Work Text:
The night I met you, you left me with nothing
But a silent current stirring from your eyes.
Those pupils shining in the dark like a wave of tide sweeping me away,
Washing me into a deep, boundless sea of your mind,
Where it was only you and I –
You allowed me into your life.
The night you kissed me, my own eyes began to wet.
Is this love? This must be.
Our bodies drawn together by electrostatic attraction,
Pulling against each other like nothing can stop us, no one within our view.
In the dark, I look up, your eyes gleaming like the lighthouse to my ship –
You welcomed me to shore, to be with you.
The night you hugged me, how should I put it in word?
When nothing, no one has ever treated me with such delicacy.
I savoured the warmth like my life depended on it.
As if my world would be forever frozen without your grip.
I murmured into the crook of your neck,
“I love you, I love you, I love you…”
You smiled and stayed in silence.
The night you stopped thinking about me,
The night you decided to back away.
After all those shadows I spent with you,
After all those sparks you showed me to.
You left in the broad daylight, like the beacon you were to me,
With nothing but a fleeting smile and a darkened glimmer in eyes that once guided me.
You left me in the dark.
The night I lay on what was once our bed,
Sailing alone in a sea now rough without you by my side.
What once was a welcoming land you guided me to,
Has crumbled with your last smile and the void in your eyes.
You left me to drift alone in the endless sea.
The distance between us grew too vast for you to be drawn to me.
I could never fit into your world fully;
Just like how the moon could never embrace the sun,
How the ship could never reach the shore unscathed.
How could I convince my heart to hope again,
When the light of my life has left me —
You left me.
