The Forgotten Daughter of Irene Belserion

Summary:

Irene Belserion suffered at the hands of her husband and Kingdom after they betray her. After escaping and living 400 miserable years as a Dragon, Irene manages to give birth to her daughter, Erza Belserion.

But Irene abandons Erza after her plan to steal her child's body fails. Irene had no time for worthless trash. That's what she told herself at least. She would find another method to return to her human self. So she joins Emperor Spriggan's Empire.

When the day comes to invade Fiore for the Fairy Heart Irene is confronted by a ghost from her past. A girl she thought she had buried long ago.

But someone else is with Erza. Upon seeing the young child's face, her mind begins to crack as memories flood her mind.

Who was this child?! Whose memories were these?

Notes:

This story is going to be a heavy canon divergence but still be grounded within the Fairy Tail universe's rules. If that's not your thing then this story might not be your cup of tea!

I got this idea while reading Fairy Tail's 100 Year Quest! I thought it would be interesting to expand upon this random thought!

Chapter 1: My Daughters

Chapter Text

Irene Belserion, the strongest High Enchantress in the Alvarez Empire clapped as she congratulated her long lost daughter, Erza.

“You get a flower.” Irene said, smiling at Erza as the High Enchantress revealed the sword attacks she deflected into the shape of a flower.

The young dark blue haired girl gasped in shock but Irene ignored her. Irene frankly didn’t care about that small Dragon-Slayer brat. Erza was her main target.

But Irene felt something was odd about the girl. The more and more Irene glanced over at the child, her head would ache. Irene tried her best not to look but for some reason she couldn’t help herself.

Her headache pulsed and it felt like someone was pounding her head with a chisel and hammer.

“Who are you?” Erza asked, her frown mixed with curiosity as she wished to know who this mysterious powerful woman was. So Irene Belserion revealed the terrifying truth to Erza.

Irene was Erza’s birth mother. She told Erza her past and the absolute misery she endured for 400 years before eventually giving birth. And not long afterwards, abandoning Erza after deeming her worthless in her plan to regain her human body.

Erza said nothing but stared at Irene with her fixed frown. Of course she sympathized with her ‘mother’ but Irene had already hurt her friends, her guild, her family. Erza was not going to hold back.

Irene wouldn’t have preferred it any other way. She was going to bury Erza and her past together once and for all. Irene looked over at Wendy and suddenly she winced when an intense surge of pain filled her body.

Irene audibly gasped as she clutched her head in a vain attempt to soothe her pain. Just what was happening to her?! Suddenly something flashed inside Irene’s mind.

“Mommy! Look!” squealed a little girl with dark blue hair who was no older than four years old as she pointed at a box of candy.

“W-what have you done to me?!” Irene shrieked as she accusingly pointed at Wendy with a shaky finger while her other hand grasped onto her staff to prevent her from falling over.

Wendy looked at Erza terrified but Erza gave her a reassuring nod and faced Irene again.

Irene grit her teeth with anger. This fight was dragging out and no longer fun. This was dangerous and Irene was going to end this now!

So the battle continued as Irene battled both Fairy Tail girls. Sudden flashes of obscure memories filled her mind. Irene’s grip on her sanity was quickly slipping.

The battle drew to its conclusion. After being defeated in her dragon form and Erza having destroyed her meteor spell, both girls had expended all their magic and energy. They could no longer move a single inch.

Irene grinned as she raised her sword to finally rid herself of her past. But her hand trembled as memories of holding Erza as a baby flooded her.

Irene’s body shook as Erza smiled fearlessly in the face of death. And as Irene looked over at Wendy, something inside her cracked. Like a mirror on a wall, the illusion was shattered.

Tears poured down Irene’s face as she remembered everything. The true reason she left Erza behind…and…Wendy’s true identity.

“M-my daughters…” Irene whimpered.

Wendy and Erza's mouths gasped open.

Daughters?! What did she mean?! What was going on?!

It was time for secrets to be unraveled.
