Work Text:

There he stood, in defiance of an inevitable death.

The man I love, the father of our child. He stood there, resolute and unyielding, ready to face an invincible enemy. His eyes held a determination that I had always admired, now tinged with a finality that broke my heart.

I watched him, clutching our infant daughter close to my chest. She stirred slightly, her tiny hand grasping at the air, unaware of the weight of the moment. My tears fell silently, a torrent of sorrow and fear. I could only stand and witness as my beloved husband prepared to leave us, to face the inevitable.

He stepped closer, his hand gently caressing Pan's cheek before wiping the tears from my face. His hand was rough and calloused, yet his touch was tender, filled with love and unspoken promises. I wanted to scream, to beg him not to go, but my voice was trapped by the lump in my throat. Instead, I buried my face in Pan’s soft hair, drawing strength from her innocence.

He pulled us into his arms, holding us both tightly. The warmth of his embrace was a fleeting comfort, a momentary shield against the crushing reality. I could feel his resolve, his determination to protect us at any cost. It was both a blessing and a curse, knowing that his love for us was driving him to this ultimate sacrifice.

As he pulled away, I felt a part of my heart breaking. The finality of his departure settled in, and I knew there was no changing his mind. He was going to fight, even if it meant never coming back. I watched him, a silent plea in my eyes, but he turned away, his figure a blur of motion as he flew toward the inevitable battle.

The world seemed darker, the sky a heavy gray, as if the heavens mourned with me. I clenched my chest, cradling our daughter tightly, hoping for his return. Days turned into weeks, and the news of his fate reached us. He had fallen, just as I feared. The grief was overwhelming, a constant ache in my chest that never seemed to fade.

Amidst the sorrow, there were the memories—memories of his laughter, his kindness, his pure soul, his unwavering determination. The way he looked at me with such a soft, gentle face, the way he cradled Pan in his arms with such care and tenderness—these memories became my solace, my strength.

I found myself clinging to the little things: the way he used to smile, the sound of his voice, the warmth of his touch. I would sit by the window, Pan in my arms, watching the horizon where he disappeared, hoping to feel his presence one last time.

The pain of losing Gohan would never truly fade, but I found solace in knowing that his spirit lived on in Pan. And as she grew, I saw glimpses of him in her. In her eyes, I saw his determination; in her laughter, I heard his joy; and in her heart, I felt his love.

For his legacy, I would be strong. For Pan’s future, I would carry on. Gohan may have fallen, but his dream of a better world would live on through us. And together, we would make sure his sacrifice was not in vain.

In the quiet moments, when the world seemed too heavy to bear, Pan would hold me close. I would remember Gohan’s words, his unspoken promise to always be with us. I would draw strength from his memory, from the love we shared, and I would face each day with renewed determination.

For his memory, for our future, I would stand tall. The road ahead was uncertain, filled with challenges and heartache, but I knew that as long as I had Pan, as long as I carried Gohan’s love in my heart, we would endure. We would thrive.

On that day, there he stood, in defiance of an inevitable death, for a future he would never bear witness to. And in the end, we would honor his sacrifice by living the life he fought so hard to protect.
For his legacy, for her future, we would carry on.
