Hilda's little errand boy

Summary:

Hilda is tasked by Byleth to go to a market near Garreg Mach to buy some supplies for the army, but as always,Hilda tries to get a certain boy to do it for her,but unfortunately for her,she is dragged along to do her chores

Work Text:

It was a hot evening today,Hilda was resting in one of the gardens of the monastery, even if we're at war, a delicate flower like her needs to rest here and there. However, she was tasked by the professor to go to the market and buy some needed supplies.

Hilda was looking at every boy that passed by her, thinking which of them was going to be the unfortunate boy to do her errands for her

Then bingo! The perfect guy was just approaching her!

“ Ah,good evening Hilda! I was about to make some tea to accompany the lovely weather we have today! Would you like some? “ - Ferdinand said with overwhelming positivity as always

“ Awhh you're sweet Ferdinand! I'd really LOVE to,but sadly I have to go to the market now… But the thing is that I hurt my foot! So I don't know how I'll go…” - she pouted

That was obviously a huge lie,she was just hoping to hear what she usually hears,”Don't worry I'll do it for you, tell me the list!” and not do it herself

However, Ferdinand had a different reply to what she expected

“ I see… well I could help you get to the market? You could ride my horse or I can carry you? The market is near the monastery! “ - the boy said with enthusiasm

Hilda was caught off guard, “ Why does he want me to go so badly? Also carry me himself? Really? What am I supposed to do now? “ - she thought and thought until she realised that she couldn't get out of this one

“ Oh uhm no,no there's no need I uhm… feel better now! Yeah, don't worry I'm sure I can go! “ - she reassured him while stuttering

“ Are you sure? Well I can still do it whenever you need- “

“ I am sure,I promise! It's okay don't worry “ - Hilda cut him off,if she was actually going to have to do the shopping she'd rather do it quickly

“ Well if you say so…. I just have one tiny request for you,may I tag along? I was looking for you to have tea,but going to the market doesn't sound bad! What do you say? “ - His eyes lightened,he looked like a puppy whose owner mentioned the phrase “ Let's go for a walk! “ , Hilda had to admit it was adorable

Her plan failed… successfully? She will have someone to carry her stuff but she still has to go regardless, well she'll take any help she can get

“ Of COURSE you can silly! You're a great help! “ - Hilda affirmed him

The two of them began walking towards the market that was,as Ferdinand stated before, very close to the monastery, making the walk not too bothersome for the supposedly “hurt” Hilda

Said market was pretty crowded,it made sense because it had everything, from weapons to clothing, you name it!

“ Okay so the professor tasked us to get potions and vegetables,no weapons just that, got it? “ - she remarked especially the things they had to get

“ I assure you I will not fail! Let us split,I shall get the potions and you get the vegetables, when I finish I'll go look for you okay? “ - He reassured her with huge enthusiasm, like always

As they said, they split and both went too look for what was needed, although the shop was crowded,it was very easy to find stuff! Hilda finished early since they mostly needed potions for battles in the future

While she waited for Ferdinand to come, she began to look around at other shops nearby so her errand boy wouldn't have trouble finding her, luckily near the vegetable shop there was one filled with jewellery!

Hilda lost track of time and her surrounding while she was looking around, there was this adorable necklace that she wanted to buy,but with the rush she forgot to bring her money

“ May I buy this one? “ - a familiar voice asked the shopkeeper,as they took the necklace that Hilda was looking at

She couldn't say anything since it was her fault for not bringing any money, until she looked at who bought it

“ Ferdinand!? I didn't know you liked jewellery? “ - Hilda asked in shock

“ Well I gotta admit it's very pretty indeed, but I didn't buy it for me,here have it “ - The boy said with a soft tone

“ Oh.. I uhm, thanks! Sorry, I just didn't expect that haha… “ - She nervously laughed,it's not that she hated the gift,it's just that it was one of the sweetest things someone did to her,and without even asking him to

“ Ah,do you not like it? I can still refund it you don't - “

“ No I… love it, really thank you! “ - She cut him off to reaffirm how much she liked it,that was the right move since Ferdinand stopped worrying and smiled at her

After they both counted if they already bought everything, they decided to stroll around the market for a while before going back

They spent a long while having fun looking at what the market had to offer however they had to return at one point,so after looking at every shop they decided it was time to go back

“ That was… actually way more fun than what I thought it'd be! I'm sure it's because I was with you “ - Hilda chuckled

The silence filled the path back to the monastery,it was so quiet an overthinker would be dead by then. Ferdinand is usually a guy that really likes to talk, but he was awfully quiet, you could say even… nervous?

He suddenly stopped walking,by that point Hilda was already a bit worried, she was about to ask him if something was wrong but he began talking first

“ Hilda… you see,the reason why I wanted you to come along with me is that,I wanted to show you a special place that's near this path. It's very close,I promise, would you like to go? “ - He stumbled with his words while trying to sound less nervous

So *that's* why,he usually would help Hilda without trying to involve her,he knew he was being used, but he didn't mind

“ Ah… well now that we're here,I don't mind! Sure, let's go “ - Hilda smiled at him

His eyes lighten up once again,he didn't say anything he just grabbed her hand and guided the way,Hilda started to feel a bit nervous as well,it's like his nervousness was a contagious disease spreading, and now it got to her

(You know… this feels more like a date than just a chore… but that's silly to imagine…) - Hilda thought to herself, although the way to said spot was close it felt eternal as a bunch of thoughts crossed her mind

And so they got there,it was a beautiful cliff surrounded with some wood fences so no one fell off,the sight was beautiful, the sun who was already setting, bathing in the sky with a pinkish tint as it went down

“ Wow… Ferdinand, this is… so pretty “ - Hilda told him while she was mesmerised by the beautiful sight in front of her

She was looking at the sight still, ignoring Ferdinand on purpose, she knew he probably wanted to say something important to her so she thought it'd be easier for him if she wasn't staring at him

“ I'm very glad you like it,when I saw the sun setting with such beauty,I thought of you,and knew I had to bring you here “ - He mentioned, watching the sun calmed him down a bit

( Hold on now, he thought of me while the sun looked this pretty? When I said this felt like a date I was joking you know…) - she mumbled to herself, starting to blush a little

“ Hilda,I have something important to tell you, please listen to me. “ - he stated nervously, yet with confidence

He suddenly moved forward and grabbed her hands not long after he said that, staring right into her eyes. Hilda was caught off guard and just looked at him back, her eyes reaffirming that she wanted to hear the rest

“ I.. I've loved you for a while now, your beauty.. and every minute we spend together, it feels like i was given a piece of paradise, I love you, it's okay if you don't love me back,I just had to tell you “ - He declared confidently, eager for an answer

Hilda was caught off guard once again, she didn't know what to say other than “ That was the most romantic thing I've ever been told “ , struggling to find the words to say,she replied

“ You're really sweet you know Ferdinand, I've gotten quite attached to you,but you know that if you want to be with me you'll be doomed with being my errand boy for eternity “ - she joked in a playful tone

“ If that's what it takes for you to love me,I'll do all the chores I have to until I get to the one that finally allows you to be mine, even if that takes an eternity “ - he declared in a serious tone,he wanted her love more than anything

“ I'm joking of COURSE! I love you too Ferdinand, you're the sweetest boy I've met,and I love to spend all my days with you “ - she said while staring at him lovingly

They still both were holding hands, while staring at each other, smiling ,you could tell what they felt was true love, one that no one could ever get in between

“ So… this means that we're now.. you know… “ - Ferdinand broke the ice awkwardly hinting what was obvious already

“ Oh come on you already know what it means! Just kiss me already silly! “ - She teased him playfully

Seconds after they both shared a passionate kiss while being bathed by the sun who was almost fully set,a beautiful scenery and a beautiful couple,it looked straight out of a novel

The couple shared hands as they began to go back to the monastery,it was getting late already. The path that before was filled with silence was suddenly filled with whispers filled with love, and some kisses here and there, both lovers were giggling the more they spoke

However both were so into the conversation they forgot the things they bought at the cliff

…And afterwards got scolded by Byleth for forgetting the supplies

Maybe love doesn't always win…
