Chapter Text
What if Ye Xiu went into the Alliance under his real name?
When Ye Xiu goes over to the Happy Internet Café at the start of the series, he clearly has his own ID card, even though he ran away with Ye Qiu's belongings so at some point in time between those events, he managed to get his government identification sorted out.
Whatever he does to get his own ID back, put that timestamp before he joins the professional league.
Of course that does affect later events down the line, but there are reasonable arguments for still ending up where the series starts while also removing what (I think) is one of the most unnecessarily convoluted plot points in a fantastic storyline— which is of course why it's included in a Chinese light novel.
We can reasonably argue that Ye Xiu still does not acquiesce to selling his image for a myriad (hah) of reasons: he's not into publicity, he's only in it for (the) Glory, he doesn't need or want more money, and most importantly and still canonical, he wants to avoid being found by his family.
Honestly if he used Ye Qiu's credentials to originally sign the contract as a pro player, that should've flagged the Ye Corporation anyways because IDs are citizen-specific— a point that is made in canon to justify people not recognizing Ye Xiu as Ye Qiu because of his government ID.
Assuming that reasoning holds water (which, it does) the start of the canon storyline can still continue as is; with Ye Xiu being forced out of Excellent Era and choosing not to fight the contract break because he really doesn't live beyond his means and still maintained the original 700k annual salary that he started with in Season 1.
