'Starting off in Worm may not have been my best idea! Especially here!'
Holding onto my ears as explosions ring out around me, Oni Lee drops grenade after grenade as he teleports throughout the street, attacking Empire 88 member's. Seeing Hookwolf, in full metal blender, lunge himself at the Asian suicide bomber, only to go through the man as he teleports behind unpowered E88 members killing and injuring the group.
'Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Out of everywhere, why the hell did I get dropped here?! Worst day ever? Man, fuck that!'
Raging internally, I look around for an escape, pissed at myself for picking such a choice for more points. Moving from behind the car I was hidden behind, I make my way towards an alleyway, trying my best to stay out of sight of the gangsters fighting. Yet, an almost 7 foot tall African American man, built like All Might, makes that hard. Something I was quick to find out as rocks were hurled at me from above, one striking me in the back and sending me to the ground just as I made it into the alleyway.
"Fuck me!"
"Not in your life, coon."
I blink while pushing up from the filthy ground, that racial slur coming from above me. Looking towards the sky and pinpointing the feminine figure wasn't hard as she hovered above me on top of a pile of rubble. It's Rune, a teenage Empire Cape, black and red robes flowing with the wind, arms crossed under her perky tits that make them more pronounced. Her hips are slender and straight, curved like an inverted triangle. Unable to see much of her face or hair, but he knows she's a blonde with a pretty face. I can see her thin lips curled into a frown while she glares down at me like my very existence was a crime.
"Wait, wait, wait. Can't we talk this out? Aren't you supposed to be helping your friend there?"
I try to divert her attention towards the fight behind them. The sound of Hookwolf cursing and roars could be heard out on the street as well as gunfire and another explosion.
"He's fine. That chink won't do much to hurt him. Besides, I can't do much against that teleporting bastard anyways."
I can see her frown deepen as she speaks, a few large rocks rising that she doesn't hesitate to sling at me. Luckily, for a guy my size, I was able to dodge them by hopping to the side. The loud thuds that followed shows she was either going for the kill or aiming to maim, either way it was enough to make me gulp in terror. Feeling my heartbeat quicken, I hurriedly started to run down the alleyway, heading in deeper with 'Sabrina the Teenage Nazi' behind me hurdling rocks at me.
"Just my fucking luck!"
Running away from a teenage girl hurts my ego quite a bit, but surviving makes that easy to ignore. Especially as a rock sails past my head, inches away from impacting the back of my skull and dealing some real damage to me. I'm happy to have picked the Perfected Super Soldier serum or this chase would have ended long ago. Besides the serum, I haven't triggered with power yet. Leaving me unable to retaliate as she remains out of my range. The Teenage shaker isn't giving up her pursuit, even as the sound of battle slowly leaves their ears. I'm not sure if this is E88 territory or The ABB's, but there's certainly a deep alleyway. Though the wall blocking off the exit brings me to a stop.
'Shit! This isn't good at all!'
"Well looks like you finally stopped running. What's wrong, monkey? Can't climb like the rest of your kind?"
I turn to throw a glare at the racist bitch, only for a rock to hit me in the stomach the moment I turn around. It's the size of a basketball, even with the serum I was pushed back into the wall, instinctively holding my stomach where there's a slight pain. As I turn back towards Rune, a metal pipe slams into the wall beside my torso, half of the pipe sticking out of the walls. I gulp.
'That could have been me.'
Unlike most people, I didn't get here through death. A simple day off work where I decided to give my hand at filling out a Worm CYOA and getting dropped into a battlefield. So, the terror I felt was something I've only experienced twice.
Once as a child, playing behind my house on the south side of Chicago with my younger brother, a group of men stormed and started shooting. I've never ran so fast in my life as I heard the gunshots go off one after another. The second time was on a trip to Six Flags for my Senior trip. I had gotten on a ride similar to the Ferris Wheel, yet much faster. The terror I felt as the wheel started turning vertical nearly made me shit myself, especially as I leaned forward thanks to the seatbelt being a little too loose.
"Jeez, this isn't as much fun as I expected, but that look on your face is amusing."
As the bitch laughs at my horror, I feel something in me snap. My vision is filled with exploding planets, giant whale like creatures that soar throughout space and a vibrant ocean of colors. Yet just as I saw it, I suddenly forgot it all. Shaking my head, I try to clear my vision and see Rune there staring at me. She looks right and left, almost as if she's trying to figure something out before she opens her mouth. Expecting teenage angst or slurs, I'm mighty surprised as she starts to talk.
"Why was I trying to attack you? You seem like a nice guy, pretty fast as well."
'What?'
I blink, mind registering her words while she looks over me. Suddenly, I remembered what power's I had picked. Nice Guy. A former Slaughterhouse 9 cape. Nice Guy's power made it so people are incapable of perceiving him as a threat. Even if he commits violent acts, those observing him see him as a harmless bystander. People seeing him for the first time don't immediately identify him as a threat. Even people fully aware of him and actively on guard for his appearance would not be able to recognize him as a threat.
A smirk appears on my face as I stare at the cape teenager. From what I remember, his power is more effective if he has line of sight with his victims. While not quite sure of the current range of my power's, the fact I had picked Broken Limiter means I don't have that small weakness of the original Nice Guy or at least his clones. Not able to test the full scale of my new Master/Stranger abilities, I decide to see what I can do for now.
"Thanks Rune. You mind coming closer so I can get a good look at you?"
As the Nazi Teenager starts to comply, I couldn't help but to chuckle at the broken power currently in my hands.
