On October 31, 2040 all the magic users, human and non-human, and all the remaining magical beasts disappeared from Old Earth in an apparition crack heard around the globe.
It had been a long time coming. The Cleansing of the magical world of cursed soul magic had been the start of redeeming Hecate’s children. But non-magic users had always been a jealous lot and they bred faster than magic users. It didn’t help that the patriarchs that ruled Trinity’s people had deliberately conflated necromancy and the blackest soul magic with generative and nature magic.
And acting for the good of the all, including the planet itself, was not something any of the patriarchs, whether they claimed to be Trinity’s sons or not, could fathom. And they hated anything they could not understand or control.
Cooperation between magicals and non-magicals worked for only very short times. Hiding and secrecy was no longer tenable. Non-magical technology was too powerful for that.
So Hecate planned and worked and finally took her children to a place where non-magicals of this universe would not find them. And she locked her own magic away from Old Earth.
