up her fingers as she lists out possible reasons why her roommate would need her help.
"Hindi 'yun.." Jhoanna trails off, scratching the back of her head awkwardly as she tries to come up with a way to ease in her proposition kay Colet.
Sensing her roommate's unease, Colet tries to get the girl more flustered. Sarap din kasi galitin ni Jhoanna minsan.
"Don't tell me na magpapaturo ka pa humalik?" She asks jokingly, grinning from ear-to-ear as she watches Jhoanna bow her head to look at her hands, then again at the floor.
Jhoanna could feel her face getting a lot warmer than it was a while ago, ngayon na Colet had taken the words out of her mouth.
Uy, ano 'to. Sahig?
When Jhoanna doesn't answer immediately, Colet's smile falters. She waits a few more seconds for the girl to bark back or express her disgust before realization dawns on her, leaving her mouth agape and her throat a little dry.
Colet looks back at the girl in horror. What the fuck?
"You've got to be kidding me, Jho." She sputters out in disbelief, looking at Jhoanna who was now covering her face with both hands. "Magpapaturo ka nga humalik?" Colet shrieks.
"Wag mo 'kong i-judge! I'm nervous, okay?" Jhoanna quickly explains herself. She swears that the idea sounded better in her head. "What if she notices na I'm inexperienced?"
"Buang! Ano naman?" Colet counters, smacking Jhoanna on the arm with a notebook she got from their desk. "I don't see anything wrong with that. And shouldn't you be worried about something else? Like I don't know—this basically being considered cheating?"
"Hoy, it's not ha!" Jhoanna defends, her voice frantic at the implication. "OA mo. Aiah and I aren't exclusive. She even goes on dates with other people pa sometimes."
Colet raises an accusatory eyebrow her way, suddenly feeling protective of the girl after hearing that. "At pumapayag ka naman?"
"Oo naman." Jhoanna replies truthfully, like it's the most obvious thing in the world. "Hindi naman kasi kami, and you know that I'm not a big fan of relationships. At least not right now."
"Sigurado ka?" Colet asks, narrowing her eyes at her in speculation.
Jhoanna nods. "Peksman."
"Oh, edi it's not that serious pa naman pala. Hindi mo na dapat gawing big deal if she wants to kiss you."
"Eh sa 'yun ang nararamdaman ko, paanong gagawin?" She whines. "Dali na, Col. I just don't want to make a fool out of myself."
"You're not going to, Jho. If she really likes you, she won't care. Trust me. It's just a kiss."
"I know you're probably right, pero kahit na. It's my first kiss. What if I mess it up?" She frowns, her voice coming out smaller than usual at the end. "What if hindi pala worth it?"
Colet stops, gaze softening at the genuine worry in Jhoanna's eyes. Sisikmuraan niya talaga ang kung sino mang nakapag-pa-insecure sa kaibigan niya in the past.
With a sigh, she stands up and holds Jhoanna by the hand, gently leading the girl towards the edge of her bed so they can sit side-by-side.
"Do you like her?" Colet asks, seriously. Her left hand clasped in Jhoanna's right as she tucks a few strands of the younger girl's hair behind her ear.
Jhoanna has always found comfort in the steadiness of Colet's voice, so she leans into her hand that's now settled on the side of her face before answering earnestly.
"Enough to want to not embarrass myself in front of her, yes."
"Then you're worrying over nothing." Colet assures her. "First kisses are awkward naman talaga and it's your next ones that are going to count. Parang exams lang 'yan, may chance ka pa laging bumawi sa finals lalo na kung gusto mo talaga." She lightheartedly jests.
It makes Jhoanna roll her eyes, affectionately, but it also does make her feel the slightest bit better.
Typical Colet. Always knowing what to say.
"Was yours awkward?" Jhoanna asks, curiously, playing with Colet's fingers as she waits for the girl to answer. "Your first kiss."
Colet gives her a sly grin. "Syempre hindi. I'm a natural."
"Nakakainis ka."
Colet giggles at the scowl on Jhoanna's face. "Pero on a serious note, if I do teach you, wouldn't that be your first kiss? I think it defeats the whole point, Jho."
"Actually, it kind of is my point."
Colet opens her mouth to speak but closes it shut when she pauses to think. "Hindi ko na naman ma-gets."
"What I mean is," Jhoanna begins to clarify, trying to gather her thoughts carefully so they don't come out wrong. "I do want you to teach me para hindi ako mapahiya kay Aiah. Pero I also want you to be my first kiss."
"Aba, masama na 'yan."
"Seryoso kasi, tanga."
"Bakit naman kasi ako? Sabi ko nga 'di ba, it's just a kiss, Jho."
"Kilala mo ako, Col. Alam mo namang big deal sa'kin ang mga ganitong bagay." Jhoanna replies. "I just want it to be someone I'm positive I won't regret in the long run. I know it's a weird request pero please, Col? For me?"
Colet mulls over the girl's words long and hard. This is not the rainy weekend bonding with Jhoanna that she had expected.
She watches Jhoanna fiddle with the ring on her finger as she waits for Colet to reply, a nervous tic she had developed throughout the years. It was one of those cheap mood rings that you could get at your local anik-anik tindahans for fifteen pesos. A little gift from Colet back in high school.
She's always wondered why Jhoanna still likes wearing it. The ring didn't even change color anymore and the black pigment had seemed to have dried up on its sides.
With the amount of actual rings that Jhoanna's received from her family and friends since then, Colet thinks na it's probably just stuck on her finger at this point. Kaya siguro hindi niya tinatanggal.
Pero kasi it's Jhoanna, the sentimental sap.
After much contemplation ay Colet lets out what could possibly be the deepest sigh she's ever going to take in her entire life, and nods. Kasi let's be real here, kailan ba naman talaga siya nakatanggi kay Jhoanna Robles?
"Ugh, fine." She says with finality, her answer making Jhoanna punch a celebratory fist in the air. "Pero this is just a one-time thing ha!" She warns. "Mga pumapasok talaga sa isip mong oyot ka."
Jhoanna nods enthusiastically. "Colet best girl talaga." She beams, practically dancing in her seat.
"Whatever. Let's get this over with." Colet ignores the twinkle of delight in Jhoanna's eyes and gets right to it.
No way out but through, she muses.
"Okay, first step is that you get comfortable." Colet starts, watching as Jhoanna shifts obediently into a more convenient position on the bed, facing Colet.
"Wait, sa'n ko ilalagay kamay ko?" Jhoanna asks, making the older girl furrow her eyebrows at her.
"Pati ba naman 'yan? Bahala ka na. Pwede sa waist o kaya sa balikat. Ako, personally, I like it when nasa pisngi or jaw ko."
"Waist, balikat, pisngi—okay, noted."
"Are you sure about this?" Colet asks her, wanting to confirm again just in case the girl had changed her mind.
Jhoanna nods once, hesitantly bringing a hand up to rest on Colet's cheek.
"Sure na sure?" Colet asks again.
Another nod.
An amused smile creeps up Colet's lips at their exchange. Hahalikan niya ba talaga 'to?
"Use your words, Jho."
"Yes, I'm sure." Jhoanna replies, a determined look on her face as she adjusts the frame of her glasses out of habit.
"Okay. Close your eyes."
"Eh, baka bigla kang umalis."
"Hindi! Ito naman si trust issues. Pikit."
With one last pointed look from Colet, Jhoanna does as she's told and Colet suddenly feels her nerves kick in. She pushes any intrusive thoughts to the back of her mind and begins to lean in, closing her eyes shut as she swiftly pulls Jhoanna closer by the nape.
Colet remembers their noses brushing and the warmth of Jhoanna's breath hitting her face before their lips meet in the gentlest kiss she's ever had.
It's quiet and it's brief, and before any of them could generate a thought, Colet was already pulling away. Only for Jhoanna to give her a confused frown once their eyes fluttered open.
"'Yun na 'yon?" Jhoanna asks.
"Bakit? Sabi mo kiss!"
"Oo nga, eh kaya ko din yan eh!" Jhoanna exclaims, leaning in to land another quick peck on Colet's lips. "See? Boring. 'Yung iba ituro mo sa'kin. Ayoko ng smack lang."
"Demanding amputa." Colet scoffs. "What if kay Aiah ka na lang magpaturo no'n?"
"Tingnan mo 'to. Dali na, Col! Pumayag ka na kanina eh."
"Kiss ang usapan natin kanina! Naka-dalawa ka na nga?" Colet retaliates. "Hindi ka ba nawe-weirdan sa request mo?"
"Ikaw naman kasi 'yan? Kung pwede naman pala ako pumili ng first kiss, ikaw talaga pipiliin ko."
This shuts Colet up momentarily. She will never admit it but what Jhoanna said just made her heart skip a beat.
"My point is," She starts again, trying to recover. "matututo ka din naman n'yan, Jho. You don't have to practice with me or with anybody else aside sa taong gusto mo talaga."
"Alam ko. Pero I want to." Jhoanna defiantly reasons out. "And we can argue about this all day, Col, or you could just shut up and let it happen kasi 'di na rin naman na magbabago isip ko. Take your pick."
Colet scratches the back of her head, thinking of other ways she could convince Jhoanna that this is obviously a recipe for disaster.
Ano 'to? Sitcom?
She takes one last look at the girl in front of her before begrudgingly accepting her fate. Mukhang Jhoanna isn't going to take 'no' for an answer talaga.
Colet blames her eventual submission mainly on the glasses that Jhoanna was wearing. She's not going to explain further but Colet would only like to point out that she's just a girl.
A gay girl who may or may not have a thing for women in specs.
"Sige na, sige na. Ang dami pang sinasabi." Colet huffs, an idea popping into her head. She rummages through the drawer of their bedside table and comes back with two lollipops in hand. "Pili ka."
Jhoanna eyes both candy sticks in Colet's hand and points at the one with the pink and brown wrapper.
She watches in anticipation as the older girl unwraps the lollipop and puts it in her mouth, rolling it a few times across her lips before putting it back in to rest on her tongue.
Jhoanna rubs her palms against her thighs.
That's why Jhoanna knows na no matter how poorly she performs mamaya, she's definitely in for a treat kay Colet.
Colet places the lollipop on top of its wrapper by the bedside table and rejoins Jhoanna on the bed.
"Sure ka na ba talag—"
Before Colet could start another onslaught of her paninigurado questions, she's pushed back and Jhoanna's lips are on hers again—pressing down eagerly, unmoving, and unsure what to do next.
Colet lets out a low chuckle at the enthusiasm, pulling away slightly to hold Jhoanna's chin in place.
"Ang excited naman." She teases, unconsciously biting her lip as she watches the younger girl lick her own ones at the contact.
Jhoanna could only roll her eyes in response.
Colet shakes her head in amusement. She snakes an arm around the girl's waist and presses a firm hand flat against Jhoanna's back, making the girl shiver involuntarily at the touch.
Colet looks into Jhoanna's eyes.
"Follow my lead. Habulin mo lang 'yung flavor ng lollipop." She instructs.
When Jhoanna nods, Colet closes the gap between them shortly, both girls sighing as their lips meet in a soft kiss. It makes Jhoanna grip the sheets underneath her palm, tightly.
Colet starts her out with small pecks, thumb brushing gently against Jhoanna's cheek as her other hand now rests on the younger girl's lower back for support.
"Relax." She whispers in between kisses, causing Jhoanna to let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding in. "Lalim no'n ah."
"Shut up." Jhoanna mumbles before pulling Colet back in by the collar of her sweatshirt.
Colet smiles into the kiss. She keeps their pace slow, allowing Jhoanna the time to explore the basics on her own habang siya nag-eenjoy lang sa lambot ng mga labi ni Jhoanna.
Shet.
Colet thinks na this is probably a bad idea. A stupid, terrible idea na she's going to regret right after. Pero mamaya niya na iisipin 'yun.
She's kissing Jhoanna, for crying out loud.
Halatang the girl's figuring things out pa pero Colet is trying so hard to fight the laugh bubbling up her throat because Jhoanna is just so fucking adorable with her thick, black glasses falling against the bridge of Colet's nose every once in a while.
She doesn't fail to mumble a quick 'sorry' every time na ina-adjust niya 'to, only for it to keep falling on the older girl's face again. Ang likot likot ba naman kasi.
Colet eventually removes Jhoanna's glasses for her and places them next to the lollipop on the table before she rushes to capture the girl's lips again in a searing kiss. Akala mo mga nalulunod kapag napa-paghiwalay eh.
Not that Jhoanna's complaining, of course. Hinding-hindi talaga.
As the rain continues to pour outside their dorm room window, Jhoanna and Colet's teaching lesson only gets increasingly more passionate by the minute.
Their kisses are growing more urgent, cold hands roaming inside the fabric of each other's sweatshirts as they get lost in their little world.
Jhoanna groans when she feels Colet give her slender waist a squeeze, fingernails scraping lazily against the exposed skin of her stomach as the older girl pushes the bottom of her sweatshirt higher.
"Mmh.. Col.."
Colet's ears twitch at the sound, her whole body suddenly burning after hearing her name fall from Jhoanna's lips like that. She fights the fire in her belly with absolute difficulty kasi now is not the fucking time to think of certain things.
Jhoanna trusted her enough to ask for her help and she's not going to ruin that trust by getting carried away. She can control her urges. She's done it multiple times before.
"Sorry." Colet chuckles, apologetically, retreating her hand from the younger girl's waist only for Jhoanna to yank it back and hold it in place. Their clasped hands now sitting dangerously high up Jhoanna's torso.
She gives the girl a questioning look.
"Wag mong tatanggalin." Jhoanna whispers into the older girl's lips before burying her hands in Colet's hair. She tugs on it lightly, tracing a finger up and down the base of Colet's neck in an agonizingly slow pace.
When Colet doesn't move, Jhoanna smirks devilishly. "Good girl."
...
Tangina, teka lang.
Colet practically shoves Jhoanna on the bed, her free hand shooting up to cradle the back of the girl's head before her body hits the mattress, Colet falling right after and directly on top of her. Jhoanna gasps in surprise, mouth hanging open for longer than it should and Colet swears that she's doing it on purpose.
It takes her two seconds to compose herself when Jhoanna pulls her closer, a grin spreading across her lips as she stares up at Colet. Hooded eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Tiklop sa 'good girl', Vergara? Botomesa ka pala." Jhoanna teases, taking pride in the full-on blush on Colet's face at her choice of words.
Her playfulness, however, is short-lived when Colet pulls her faded sweatshirt above her head and throws it haphazardly on the floor. Now in an army green tank top, she hovers over Jhoanna once again who looks like she was three seconds away from short-circuiting at the sight.
Bakit gano'n? Ilang beses niya naman nang nakita si Colet in this tank top but why does she look incredibly hot right now?
Fucking hell.
Jhoanna's done for.
"Ang ingay mo." Colet rasps, capturing Jhoanna's lips in another breathtaking kiss.
Hinang-hina na 'yung mga tuhod ni Jhoanna. Lalo na when Colet swipes her tongue across Jhoanna's bottom lip, leaving the younger girl dizzy with desire as she finally introduces her tongue into her mouth.
Hindi na alam ni Jhoanna kung tama ba ginagawa niya pero with Colet being as eager as she is with her right now, she doesn't really care. They're a hot mess. Teeth and tongue clashing together as Colet's hands leave goosebumps all over her skin. Confirmed, binabaliw na siya ni Colet.
Jhoanna feels Colet smile into the kiss again and she may as well burn it into her fucking brain, thinking that it's the sexiest thing ever. Without a thought, Jhoanna sinks her teeth into the older girl's bottom lip, harshly. The gasp Colet let out made her body physically ache, craving for more.
"Aray ha." Colet whispers and all Jhoanna could think of was that godforsaken smile.
Her heart pounds in her chest, every ounce of restraint out the window as she lets herself be overtaken by want. If Jhoanna really wanted to learn, she better not just lie there and let Colet do all the work.
When Colet was about to dive back in, Jhoanna held her by the waist and flipped them on the bed, successfully eliciting another gasp of surprise from the older girl when her back hit the mattress.
"What the f—"
It's the second time today that Colet had been cut off by Jhoanna's lips on hers.
"Tanginang ngiti kasi 'yan." Jhoanna says before leaving one long, hard kiss on Colet's lips. "Sarap solohin."
Colet was about to chase after her as she was pulling away but Jhoanna's hand held her jaw in place.
"Relax." Jhoanna whispers, brushing her nose against the side of Colet's face before she dips her head lower, leaving a trail of tiny kisses all over her jaw until she reaches the older girl's neck.
Colet breathes, heavily. It doesn't help na Jhoanna held her other hand by the wrist, pinning it above her head before she slips her fingers in between the gaps, tenderly.
Colet's not sure if she should point out na hanggang labi lang dapat sila kasi she's pretty sure na 'yun lang 'yung usapan kanina. But then Jhoanna starts kissing her neck and her mind goes blank. Bahala na talaga.
Jhoanna gives their intertwined hands a gentle squeeze each time she lands a kiss on Colet's glistening skin. She continues her ministrations until she reaches a spot underneath the girls jaw that made Colet freeze beneath her.
Bingo.
Jhoanna wastes no time in planting her lips on the girl's pulse point, giving it the attention that it deserved. Colet felt like she was about to pass out, her grip on Jhoanna's hair nearing desparation as she felt the younger girl suck harshly on her skin with a flat tongue soothing over it right after. 'Di pa talaga nagpa-awat si Jhoanna, inulit-ulit pa.
Colet bit down on her tongue to stop herself from moaning Jhoanna's name.
Jhoanna, on the other hand, was lost in the high of hearing Colet's labored breathing underneath her as she kissed every inch of skin she could lay her eyes on.
She was about to shift into a different position on the bed when her knee accidentally slipped between Colet's thighs, making Colet arch her back in pleasure.
"Fuck, Jho." Colet curses under her breath and it sends shockwaves throughout Jhoanna's whole being.
They stop.
Nagkatinginan.
And before they knew it, they both burst out laughing. The heat of the moment slowly melting into a familiar warmth of amusement and comfort as they pull theirselves back into reality.
Goddamn, that was...something.
Colet sits up on the bed and gently pulls Jhoanna with her, arms wrapping the younger girl in a loose embrace as she drops her forehead against Colet's shoulder.
A comfortable silence blankets over them as they both try to catch their breath.
Colet was the first one to speak. "Niloloko mo ata ako eh," She chuckles. "'hindi marunong' my ass."
Jhoanna raises her head at this, not even attempting to hide the grin on her face as she stares at Colet who was now combing a hand through her hair.
Colet counters.
"Weh ba?" Jhoanna inches closer, inspecting Colet's lips with genuine concern.
Colet could only stare at the girl in amusement, her right hand running up and down her back in comforting circles.
"Hala, oo nga! Sorry, Col. Masakit ba?"
"Masarap." Colet answers immediately, earning her a slap to the shoulder from a now blushing Jhoanna. "Aray ko! It's fine! Nangyayari talaga 'yan minsan."
"Malandi ka. Wait lang."
Jhoanna lifts herself from the bed to grab a few ice cubes from their mini fridge. Napanggigilan niya pala masyado.
Is it wrong to say na hindi talaga siya sorry?
"Ang panget tingnan, Col." Jhoanna mumbles after a while, eyes never leaving Colet's lips.
"Wow. Salamat ha?"
"What if...pantayin natin."
Colet blinks at the girl in disbelief. Jhoanna was staring back at her with the most innocent look in her eyes.
"Anong pantayin ka d'yan? Sumosobra ka na."
"Damot." Jhoanna pouts, petulantly. "Pa-kiss pa ako."
"Anong—Jhoanna Christine!" Colet warns.
"Shh. Bakit ka ba nasigaw?"
"Anong pa-kiss? Nagdudugo na labi ko!"
Jhoanna nearly cackles at the statement, eyes twinkling as if she was waiting for Colet to say those exact same words.
"Madali akong kausap."
ha????
Colet freezes in her spot when Jhoanna crawls on top of her, knees dipping into the mattress as she straddles the older girl's lap. Ice cubes forgotten and strewn on the floor. Jhoanna can clean it up later.
She loops her arms around Colet's shoulders and takes a part of the older girl's ear between her teeth, pulling on it slightly.
Colet visibly gulps, the fire in her belly returning with exceptional force.
Lord, tabang.
"Sabi mo one-time thing lang 'to 'di ba?" Jhoanna whispers, swiping her tongue against the shell of Colet's ear before she traces another trail of kisses down the girl's jaw with her lips. "Lulubusin ko na."
And before anyone could judge the haste in which Colet had reconnected their lips in a languid kiss, she'd like to remind that Colet is just a girl.
Busted, bloody lips be damned.
