Chapter Text
Unstoppable force meets immovable object. At first sight it seems obvious, but Jinx has long since lost sight of who is supposed to be what in that picture.
It begins with a daze of increasingly feverish kisses; Bodies, violently crashing into each other. The solemn vow that there are no feelings involved over a drink too many. - Old wounds. Bad decisions.
Lux’s lungs empty with short, frenzied bursts, erratic, barely muffled anymore, sounds filling the silence of the room with every thrust.
Since they first met Jinx couldn't help but wonder how someone like Lux ended up with someone like her. Tall, pretty blonde, with beautiful blue eyes and a kindness and warmth like the sun on a late summer morning in Piltover. But tonight the pretty girl is hers again, all bend over a pillow, body half hanging over the edge of her bed.
“ Shhhhh .” Jinx implores, with a mirthful grin on her face - there is a real danger in getting caught - only for the the shortest of moments affording them a reprieve by intently pressing her lips onto the tall blonde as she pulls her up towards herself by her hair, catching them in another open-mouthed kiss before earning her a heavy sigh in between her quiet moans as she quasi throws the blonde back onto mattress and slows down just for a moment, her movements becoming more deliberate, as the full length of the toy overcomes the last bit of resistance, accompanied by an almost pained gasp and a long moan and Lux bites down on her own arm.
Another long, too loud moan when the edges of her colorful nails dig into the blonde’s ass and she speeds up again. Jinx can feel Lux’s legs struggle to stay put behind her, feet involuntarily kicking into the air with every thrust.
“Please… Jinx.” The blonde whines as Jinx has settled into the new rhythm, throwing all her strength against her, as the other woman’s body sprawls uncontrollably before her, only held in place by Jinx’s weight on her thighs and ass.
“I am…” Lux moans again, but is suddenly and very abruptly torn from her ecstasy by the blue haired woman falling still before jolting up, inadvertently ruining her finish.
“Did you hear that?” Jinx asked quietly, looking around the vague darkness beyond the colorful mood lighting all around the bed.
“What?” Lux turns back at her half confused, half incredulous, but twists her body as much as possible to get a look at the door. The second time she hears it too. A knock.
“Oh, shoot.” Lux curses, but quickly covers her mouth with her hand and immediately rolls to the edge on her side of the bed, already fishing for her panties on the ground, hasn’t even got time to mourn the orgasm she has just been robbed of. Too much is at stake.
“Gimme a minute to put on some pants!” Jinx in turn calls out, as she stumbles towards the door while doing her best to get rid of the harness without tumbling to the ground, rather thankful she has kept her boy shorts on. A second later Lux overtakes her on her way to the door, the blonde’s face still filled with an intense flush spanning from the tip of her ears almost all the way down her chest, as she hastily steps onto a pair of Jinx’s pajama shorts she found on the ground, better safe than sorry, and straightens out her black tank top he is still wearing to better cover herself.
Like second nature the tall blonde catches the harness and its incriminating attachment Jinx throws her way without looking and stows it into the drawer next to the door as the blue haired woman drops her sleeping shirt over her porcelain skin and threads her hair through before giving Lux one last look and opens the door, with a well rehearsed mix of innocent sleepiness.
“What ya want, kid?” She greets their guest, her voice perfectly dropping into that rare, honest kindness that twists Lux’s heart. There must be a reply, because Jinx is silent for a moment, but Lux can’t see anything from her hiding spot behind the door, so she has to rely on the other woman narrating Isha’s words.
“A nightmare? Haven’t had one of those in a long time.” Jinx says warmly.
“Ya want me to tell you a story?”
“No. Uhm . That’s…”
“Whad’ya mean, I’m not alone. Of course I am alone.”
“Come take a look inside.”
The door opens fully, well as full as possible, considering Lux’s body is blocking its path, and the blonde can see Jinx’s arm make a presenting gesture. “See. Nobody here. Just plain old mom.”
There is another long moment of silence. First, the colorfully decorated body of a white stuffed bunny being dragged across the floor appears, followed by the familiar brunette in an equally ornate shark onesie. Lux’s heart immediately drops and she has to use her hands to cover her mouth to muffle the gasp.
Suddenly it hits her. Isha has to turn around to sign her answer at Jinx; Eventually will have to turn to leave the room. If she takes another step forward… It doesn’t come to that. A long, agonizing moment of literal, and figurative silence later, Isha spins around in her spot and immediately fixes Lux with her gold eyes as if she knew she was standing there all along.
There are many words the tall blonde would have wanted to say at that moment. She has spent countless hours thinking about it, even rehearsing them. Instead she freezes, not daring to break the girl’s gaze, as the not quite blue haired, not quite brunette girl fixes her with an intense look.
She doesn’t have to be able to see Jinx to know she feels the same.
Lux isn’t quite sure what happens next. Somewhere between awkward silence and a small tear rolling down her own face as she hesitantly raises her hand to wave at the girl, Isha starts crying; Loud whines, like words hurled accusatory at both of them, as she, unable to process her own feelings, turns towards her mother again and begins to hit Jinx’s legs.
“I am sorry…” Jinx tries, her voice more raspy than ever, trying to gently ‘restrain’ the girl enough so she can’t hurt herself, to give her a chance to calm down. “I’m sorry.” She adds now through her very own tears. “She is not…” - staying . Her words fall short of showing her actual hand. They had agreed beforehand, that it would probably be best, to try and not reveal their entanglement to Isha. And Jinx had agreed, wilfully said yes, even though she knew it would break her heart in the end. It takes the girl a painfully long moment to calm down enough to remember they can’t understand her.
Jinx curses, blames herself for her daughter’s anguish. She knew it was selfish the moment she returned Lux’s smile instead of pushing her away. That one thing she allowed herself to be selfish in. Injudicious. Cruel.
The one thing she can’t simply fix.
“ You left me. ” Isha turns towards the tall blonde, her hands shaking with anger as she signs the words, a disappointed, accusatory look on her face.
Lux’s first impulse is to disagree, to tell her she didn’t mean to. That adults are complicated and relationships change, but none of her words seem adequate, able to convey her actual feelings at this moment. So she just stands there, petrified at the girl’s pain, her lips quivering.
They only stand there for what feels like an eternity, Lux trying to contain herself, trying not to look at Jinx. Isha said ‘me’ , but she might as well have said ‘us’ , and they both know it.
Lux’s emotions are about the spiral, when the girl suddenly surges forward, and despite the anger in her eyes throws her arms around the blonde’s legs, holding onto her with all her strength as Lux instinctively begins to gently stroke her hair.
“Oh, Baby…” she says, suppressing her own muffled sob. The women exchange a short look, Jinx almost glaring at her although her features are filled with grief too, and she hunkers down next to Isha, with all the warmth seemingly only the three of them are aware, placing her hands on Isha’s shoulders, until she eventually lets go of Lux. The shorter woman shoots the blonde a questioning glance the other woman answers with a small nod and a wry smile.
Lux wakes to the even rhythm of Isha’s breathing against her neck. The girl still has her arms thrown around her body like they fell asleep, completely nestled against her side. It takes Lux a moment to recognize the lack of warmth against the spot where Jinx had been holding onto her, and there is a sudden search of panic, prompting her to quickly turn her head towards the far edge of the bed as her eyes spring open. Her heart falls into a hasty stride, but is quickly calmed by the side of the pale woman hunkered at her desk across the room, seemingly absentmindedly tinkering with some sort of mechanism. Lux can’t help but smile at the way Jinx occupies the expensive office chair she has inherited from her dad in the most unnatural way possible, both legs drawn up and presumably uncomfortably bending her body past her own knee.
“Hey…” Lux whispers softly, hoping she can get the other woman’s attention without waking the girl.
“Morning.” Jinx replies but doesn’t turn around right away, her voice filled with a vague indifference, cold, that immediately makes Lux’s heart hurt again. No ‘Sunshine’. No ‘Blondie’. No quip about her being too warm to bear staying in bed. Lux contemplates approaching the subject regardless, but doesn’t get a say in the matter, as Isha begins to stir before she can make up her mind.
“Good morning, Isha.” Lux says warmly, familiarly petting the girl’s head as she begins to adjust herself, but doesn’t let go of the tall blonde. “Did you sleep well?”
The girl hesitates for a moment but then lifts herself up a little so they can make better eye contact and nods.
“Good.” Lux says and her feelings get the better of her again, and she presses a gentle kiss to the top of the girl’s head. The gesture is immediately met with an again tightening grip around her body.
“Isha, can you go look if Sevika is up already? I need to talk to your mom for a moment.” Lux plucks up courage. The short brunette shoots her a questioning, visibly worried look. “I won’t leave. Scout’s honor.” she adds, holding the girl’s gaze for emphasis. The moment is broken when a large-ish piece of metal hits the ground with a loud clang followed by an audibly damaged rattle.
“Please.” Lux turns towards the girl again once the scare is over. Isha gives her a defiant look at first, looking over where her mother sits frozen since the gearbox fell, but then untangles herself from the blonde and quickly scurries away.
“Jinx. Talk to me…” she implores gingerly, now sitting up in bed, her posture deflated at Jinx’s spurning demeanor.
“You won’t leave…” Jinx repeats after her with a noticeable measure of anger in her voice and finally spins around, regarding the other woman with a challenging, hostile look.
“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about…” Lux’s eyes drop to her own knees for a moment. “I guess we got a little carried away last night…” She concedes sheepishly at the way Jinx’s expression doesn’t botch the least bit.
“I got a job offer in Piltover.” she quasi blurts. “And uhm… I never expected us to pick up where we left off… but I took it. That’s why I called you yesterday… It wasn’t a booty call. I mean… It would appear it was… but I didn’t mean for it to be…” she begins to ramble when Jinx’s pink eyes widen with surprise, incredulity.
“So like, that complicates things a little. Or maybe it doesn’t… And I understand if this isn’t working for you anymore…” she goes on, trying to fill the rapidly forming silence.
“I just wanted to tell you.” She adds.
“How long?” Jinx replies defiantly, almost accusatory.
“How long, what?” Lux knits her eyebrow together. Maybe she is being a little deliberately obtuse.
“How long till you leave again? How long till I have to tell her you are gone again?” Jinx explains bitterly.
“I won’t.” Lux replies barely audibly, but finally crawls out of bed, slowly making her way over towards the desk and picks up the fallen gearbox.
“I can’t change the past.” she says seriously. “I am sorry I hurt you…”
“I don’t care you hurt me .” Jinx replies, the sentiment like a gut punch to the blonde.
“But I am apologizing to you.” Lux protests nonetheless. “I care I hurt you. And I am sorry, I didn’t tell you right away.”
“That was kinda my fault.” Jinx supplies with a faint hint of mirth in her voice, chuckles a little to herself, but now in turn averts her eyes, and snatches the piece of machinery from Lux’s hands and begins to almost absentmindedly fiddle with it.
“I guess people are just leaving me…” She argues after a short moment. “I just never thought it would be you.” she admits quietly.
A long moment goes by in deafening silence.
“I am going to take Ish foam blasting this afternoon. Do you want to come?”
“Yes!” Lux replies immediately, catches herself halfway through the syllable, trying to not come off as too relieved, as a bright smile appears on her face nonetheless.
“You still have to apologize to Ish. I mean, properly. You can’t just bribe her with cuddles.” Jinx adds, in an uncharacteristically serious, grown up tone. “I don’t want her to go through the same as me.”
The words almost make Lux sob again at the realization, and more importantly, the implication.
“I am hungry.” Jinx all of the sudden says and gets up. Lux knows her well enough to know the whole talk made her incredibly uncomfortable, even though she tries to cover it. “I guess you are getting breakfast this time, Blondie.” She adds with a cheerful smile.
Jinx is handing in their foam dart weapons. There is a little bit of queue, so this moment is as good as any.
“Hey, Isha.” Lux says solemnly, hunkers down to meet the girl on her own level. The girl narrows her eyes at her suspiciously. “I can’t promise you, your mom and I are going to be like we were before.” the blonde informs her, immediately purses her lips, but tries for a smile nonetheless. “I hope you understand.”
Isha looks at her for a moment, visibly contemplating, then signs “I understand.”
“But I want you to know that no matter what happens between your mom and me, I am not going to leave you again. And I am sorry you got so little say in what happened. I am sorry I left you.” She establishes seriously, holding the girl’s gaze through all of it. “Please forgive me.”
“I missed you.” Isha signs, her lips forming a thin line, but not budging.
“I missed you too.” Lux replies, pulling the girl in a one armed hug. “I missed you so much.”
“We are cool.” The girl adds with another series of gestures once the blonde lets go of her, a happy smile on her face.
“I think she loves you.” she adds entirely too nonchalantly after a long moment.
“One can hope.” Lux smiles at Isha brightly nonetheless. “Let's go get some food, before your mom gets cranky.”
