Chapter 1: Welcome to Trancy manor

Chapter Text

"My little butterfly, wake up."

Slowly opening your eyes, you were met with the beautiful eyes of your sister. She was a spitting image of your mother.

You, on the other hand, had more of your father's traits.

Your sister - Hannah - beamed the moment that she saw your (e/c) eyes. Leaning down, she placed a chaste kiss on the top of your forehead, closer to the hair.

Smiling at her loving gesture, you rolled over, turning your body away from your beloved older sister.

It was clear that you had forgotten to close your curtains, as they were drawn wide open, sun lighting up the room. You found yourself repositioning once again and hopped out of the bed. Shivers overcame you as your feet came in contact with the floor.

Hannah noticed your slight shiver. Promptly, she wrapped a blanket around your shoulders. Carefully, Hannah wrapped her arms around you, smiling when you leaned into her touch. She was all you needed. Hannah would make sure of it.

Your lavender haired sister had always been over protective of you. It was helpful that she was a demon and you were a human.

Whenever she was overprotective, you chalked it down to your difference in species. Hannah was a bit of a worry wart. She was always fretting about you. Had you eaten? Were you safe? Did you have a cold? She was just a very worried - but caring - older sister.

You never realised that you were wrong.

Ever so wrong.

See, your sister loved you, but the question is, what type of love is it? The first, most common love, is between family members. An almost protecting love.

The next one is a romantic love, a bond shared between lovers, so deep, that next to nothing can break it.

The third one is an almost crazy, psychopathic love. You would do anything for that person, and make sure that you only kept your eyes on them.

Hannah was a mix of these all. This is the dangerous mix that creates an obsession, a love, so deep, that they won't let anything break it.

You softly called out to your older sister, "Hannah?"

Her reply was instantaneous and soft, "Yes my little butterfly?"

"What are we doing today? You said that I had to be up and ready by the crack of dawn!"

Hannah laughed at how cute you were being, with a little pout on your lips.

With a lingering smile on her face, she answered."Well butterfly, we are going to the Trancy Manor."

The female demon practically spat the name.

Not because of the Trancy child, but because of another certain someone. A certain demon.

A demon named Claude Faustus.

Hannah and Claude had a little bit of a history. It was not a romantic relationship - rather a type where they hated each other. The two were always in competition with each other. For souls, for 'friends', for contracts, and little did they know, another thing.

Or should I say another (h/c) female.

The bitter mood around Hannah faded as she saw you go into your wardrobe, pulling out a dress she had gotten for you.

"I'll run you a bath," Hannah remarked, trying not to sound eager.

Smiling, you answered Hannah, "That is alright. You mustn't work yourself so hard! Though you may be a demon, you still can become run down and tired!"

"I insist!"

Thanking your sister, you hugged her, following the demoness into the bathroom. Hannah bent over, turning on the faucet, testing the temperature every once in a while. Once the tub was full (and may or may not have had ten bottles of bubbles in there) you stripped off your nightgown, sliding into the water. Hannah stood there, making light conversation with you.

It was a normal occurrence, so you didn't mind. The two of you discussed numerous topics.

The upcoming day.

The recent news of Queen Victoria.

Alois Trancy.

Despite the wide variety of topics, there was only one thing that was really running through Hannah's mind: She doesn't realise I can see clearly through the bubbles. How cute.

"Hannah, are you listening?"

"Hm," she mumbled, "Yes my little butterfly. I'm listening. Do continue. What did you think of the Queen's dress?"

With a large smile on your face, you continued talking. Hannah on the other hand, leaned against the counter and continued to gaze upon you and listen.

-💞-

After about twenty minutes of soaking, you politely asked Hannah to step out of the bathroom for a moment so you could dress yourself.

For a fleeting moment, she looked as if she was going to disagree. Regardless, she stepped out of the bathroom to give you some privacy.

"I'll be in the kitchen with Timber, Thomas and Canterbury! Shout if you need my dear!"

You called a quick "thank you" after her.

Standing up from your seated position in the bath, water dripped off of you. With a graceful motion, you stepped over the tiny wall of the bath, onto the mat placed directly in front.

Reaching for a towel (that Hannah had placed conveniently on the nearby counter) you dried off your hair until it was only slightly damp. Sliding the towel around the rest of your body, you deemed yourself dry enough to put on your dress.

It was a beautiful corset, red, with a black belt around the middle. Looking yourself over in the mirror, you noticed how the dress complimented your body perfectly. Since it was your first time wearing it, you admired it in the large looking glass.

Smiling, and reminding yourself to thank Hannah, you started to style your hair, deciding that it would be best to leave it down. The last thing you needed was a headache on such a big day!

Exiting the bathroom, you pulled out a pair of black, slightly heeled, shoes. Making sure you didn't forget about the shoes later, you placed them by your bedside table.

With a quick departure from your room, you headed downstairs to the kitchen. Along the way, you said good morning to each of the triplets. In return they gave you a friendly hello back.

Upon entering the kitchen, you saw Hannah already sitting at the table, breakfast plate resting in your place.

"Thank you Hannah. You did not have to do this for me. Also, thank you for the dress. I love it! The material is so comfortable and isn't chafing!"

Smiling, Hannah rose from her seat to embrace you. Gently, she kissed the crown of your head, sitting back at her seat. Only then did she speak. "I'm glad you like it. I thought the material was soft enough that chafing wouldn't be an issue."

You took a seat at your breakfast. Instantly you began shoving food in your face, not really caring if it looked un-lady like. Hannah always told you to be yourself. That being said, when you were in company, you tended to act more elegantly.

Finishing your meal, you stood up, plates in hand. Taking a couple steps, you placed the dirty dishes in the sink and reached for a scrubbing sponge.

Hannah beat you to it.

"Let me handle this. You have to do your little bit of makeup. Better do it quick though, before I change my mind and throw all of that vile stuff out."

Hugging your sister, you ran upstairs, putting on the slightest bit of makeup.

You were cautious it was only the slightest touch because Hannah vehemently hated you wearing makeup.

"Oh come on (Y/n)," she would say, "You're only hiding your natural beauty with it. But I will say....a little lipstick does look nice...."

Adding the finishing touches to your face, you put the makeup away. Before fully exiting the room, you remembered something. Your shoes! Grabbing them from where they were placed you ran out the door and hoped you were awfully late.

Hannah, Timber, and Canterbury were waiting at the entrance. Thomas had gone to prepare a carriage.

You stayed silent while the three demons chattered among themselves. You and Hannah were most likely the only two people who the triplets were comfortable talking with (other than themselves of course).

For the most part, you were zoned out during the conversation. Still you caught the occasional word. You caught two words multiple times. Well two names actually!

Alois Trancy.

And Claude Faustus.

Your older sister had already talked to you briefly about what the plan was for today while you were bathing.

The triplets and Hannah were planning to work with Claude Faustus - another demon. In turn, that meant they would also be working for Alois Trancy.

For that reason, you had to move into the Trancy manor. You had already decided that you would also help out in taking care of Alois. You loved children!

The first time Hannah spoke about it, she seemed worried. Her worries appeared to be quickly put to rest when she took note of your excitement. You truly did love kids. In that moment of excitement, you rushed to embrace your sister. At that moment, she looked content. That was exactly how you remembered it.

Hannah's recount was slightly different. She still was not at all keen on taking you there due to the demon butler. Hannah knew that Claude was dangerous, but she needed to do this.

Thomas arrived with the carriage - pulling you away from your thoughts. Hannah, taking your hand, boosted you up, allowing you to scramble into the carriage. Nimbly, your sister jumped into the carriage, taking the seat across from you. Timber took a seat next to you.

It was an hour-long ride to Trancy Manor. When you arrived, Hannah was obviously tense. Rubbing her shoulders, you jumped out of the carriage, waiting for your sister to do the same.

Now outside the carriage, you took in the large estate. It was...to put it quite plainly - magnificent!

Spotting the stairs, you made your way towards them - beckoning the others to follow you.

Climbing up a couple of steps, you arrived at a grand door. It was beautiful! It was almost laughable how interested you were in the door. You shook your head at your thoughts and decided to look around some more. Glancing at the top of the door, you noticed a small spider climbing along a spider web.

In its own way, it was beautiful, every thread spun with such careful, thoughtful detail.

One mistake, the web would break.

Carefully, you reached for the knocker grabbing it, only for the door to open! Man! What timing!

With the force of the door opening, you tumbled forward...right into the male who opened the door. Thankfully, he was quick to catch you - keeping the two of you upright.

Looking up at him, you noted that he was quite handsome. He had golden eyes that somehow complimented his raven hair. He wore a lovely suit.

Overall, he was an amazing looking man.

"Th-thank you." Silently, you cursed yourself for stuttering, not noticing the deathly glare Hannah gave to the man.

"No need. That was entirely my fault. My name is Claude, and who might you be, such a lovely lady knocking." As he spoke, he let go of you and politely bowed. You rushed to try and stop him.

"I am (Y/n) Annafellows. I'm no noble. Please don't feel the need to bow."

"Oh, I am but a humble servant. I am to bow in the presence of all lovely people. Charmed to make your acquaintance." Claude offered you his arm, which you accepted politely. A blush tinted your cheeks.

Somewhere in the manor, you could hear someone (who sounded like a young boy) calling for Claude. When the caller finally came into view, you smiled. He was short and had blonde hair. Contrary to Claude, he wore very short shorts, a purple jacket that was long, and boots that were high. The exact opposite.

As soon as he saw you, he approached slowly.

He quietly asked, "Claude, who is she?"

"The three behind me are demons, coming to work at the Trancy Manor. This lovely lady here is (Y/n) Annafellows, the lavender haired lady's sister. The one with the (h/c) hair is a human." There was a snarl in his voice as he managed to spit out the word lady when describing Hannah.

"Oh goody! The more the merrier!" The boy was clearly quite happy with Claude's response.

You had guessed correctly that the boy was Alois Trancy.

With no signs of his earlier shyness, Alois ran up to you and hugged your torso. Smiling, you hugged back.

How you just loved kids!

"Can I show you the garden?" Alois was bouncing up and down, a light in his eyes. Giggling, you nodded your head, allowing him to take you away.

Once you were out of sight and hearing range, Claude turned to face the other three demons with a smirk.

"Now, I believe we have business to discuss. If you will, please follow me into the manor. Oh, and wipe your shoes."
