Where The Wind Meets The Sea

Summary:

When Sanemi is sent on a mission with Giyuu Tomioka, he doesn't know what to expect. Annoyance, awkwardness, and animosity for sure.

But when the demon they encounter has a blood demon art no one could have expected, things take a turn for the...weird?

Or how Sanemi realizes that him and Giyuu actually make a really good team.

Chapter Text

“Him?" Sanemi asked, disbelief and anger coating his voice. “You want me to go on a mission, alone, with him?" He pointed to a silent Giyuu, who's neutral face placed him somewhere between not giving a shit and not even listening in the first place.

Their master sighed like a tired parent, making Sanemi flinch. “Yes,” he said.

Giyuu continued looking into the distance, and Sanemi wondered for a moment what, genuinely, was wrong with him.

Sanemi huffed, but said nothing else, looking at Giyuu with resignation.

Giyuu, finally, looked between them, then nodded solemnly. He walked away without another word, and Sanemi gaped at the disrespect.

Sanemi pinched the area above his nose, waring with an already building headache. Shinobu had been, forcefully, teaching him anger management for the past few months. He had been getting headaches frequently since they started.

“You are dismissed,” Ubuyashiki said, the corners of his lips turning up into a smile.

Sanemi bowed one last time, then hurried, reluctantly, after one Giyuu Tomioka.

Giyuu spared him only a glance as they matched pace, their feet falling silently on the worn dirt path.

“The demon is apparently targeting young men,” Sanemi said, repeating the debrief from their master, unsure if Giyuu had been listening.

“I’m aware,” Giyuu responded, deadpan.

Sanemi huffed in exasperation, neglecting to speak again.
