Chapter Text
They have been out here for two hours when Zim reaches his peek.
"THE DIB! ZIM IS COLD NOW! YOU PROMISED WAFFLES!"
He can heard Dib rolling his eyes and his own pink ones narrow in annoyance. He stomps down the hill and shoves Dib and gets a shove back.
"Ten more minutes, Zim!" His...enemy? Friend? He's not sure what to make of what he and Dib are anymore, just that Dib is just as mouthy as he was when they were kids.
"ZIM IS NOT STAYING FOR TEN MINUTES!" He stamps a foot into the snow. He's going to start throwing hands, but Dib finally gives up and packs up his telescope. "Yes! Victory for Irk!" He cheers.
"Shut up, this is not "victory for Irk!" Dib snaps, irritated. "I've been watching those swirls in the sky for weeks and you're making me go when I have a breakthrough!'
"Breakthrough! Ha, you have been watching the sky for weeks and nothing has been happening!" Zim crows and Dib's eyes narrow. He's worried the human is going to throw a punch, but then the sky lights up in ways he's never seen before and with colors so bright, they burn his eyes. He thinks he sees something falling before everything goes dark.

-im, Zim, Zim?"
He brings a fist up and strikes out, only for someone to take his wrist and hold tight. When his eyes open, Dib is holding his wrist.
"Don't fucking hit me! I was checking on you, you idiot!" The human insists and in makes Zim lower his hands away from Dib.
"Zim is fine!" He's lying through his teeth. His knees are shaking and he can't shake the dread he feels in his chest, and from the looks of things, Dib looks just as shaken. It's a little heartwarming somehow, Zim thinks as he reaches up and fixes Dib's glasses.
That's when he sees the body and he screams.
