Chapter Text

    SLASH! BOOM! ... THUD!

The monstrous creature screeched one last time before it fell to the ground with a thud. The victor - a lady - sighed, wiping the sweat off her chin with an exhale. She stabs her sword on the simulated floor and pushed herself up, stumbling slightly as her bloody and bruised body register the pain.

Golden eyes looked around the area, observing the rooms that doesn't follow the laws of gravity. She can see moving cubes, rooms within cubes that are upside down, moving cubes that close off paths and lead to another.

If she were to make a reference, it was similar to the Sea of Quanta, however the laws aren't the same. The Sea of Quanta is a mess of a space where bubble universes and memories remain after falling of the "Imaginary Tree"

"It's much more stable here.", she claimed. "And peaceful.", she continued, pulling her sword off the ground. Usually, the slit that her sword left would've remained, if it was concrete, or soil, but the ground fixes this injury as soon as the sword was pulled out.

Usually, this space is pristine, a perfect barrier between creation and the infinite void, however, ever since the mistake of a skeleton, the barrier between is now slowly becoming unstable, letting Abyssal creatures from the void enter through the cracks.

Being the only entity who can travel multiverses willingly, she was the only one who could visually see and fight for it.

She sighed again, "What do I call you?", she asks, looking around, "You're not the Sea of Quanta, your characteristic is far from it. You keep the real world stable, protecting it from the void.", she continues, "I'll just dub you as the 'space between' for now.", she announces with a proud nod, and finally approached the slowly decaying Abyssal creature that she took down.

Once the creature's form dissipated, it left nothing but a singular white orb. When you destroy a matter made of nothing with something, its core is converted to correspond. Should she have killed it with her own control over the void, it would've just melted along with the body.

"Time to go home.", she decides, extending her hand towards the floating orb, which flies into her grasp. She inspects it for a moment, before she throws it on the ground, the impact shattering it into fragments, before those fragments gathers itself to create a white swirling portal. An exit.

Without hesitation, she hopped into the portal.

A lady lying in her bed lets out a massive exhale, her eyes opening wide as she jumps up from the bed. She's disoriented, her vision blurry as she struggled in between coughs.

"Where —", she asked in a croaked voice, her question halted by the next set of coughs that comes out of her. Memories that aren't hers flooded her mind like a tsunami, overflowing her ability to think, the rush of memories hitting her like a freight train, causing a migraine. When her coughs cleared, it left her throat scratching, her eyes watering, and heaving for air.

"Damn it, d-don't hit me - cough - with it… all a-at once.", she cursed, taking the pillow from the head of the bed and pushed her face into it, trying to close off her senses, stop the itching, over sensitized feeling that's making her brain go whack.

She remains in that position for minutes, hours, stars, she doesn't know how long, but she lifts her head up from the pillow and only opened her eyes and took deep breaths. Finally oriented with this new reality, she looks around the bedroom.

"This is… Goldie's room?", she guessed. "But… it's empty.", she mutters as she slides off the bed. It wasn't exactly empty, per se. Gold's room was filled with memorabilia, a corner of her bedroom was designated to be her crochet space — a bean bag, two round plastic seats on each sides of that bean bag chair that has two baskets, one is filled with rolled yarn (and there also some unopened yarn inside two more baskets under that plastic chair) and the other basket is filled with finished works, hats, gloves, scarves, if she had time, she can make it.

"She also gifted the Queen a crocheted sweater for giftmas.", she remembers, looking at the empty space. Her head turned to the other end of the room - a desk, bookshelf full of books, a laptop underneath it, but it lacked the creative sense.

It was supposed to be Gold's desk space. A small table cabinet filled with acrylic pens, a small bookshelf filled with sketchpads, old, new, and unopened, still wrapped in plastic. That was the creative sense the space lacked. "Filled with books.", she muttered, approaching the desk. With one hand, she placed her palm on the desk and leaned her weight on it, the other lifts up to the bookshelf to trace the book spines, reading the titles printed, or engraved on them, tilting her head a bit to read the spin better, "Language, history..", her eyes squints on one of the spines, "architecture?", she raised her brow. "No, Gold wouldn't. The pressure would kill her.", she claims, letting her hand fall off the shelf.

She looks down the laptop. She moves, leaning down to open and turn on the device. Instead of Gold's username greeting her, the login screen greeted her with the username Chrysanthemum.

Her brows furrowed, hands hovering over the keyboard, twitching and hesitating to type. Throwing caution in the air, she puts in a password. hva_skal. Password accepted.

"Well, shit.", she breathes out, taking a step back. "That answers it. This.. I'm.", she exhales, looking around. It was all coming together in her head. This is her room. A small floor space with games. Another smaller space for her 'research', dates with a dark blue sharpie written on the calendar hanging behind her door. She looks at the date encircled, 'August 25, rent due!!', then she looks at the taskbar of her laptop, 25th of August.

She groaned, holding her head in her hand, closing her eyes, "Too much information. Go slower.", she muttered, approaching the bed to sit down.

The lady pulls her legs in to sit in a lotus position, takes a deep breathe in and then closed her eyes. "Alright.", she mutters under her breath, relaxing herself, finding a sense of tranquility. "What was my life here? Who am I?", she asks to the world.

Unveil who was thee, lead thou to the past untold.

Open thee eyes of thy Heavens, seek thy vision.

Bring me where it all begins.

When she opened her eyes, she was no longer in the room, rather she was in a white space with nothing but water as far as her eyes can see. Voices, and white silhouettes that appear and disappear, her own form is pure white, floating just inches from the Sea of Memories.

"This is… this world's history.", she deduced. "From creation to the present.", she muttered, analyzing the sea of memories, her hands hovering just above the sea. "We just need to go over a hundred centuries back.", she deduced, moving her hands to the left, swiping forward time. The hushed voices now just blurs past her as she moves forward in time.

"Here.", her hand halts, the blurred voices become understandable again. The sounds of crafting swords, merchants hustling, the crowd moving, the buyers paying, the jingles of gold. The Golden Era of Unity. The simulated memories of the past begins to form and change. Three silhouettes stand before her. A human, a floating human, and a taller form with horns, a monster.

"Long ago, Mages, Humans, and Monsters come together in a perfect unity, creating a perfect synergy between the three societies. The monsters who taught humans about souls and magic, which then gave birth to the society of mages, who later have their own sub-section of societies that are split based on the humans capacity to use magic, and their soul trait.

Determination and Bravery, led by the Grand Mages Nichauncey, the "Sun Incarnate" and Oswaldo "The Brave Fortress", led THEIR sub-section that taught THEIR Mages how to wield the power of Fire. Those with great passion in their souls burned the brightest, and thus creating the Mages of the Pyro Element.

Patience, led by the Grand Mage Kailani, "The Heart of the Sea." THEIR people live in a small archipelago surrounded by water. Those with great Patience that find their career and calling are taught the ways of the water and thus forms the Mages of the Hydro Element.

Integrity, led by the Grand Mage Ivory, "First Flutter of Snow." Those with great Integrity led difficulty with grasping their lives, for they struggled with Conflicting Identities, their choice in life conflicts with their history, as such those with Integrity are taught balance, and the power of Ice, thus formed the Mages of the Cryo Element.

Kindness, led by two Grand Mages, Soma, "The Wind of Songs", and Ivory, "The Wisdom of Flowers." Twins. One is as free as the wind, and carries the tales of the land with THEM, known to bring various string instruments to share the tales and spin them into songs. Soma leads over the power of wind, and THEIR subjects are the lost who have lost something important, and thus turn to the wind for answers, these are the Mages of the Anemo Element.

The other is Grand Mage Iris, the "Wisdom of Flowers", a mystery, rarely seen outside of THEIR library, or the Akademiya where all three kinds study. THEY are the most knowledgeable amongst all of Grand Mages, as such, THEY impart knowledge amongst the people, and that knowledge have become split into six — Biology, Technology, Elementalism, Causation, Linguistics, and Astrology. Those with Kindness that brims with great ambition are then taught the way of nature, thus formed the Mages of the Dendro Element.

Perseverance, led by the Grand Mage Tristan of the Storm, "The Lone Knight.", It was said that before THEY learnt magic, THEY were an aristocrat meant to be duke, however chose to become a knight finding purpose, despite the pleas of THEIR clan. Those with the heart of Perseverance are those who carve a life of their own, going against the path created for them, this characteristic is what forms the Mages of the Electro Element.

Lastly, Justice, led by a Grand Mage whose name is not recorded. THEY go by many names, from stones to jewels. "The Sovereign of Stone" is what the books of yore will call THEM, but to the people of this era, they called THEM the Judge of Humans and Mages. THEY are the Rule makers, and one that makes sure order is in place and peace is kept. THEY punish those who do great wrong, and bring Justice to the accused and the innocents. Those whose heart brims with Justice have their own set of rules, and thus they are welcomed to learn the power of stone and jewels, therein formed the Mage of the Geo Element.

These seven elements created the round table of Grand Mages, all connecting and conversing about the events that occurs amongst THEIR pupils and peers.

The Golden Era lasted for centuries, Monsters, Humans and Mages lived in peace and prosperity. One day, Ivory of Integrity announced of THEIR engagement to the Human Monarch. It was not new for mages to wed humans, but it was new for a Grand Mages to be wedded to a Human Monarch. This new achievement was something to be celebrated between the Grand Mages and Human Royalty, and marriage that soon came after was a glorious one. Celebrated by the whole country, Monster, Mages, and Humans alike were there to celebrate their union.

The union of the Mage and the King was one filled with love. A perfect happy-ever-after."

She stops her narration as she stared at the silhouette of the then living Ivory and the Human King. A disturbed look in her face.

"Supposedly.", she claimed, disdain in her tone and expression upon knowing what comes next. "The king, a heart brimming with Determination, wished to be a Mage under and learn the ways of the flame. He wished to be like his lover. But his determination wasn't enough to make him a mage. He failed his tutelage, and thus never became a mage. He was envious of his lover, who was not only a Mage, but a Grand Mage, the highest order. He wished to have that power to rule over part of the Mage's Society. So, if he cannot have magic, then maybe his heir could. His lover gave birth to an heir, a soul brimming with Determination, strong enough to bravely hold the flames of Magic and be one with it.

He thought he would be satisfied from seeing what his son could achieve that he, the king, admittedly couldn't. No, it made him more envious. He wants that power. Yet he can't, his beloved takes his son away to be taught magic by Grand Mages Oswaldo and Nichauncey. That gnawing in his stomach worsened, the greed corrupts the soul, and so he sought power in other ways. In the deepest parts of the Akademiya Library, only meant for those with High Authority, he gets his hands into Magical Knowledge of the past, one that was banished long ago. With every read, his soul corrupts further, until he was a shell of his former self that gave way for a greedier, corruptive king. He is no longer satisfied with wielding power - no, he wants to be the only one wielding power. Ivory no longer knew him, and THEY feared for the safety of THEIR son. So Ivory sends THEIR son in the safe hands of the Grand Mages and returned to the castle alone. What THEY didn't expect was for THEIR lover to hold THEM hostage, and waged a war between Monsters, Humans and Mages.

The Corrupted King honors the Mages, and welcomes THEM to join him in this war. A ploy in his end, which failed when all Mages collectively refused to. The king was left with no choice and turned back to the Book of Magical Knowledge. He gift his men power through the book, which were then tasked with attacking monsters and mages combined. Both Mages and Monsters fought off the knights as best as they could, but at the cost of losing people. Those that were slain by the Corrupted Knights had their soul - therefore their magic taken. Monsters offer nothing compared to Mages, but the Corrupted king still wants to be the superior one, and the Monsters would likely rebel at the fall of the Mages. So, with the collective magic from seven souls, his knights cornered the Monsters - or what was the rest of them - to a mountain, and sealed them in it. With Monsters sealed, so was a massive percentage of magic, weakening and affecting Mages the most. An outcome the King did not expect, but took advantage of. With their magic weakened, the mages were killed or escaped the war. Those unlucky were slowly corrupted by the Forbidden Magic within the book, and those that escaped found other ways to carry on their will.

Nichauncey and Oswaldo fell in battle, Tristan fell as the last knight, who had done THEIR best to protect the remaining mages as they escaped. Soma was inevitably killed after THEIR voice box was ripped out of THEIR throat, Iris transferred THEIR consciousness in a puppet, leaving THEIR human vessel before the corruption could kill THEM. Kailani escaped to the depths of the ocean with the last of THEIR subjects and pupils. The Sovereign of Stone held the final stand after Tristan died, along with THEIR subjects. THEY too fell in a bloody and brutal defeat. Ivory? With great anger, THEY escaped captivity, and killed the Corrupted King and cursed his bloodline in his final moments, inevitably cursing THEIR son in the process. THEY soon ended THEIR life before the corrupting could take THEM."

She sighed. Gold eyes stared at the imitation of the events before her. The Monarch of Ice, whom ended THEIR life by piercing THEIR heart with ice. THEY lover was hunched on the throne made of Abyssal material and surrounded by black spikes, dead as well. Ice pure white, slowly turned red as blood spreads.

"A brutal ending.", she muttered. "Nobody won. An empty bliss beyond this brutal defeat."

Her hands swiped to the left again, fast forwarding through time. "The Sovereign of Stone had no descendants in this world. THEIR subjects and pupils died with THEM. The last record of a pure Justice soul is..", she watched as a human child holding a toy guy was killed by the Monster King. "This kid. The fifth Human underground, captured by the Royal Guard, and had his soul brutally taken from him. Fodder to the Barrier. Even then, the kid was too young to learn magic. Gold should be born five years after this one.", her hands stopped and watched the Monsters rise from Mount Ebott in the Year 20XX.

"Modern Day. Frisk is still the human with a Determined soul, the one who freed Monsterkind. A rare case, since they didn't learn the ways of the sun. Ten years ago. At this decade, Gold should be.", she looked further and gasped, watching as the crash happened from the sidelines. People screamed, ambulance was called, the roads were closed and it became a crime scene. "Come on, Gold.", she muttered, "You're stronger than this, you can climb out of the car.", the lady urged, biting her lip in anticipation.

..

.

.

But nothing happened. The ambulance arrived and took the three humans out of the car, each were as bloody as the next.

Nobody survived.

"In this timeline, in this world. Gold died with her loving parents.", she realized in horror, swallowing the pit in her stomach. "And I just happen to be in her place. Everything is happening again.", She says, squeezing her eyes shut. "Bring me back!"

The lady opens her eyes again, this time she was back in her room. Not Gold'sHer's.

Before she could think further, her head turns towards her bedroom door as she hears someone knocking on the front door of the home.

Notes:

And that is all for Chapter 0. This is just a snippet of what I have cooking for this AU, which should help me world build this other version. This is also part of the 2024 Rewrite of Still as Stone, and until I can at least write 10 chapters of the new SOS, I'll be posting NII.

I didn't include the Genshin Impact Tag because I also drew some inspiration from Honkai Impact, and Star Rail, which those who play enough Simulated Universe will get what I mean.

Until then! - BINAR_ES (ars.codex)
