Chapter Text
Getou Suguru has only one goal in mind. To get out of poverty. A goal like that isn’t simple to achieve. He is very aware of the fact that many had attempted and failed.
The world they live in holds a great divide between sexes and alphas have the most privileges. Being born as a Beta or Omega is like getting the short end of the stick.
As luck will have it, Suguru Getou has not only presented as an Omega, but he is also born into poverty and has been orphaned since the age of five.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances, Suguru believes that he is special. While he is lacking the financial department, he is graced with a beautiful face and more than enough brain cells to be considered exceptionally smart.
He also likes to believe that he can put these brain cells and his beauty to good use and has used his beauty as a weapon to move up in life.
This world is unkind to Omegas, especially orphaned ones.
Adults alike have power over children. Many were taken advantage off in the orphanage. Mainly the older children unable to get adopted fell into abuse of perverted adults.
He has witnessed more than enough at his young age of eighteen. If he wasn’t poor, he would have never had to go through the humiliation that he did at the orphanage, that’s why he is going to marry rich alpha.
Sure, working hard is an option too, but Suguru had struggled more than enough. He wants to be pampered and treated like a princess that he is.
He wants that chanel bag. He wants the Valentino shoes. And Suguru desperately wants that shopping trip in Paris. He only needs a wealthy enough Alpha to provide him all of his desires.
His hand is steady as he applies a straight line of eyeliner at the corner of his eyelid, drawing a little wing, making his eyes look foxier and more seductive. His phone screen lights up, vibrating on his run-down vanity desk his boyfriend provided him with after complaining about not having enough storage space for his makeup.
To say that Suguru was disappointed when he saw that it wasn’t brand new like he expected, is an understatement.
He was ready to throw the vanity desk at his boyfriend’s head, but he only remained quiet instead.
A secondhand vanity desk was still better than no vanity desk.
He wanted to laugh at the way it perfectly fitted into his equally run down apartment and his shitty, poverty-stricken neighborhood. He hates everything about his place.
The people that are his neighbors, his bum of a landlord and the way the water never heats up right, so Suguru has no other choice but to wash himself with freezing water.
One day he will leave this place and never look back, and the incoming call is his ticket to a better life.
He waits a few seconds before he swipes to the green button.
“Baby why are you not answering your phone,” a deep voice mutters on the other side of the line. Suguru purrs instantly, showing his happiness for the blonde Alpha to hear.
“Sorry, I was doing my makeup,” Suguru puts his new boyfriend on the speaker and continues to repeat the same process on the other eye.
“Are you busy this Friday? I want to take you out to dinner. That new Italian place you showed me.”
Suguru’s ears perk up at the mention of the restaurant. He is wanting to go there for ages now, but one needs to make a reservation three weeks in advance. To know that Nanami is able to get them a reservation in such a short amount of time is a total turn on.
“Are you sure that you want to be seen in public with your student?” Suguru asks. “Won’t you be risking your job?”
“Don’t worry your pretty head about it.” Nanami’s husky voice sends shivers down his spine. “Do you have something to wear?”
“I don’t,” Suguru pouts even though Nanami can’t see him.
“I will transfer you the money. Buy yourself something pretty.”
Suguru squeals with his feet up in the air as the call ends. Immediately checking his bank account for the transfer, it was a nice sum, enough for him to buy a nice outfit and a new pair of shoes he has been wanting for a while.
Although he and Nanami went way back when he was still his professor in high school, their relationship had only started weeks ago when Suguru became his Assistant for a business class that he is teaching. Spending time alone together after classes brought them closer and one thing just led to another, and now they are in a secret relationship.
A student teacher relationship is strongly forbidden. Nanami can loose his job if anyone were to find out that they are seeing each other, especially since Nanami had been the one to help him to get the scholarship.
But these are all issues that can be solved with a mating bite. Suguru had already started to plant the seeds into Nanami’s brain, it won’t be long until the seeds fester and Suguru is taken care of for life. There is also a tiny problem where his best friend is in love with Nanami and is unaware of their relationship, but Suguru will tackle the problem as it comes. Securing the bag is the top priority.
Suguru admires his work in the mirror. The eyeliner is perfectly drawn, enhancing his foxy eyes and delicate features, but most importantly his hair is shiny. Haibara treated him to a haircut for his eighteenth birthday and Suguru had opted for a wolf cut due to the approaching summer heat.
The clothes he wears are a hand-me down from Haibara too. Suguru hates taking pity from anyone, especially from Haibara, who has it all, but in order to fit in with his peers in University, he has no other choice but to accept. Everything Haibara owns is designer and Suguru is sure that most of it was only worn once or twice before falling into his hands.
He applies his pheromone enhancer before grabs his tiny purse and phone. Haibara had invited him to a night out, and he is waiting downstairs in the taxi, ready to whore himself to any blonde-haired Alpha that resembles his crush.
Just as he is about to leave his apartment, he is struck be the ring of the doorbell. Suguru never has visitors. Not even Haibara, who is his best friend, has come up to his apartment. Which leaves only one person to stand behind that door and Suguru is not eager to open it.
“Suguru, it’s me open up,” his stomach churns at the way Toji, his landlord, calls his name. Suguru usually tries to avoid Toji as much as possible, taking measures to come down to the ground floor, where Toji lives with his kid, to bring him the money for rent. He was too taken with Nanami that he must have forgotten that it is already the end of the month, and rent is due.
Suguru only half opens the door, Toji’s bright smirk is plastered on his face at the sight of Suguru in his updo.
“Where are you going this dolled up,” he licks his lips, not trying to hide the ogling and the too long lingering gazes on his chest and groin area.
“Nowhere.”
Toji takes one strand of his hair and twirls it around his fingers. Suguru wants to throw up, but he tries his best to remain cordial with Toji.
“Hmm, you're getting this dolled up with my money hun?”
“Sorry, money has been tight this month, but I have it. Wait here.” He shuts the door to his face, letting out a silent scream at his luck. Maybe he can buy the shoes next month, or he will make Nanami buy them for him.
He takes the envelope with his savings and takes out the exact amount of his rent, returning the rest under the mattress.
Suguru opens the door and hands Toji the envelope, who doesn’t hide his dissatisfaction at the sight of it. He must have wanted another sort of payment, but Suguru is no whore, and he’d rather die than be sighted with a bum like Toji.
“Don’t bother coming upstairs again. I will come with the exact amount when rent is due.”
Toji leans on the door, his arm muscles flex at the motion. Knowing Toji he does things like that on purpose, wanting to impress Suguru with his well-trained body and a rather handsome face and if it were any other Omega, they might have fallen into bed with Toji a long time ago already. But Suguru is no idiot. A widower like Toji has nothing to offer an Omega like Suguru, who can pick anyone he wants. Hopefully Toji can get the idea that he is not interested.
“I came to tell you that I’m gonna raise the rent. You know how it is, inflation, kids and all that.” Suguru furrows his brows as Toji continues “But I understand that it’s hard for you, so we can work something out, you and I.”
“You raised the rent last month.”
“And I’m raising it again.”
This fucker. He wants to punch him so bad, but that will only make him homeless. On another thought this is a good idea. Nanami could take him in and the end result would be in them mating.
“Dad, a man is here to see you,” Megumi, the little blessing that he is, yells from downstairs. He is the only good thing in this rotten neighborhood, but Suguru pities him. He won’t come far with a father like Toji, keeping him back.
“Thanks for the info. See you around Toji.” Suguru slams the door in his face, before Toji has the chance to speak. If he is down to fight, Suguru will take him on. He may be an Omega, but he is well trained in martial arts. Suguru can protect himself.
“I want to get wasted,” Haibara cheers, his enthusiasm so big to enrapture anyone in his vicinity, Suguru too would be elated if it weren’t for his little encounter with Toji. They are riding a taxi, paid by the generous Haibara, who is invited to a club opening by some rich Alpha. He wasn’t told all the details, only that they had unlimited free drinks and for Suguru that was enough. Just like Haibara, he too plans to get wasted tonight. Just for tonight he wants to pretend like he belongs in this world of glamour, but he knows that after this night he will crave more.
“You are unusually silent, something worrying you,” Haibara asks, and his kindness almost makes him feel guilty of the things he is doing behind his supposedly best friends back. Maybe he should feel guilty, but guilt has no space for people like Suguru, so he brushes him off.
“It’s just the summer heat. Don’t worry.”
“Okay, if you say so.” Haibara doesn’t question him further and has already switched the topic to something more pleasant. He had to give him more credit for his intelligence. Sometimes he forgets how perceptive Haibara can be to others’ emotions.
“Do you think that there are many hot alphas there? I really want to find someone to forget about Nanami.”
Suguru doesn’t really want to talk or think about Nanami tonight. Especially not with Haibara. He knows how deep the Omega’s feelings for Nanami run, he had always known, he just chose to be selfish and still went for Nanami. If Haibara finds out, when he finds out, he will never forgive him. Suguru will loose his only friend, but that’s the price he has to pay for his dream. One cannot have everything in this world. To achieve something, one had to sacrifice another to keep the balance up. A person who has it all doesn’t exist.
“There are many Alphas, even more handsome as Nanami.” He assures.
“But I want him. I love him,” Haibara pouts. “I want to be his mate.”
Suguru chuckles. It’s cute how rich people believe in love. They think that true love exists and have that idealistic view to mate for love and Suguru thinks is bullshit. He doesn’t have that luxury. He needs to mate for money, because love won’t feed you when you are hungry.
“Love is fleeting. You should focus more on studying.”
“You are so boring.” Haibara turns to him, they are sitting close to each other, legs almost brushing if they were to move an inch. His round brown eyes have a warm hold over him, always watching him, admiring him be it near or from afar. Suguru wants to look away, but that will only show his guilt and shame.
“I bet that if I had your looks, I could make Nanami fall in love with me easily.”
Suguru’s breath hitches. Does he know? No, he was very careful. He never opened his messages in front of him, always appeared uninterested in lectures. It can’t be.
“What do you mean by that,” he baits him. Maybe he doesn’t know, but he suspects something. Maybe this is a test, and he wants Suguru to confess.
The silence stretches between them until it’s finally broken by Haibara’s giggle.
“My head is spinning.”
Suguru falls back into his seat, relief washing over him like cold water.
“Apparently the club owner is an extremely handsome alpha. You think that he would be into me.”
“What’s the owner’s name again?”
“Don’t know, just know that it’s a Gojo.”
Suguru’s ears perk up. “The Gojo….” Where did Suguru hear that name before.
“Don’t tell me you don’t know about the Gojo family?” Haibara gawks in disbelief at his ignorance.
“The name does sound familiar.”
“They are like the wealthiest family in Japan. Do you know what that means”
Suguru’s breath hitches. Oh, he knows what it means. It finally clicks in his brain. He knows very well who the Gojo’s are. They are the scholarship donors, which meant they own the University where Suguru studies and he has them to thank that he is able to even attend such a prestigious University. They are the definition of old money and Suguru is going to a club opening where a Gojo might potentially be.
“How did you get invited again?”
“I told you already. My father is one of their doctor’s, so they gave him an invite.”
Right. Suguru forgot how influential Haibara’s family can be.
“Are you sure that a Gojo will attend tonight?”
“Well, they should be, it’s their club opening silly. Why what are you going to do?”
Haibara knows that Suguru is struggling financially. He is a scholarship student, living in a poor neighborhood, what he doesn’t know is that Suguru wants to mate up. And that he has been using Haibara all this time to be closer to the rich circle. Of course he cherishes his friend, but it is a bonus that the Omega is well of himself and is a part of a big social circle. His connection to the Gojos is like gold falling into his hands.
For the first time in a long time Suguru is hungry. It is a familiar hunger, like hunger for the first spot in university or hunger for success, only this time he is aiming for a real person. He immediately unlocks his phone. He ignores the messages from Nanami and opens up google, typing in the Gojo name and club opening in Shibuya. The first picture that pops up leaves him breathless and excited. Gojo Satoru, the heir of the Gojo family. The most eligible Alpha in Japan, single and no pups. The Omega inside him purrs at the thought. He scrolls through his Instagram with one of his fake accounts just to make sure that there is no Omega in sight, and he is pleased that he is always single in photos or in groups, but never with an Omega or a Beta.
He goes through some comments of his pictures, his lips slightly curling at how thirsty most of the people were for him, begging him for his knot or even a mating bite. He is probably shooting to high, aiming for the highest star when there are dozens of stars at his disposal, easy to reach, but Gojo Satoru represents everything Suguru has ever dreamed of, the life that he wants to live. Unlike those tiny stars, he can provide Suguru with everything he has dreamed of, even more than Nanami. Suguru has nothing to lose, so he is ready to risk it all. Gojo Satoru will be his.
