Daddy doesn't live here anymore

Summary:

Basically is a divorce and reconciliation fic with Mockingbird's bangboo as pov. Probably OOC, this was writen before we even knew their name and about Vivian being a character that existed, so take this as au or bunch of heacanons or whatever idk and idrc I'm just here to write about divorce and (due to popular demand) reconciliation.

Notes:

Thanks to Mel on twitter for letting me use their design for the bangboo. Is super cute and you all should check it out, because like they say "a picture is worth and thousand words".

Waking up…

The world around you came into vision in dark shades and outlines, two pairs of eyes looking at you expectantly in what looked to be a small room.
“Is it awake?” The fairer of the two figures asked, getting closer and poking your screen.
“I think so…” The fluffier of the two figures responded, an inquisitive hand resting under his chin.
“Ehn, nah-nah! Nah-ehn! (Hello, nice to meet you! I'm bangboo!)” you greet your new owners politely as per protocol.
“It is awake!” The fairer figure said, straightening his posture “Lycaon, you actually did it! It's working!”
“I guess...” The other figure, Lycaon, said, leaning closer to your face “Do you understand what we're saying?”
“Nah-nah! (Perfectly!)”
“How many fingers am I holding up?” He said, lifting a clawed hand to your cameras.
“...Nah? (Three?)”
“Hmm...” He straightened his posture and gave you a puzzling look “It seems to be working just fine. What was that limited vision warning about?” Lycaon questioned to himself in a murmur.
“Don't ask me. For once, I know less than you–”
“Shut it!”
“Ah!” the man let out as the thiren punched him in the shoulder “Why do you always have to be such a brute?!”
“Why do you always have to insult my intelligence?”
“I'm just stating facts, I know more than you in a lot of matters...” he insisted, masaging and cracking his shoulder “Like how to control my temper, for example.”
“And how to make everyone lose theirs…” the thiren growled.
“And when I'm casting pearls before swine. Moving on…” The other dismissed their banter before examining you closer “What's with this strange expression. Don't they normally have their eyes wide open? They also look like they're missing the ends… Are you sure you installed the screen correctly?” He questioned, grabbing what looked like a booklet next to a myriad of tools and boxes.
“Want me to turn it off so you can give it go, since I'm so bad at connecting two wires?”
“No way,” he said as he continued to flip through the booklet, sitting on a chair with a leg crossed over the other. “I'm not getting my hand singed and stained on that thing.”
“Yes, god forbid you get your hands dirty…” The thiren pouted, turning his attention on you “I'm Lycaon and this is Hugo.” He said, pointing at himself and then at the man “Can you tell us what happened to you?”
“Ehn-nah? (What happened to me?)” you asked inquisitively.
“Yes, we found you beaten and gutted in an alley near the slums. Do you know who attacked you? Did they have any distinguishable features, maybe an emblem on them?”
You look at the thiren for a few seconds as the situation you find yourself in betrays your initial assumptions.
“Ehn, nah-nah nah…(Sorry, I don’t remember anything.)” You explain.
“You don’t?”
“Ehn… Nah nah, ehn-nah. (No… Logs show that the data in my memory archives was corrupted and unsalvageable, so it was all purged.)” You elaborate.
“Oh…”
“What is it saying? Does it know who attacked it?” The man asked, still flipping through the book.
“Its memory got corrupted. It doesn't remember anything...” The thiren explained.
“Oh… Guess you don't know jack about bangboo repair either then- Ack!” Hugo let out as his seat was kicked from under him and he fell to the floor.
“Anyway, guess this means you don't remember who your owner is either?”
“Nah, nah. (No, sorry.)”
“There’s nothing to apologise for…” The thiren sighed, leaning against the deck you stood on with his arms crossed, “I may be the one to blame for that anyway…” the thiren looked back at you and then at the man, sitting back on the chair.
“So no reward money for returning it either?” The man questioned the thiren.
“I guess…” the thiren sighed.
“I see…” Hugo let out, his eyes fixated on you as if he was deep in thought “Well, guess it wasn't a total waste of time.”
“It wasn’t?”
“Yes!” Hugo got up and approached you with the enthusiasm of a salesman “Reliable and resilient, bangboos are a must have for every household and business! Humanity's loyal companion in the age of hollows!” He quoted, putting a hand on your head “Lycaon, this thing can use carrots to guide people in hollows and is super ether resistant… It can also fit into vents, fight and, with the right upgrades, it might just be able to hack other devices or see through walls… You see where I'm going with this?”
“Hmm…” the thiren looked to be considering Hugo's sales pitch.
“Ehn! N-nah-nah ehn! Nah-nah! Ehn! (Yes! I'm a jack of all trades with endless potential! You name it I do it!)” You said, trying to sound confident despite the sense of dread building in your circuits. Going back out there?! After whatever horrible things may have happened to your previous self?! Hell no!
“...Yes, what it said! Probably…” Hugo continued. “We just need to get it a cool shell to match with us and it's good to go!”
“Hmm…” the thiren looked at you, considering the other's proposal “Sure.” He shrugged, “As for the shell--”
“It’s sealed then!” Hugo picked you up and looked you in the “eyes” “Welcome to the team, Klien!”
“Klien?” Lycaon questioned.
“Yes, it's a fitting name, don't you think? Or do you have any other suggestions?”
“I was thinking of something to do with the moon, because of its eye.” He pointed out.
“Hmm…” the man looked at you “Kleine Mondsicheln!” he announced rather enthusiastically.
“...That's a mouthful. Let’s just go with Klien.”
“Sure… Since your little brain is that incapable of memorising a hand full of silables…” the man said.
“Hugo, put the bangboo down for a second.”
“Huh? Why is there something– Ack!”
