The Sound of a Loving Home

Summary:

Just a sweet one-shot, with my favourite pairing, and oh I gave them a kid.
Touya comes home to a chaotic house after a long day at work over the Christmas holidays, and helps the family wind down for the night.

Notes:

This is my first short story with this pairing (and first ever) and I am hoping to make it into a collection of one-shots with these two: I actively pretend nothing bad happens to anyone, and Touya gets the redemption he deserved. Everyone gets a happy ending and loving family. In my mind Touya is trans-male and the kid is biologically Touya’s and Kegio’s although this is not specifically mentioned, it will appear in other works I plan to write. I will always bash Endeavour in my fics so if you don't like that don't read, and Aizawa Shouta is the adoptive father we all need.
This is basically an alternate timeline set in the same universe.

Work Text:

Quick little pitter pattering feet echoed down the hallway. Larger footsteps chase close behind, mixed with heavy breathing.

“Damn, how can a 6-year be so fast”, Keigo stopped to catch his breath in the hallway, heaving on each word. His kid raced through the entryway of the Takami household at a break-neck speed, narrowly avoiding colliding with the door as it opened to Touya stepping into the chaotic energy that had exploded within the house throughout the day. The frown Touya wore looked like it was permanently stuck to his face, and the purple colouring under his eyes were obvious indicators of the late nights spent with a pent up kid that hasn't been outside in a few days. Closing the door behind him Touya leaps to the side as their kid looped back around with a maniacal laugh that only a 6 year old avoiding bedtime could achieve. Keigo let him run past his hunched form not even bothering to catch him anymore. He kicked up a few fallen feathers as he walked up to his husband.

“Bad day, huh” sliding his arms around Touya from behind as his partner toed his shoes off.

The white haired man released a weary breath, “Yeah, the shop just gets so busy around this time of the year, it's insane”, Touya rubbed at his eyes. The shorter spun around in Keigo's arms to face him, the frown still stuck on his face. When suddenly the blonde haired male had a brilliant idea of how to get rid of that frown. Little footsteps started to draw closer, making what was probably the kid’s 30th lap of the house in the past 2 hours. Keigo couldn't hide his mischievous grin and suddenly Touya was wiggling in his hold pulling at his arms frantically, “No, don’t do it, I'm not in the mood, don’t you dare!”.

Back in their early dating stage Kegio once tried to tickle Touya, and opted never to do so again after the broken nose he got when he was accidentally kicked square in the face.

“Gotcha!” In one swift motion, Kegio let go of Touya, picked up their kid as he was racing by and started tickling him instead. Touya always says that Calix has his father’s smile. Having double the smile and laughter power would be the perfect cure, as the two tumbled to the floor in a flurry of feathers. Touya tried to fight it but ultimately couldn't help the laughter that bubbled out of his chest and the corners of his mouth turned up reluctantly.

“Alright, alright you win” Touya relented, smiling as he crouched down to save their child from his father’s tortuous fingers. Calix was now shrieking from the ticklish prodding at his small sides.

Throwing his hands up and cheering, “Victory is mine!” Keigo had succeeded at both catching Calix and making Touya smile. Touya stood up with their kid in his arms, balancing him on his hip as he brushed the messy white locks from Calix’s face so the little menace could catch his breath.

After a few minutes of laboured breathing, the laughter died down but the smiles did not. Looking up at his husband and son from his lounged position on the floor he felt grateful for everything that had got them to this point. Touya had gone through extensive surgery before they even started talking about having a family. Their priority being to get Touya healthy again, and to a point where he wouldn't need pain medication every 8 hrs. His skin was still pale, but that was because Keigo believed the white haired man was allergic to the sun. There were light scarring lines from where the doctors had attached skin grafts, and they were relatively unnoticable, besides the ones on his face which were a little starker. But he was healthy and happy, and Kegio would make sure he stayed that way.

Their son was a decision they had both wanted and they knew they’d only ever have one kid. Calix looked like the perfect combination of the two of them. His hair was as white as Touya’s but had a slight curl like Keigo’s. He had Keigo’s markings, two little arrows in the corners of his eyes facing out, and Touya’s pale skin. His quirk had appeared when he was 5 years old, in the form of small (for now) light blue wings and an ice quirk. Calix was small for his age, but the doctors reassured them that it was okay, and might be a result of his quirk. His bones were lighter like Keigo’s, giving a strong indication that he was made for flight. Keigo has been slowly teaching him different wing techniques and motions in the house. Touya may or may not know this, he did make Calix promise not to tell his dad. But the kid did have Keigo’s  inability to keep his mouth shut. He had also developed a second ice quirk from Touya’s side of the family, but also the gene of having a body not meant for this quirk. During a few tests of his quirk, his body wasn’t able to regulate his body temperature very well, which resulted in a few blue fingers and two worried parents.

“Let's wind down now shall we, seems like you both have had an interesting day” Touya said, stroking his hand through his kid's hair. Looking around at the mess that had become their house he shot Keigo a pointed look, who only shrugged sloppily in return. “Come-on time to get up”, Touya kicked his husbands legs out of the way as he started towards the kitchen.

Keigo got up and brushed himself off, “I’m coming, I’m coming,” he rasped, following the shorter man to the kitchen.

Keigo had spared no expense when looking at houses for the two of them while Touya was in recovery. The layout was spacious with a large living and open floor plan. Enough room for them and their kid, plus some. Upstairs was their bedroom, Calix’s room, a modest guest room, and their shared office space. Keigo had some plans in mind for the basement, but besides the laundry room, it was currently the play area for Calix, and Keigo didn’t plan on renovating anytime soon. He sauntered into the kitchen where Touya had placed their son on the counter and had given him a wooden knife to cut up some peppers with. Calix had also apparently developed Touya’s love for cooking; he always wanted to be included in whatever they were doing. Touya didn’t mind a helper because he wanted to make sure that Calix would grow up to be independent and confident. Plus it was a good way to get some quality family time.

“What do you want me to start on?” Keigo asked, leaning against the island counter.

The shorter man tied an apron around his waist as he replied, “Well why don’t you cut up some of those boiled eggs in the fridge, and shred some carrots while you're at it”.

He pulled a large pot out and began filling it with water, “I say we do an easy dinner tonight and just make some ramen, yeah?”

“Yes!” Calix chirped, as he looked up from his horrendously cut pepper to look between them in excitement.

Keigo laughed as ruffled his son's hair on his way to the fridge, “I’m on it!”

….

“If the snow stops tomorrow, I think I’ll take Calix to the park.” Touya mused as he played with his son's curls, reminding Keigo of why they’d been stuck inside for the last few days. It hadn’t stopped snowing since Tuesday, basically guaranteeing a white Christmas, and with Calix’s quirk winter was a little anxiety inducing

Keigo perked up from his slumped spot on the couch, “Really! You got the day off?”

It was the whole reason Touya went into work today in this weather, to take a shift in hopes of getting the next day off. It meant Touya would get to be off for the next 4 days. Keigo had booked the week off to spend with his son and husband for Christmas. The two were finished with their shopping and had planned to join the Aizawa-Yamada household for Christmas dinner.

Shouta Aizawa couldn’t help but be the overprotective dad that he was. When the abusive situations a few of his students had been in were brought to light, he had court dates and adoption papers basically ready overnight. Even though they had graduated from UA, Hitoshi, Katsuki, and Shouto were like older brothers to Calix.

Keigo looked away from the old Christmas movie they had put on to see a sleeping Calix squished between Touya’s side and the couch, his cheek smushed from where he laid against Touya’s chest. After a warm dinner the trio decided to wind down with a movie, where Calix —thankfully— promptly passed out from all the running around he did earlier.

Touya yawned, snuggling closer to the couch, pulling his son tighter in the process. “Yeah, I’m glad my boss didn’t seem to mind.”

“Maybe we could go down to that cafe and get some hot chocolates too?” Keigo shuffled closer to Touya’s relaxed form, pulling his feet into his lap. Touya pressed a kiss to the top of his son’s head.

Touya replied in a soft, lulled voice, “Yeah, sure”.

Letting the conversation quiet again, Keigo noticed his husband falling asleep. Only the noise of TV and soft breathing filled the air. The two’s white hair became a kaleidoscope of colour as it reflected the lights from the Christmas tree in the corner of the living room. Their lax faces occasionally lit up from the flashes of bright scenes on the screen. Keigo leaned down to grab the blanket that had fallen off during the beginning of the movie and laid it back over the three of them. He grabbed the remote next to him, leaning back into the couch and turned the volume down on the movie to let the pair sleep. He would have to wake them up to shuffle them both to bed sooner rather than later, lest Touya pester him about a stiff neck in the morning. But for now, he would finish the film and just bask in the peacefulness of it all, everything he ever wanted was in this room with him.

I want to give a shout out to my sister who edited this story for me and made it 100x better for everyone! The motivation to finally polish the collection of short stories I have sitting in drafts is thanks to her <3.
