Work Text:
Nam-gyu lay, as he did most nights, staring at the ceiling above him. It wasn’t uncommon for the view to change night after night, waking up each morning sore and in a bed he didn’t recognise with people he didn’t remember. If there was one good thing to come from the death games he was participating in it was the consistency and routine they afforded him.
Each day was the same, wake up, piss, eat, beg for another fix before being shuttled to the next area that would become the resting place for so many of them. Maybe the consistency was the worst part, Nam-gyu had gotten used to the spontaneity of his life before, had gotten used to working whatever job he could for whatever drugs he could get his hands on.
It wasn’t like he was complaining about the free drugs he was being provided, whatever it was Thanos kept giving him, it worked. It gave him the buzz he needed, wiped his mind clear but kept him enough of a person that he could actually take part in the games. Nam-gyu wasn’t entirely convinced that they were safe but anything beat losing his nerve and getting shot.
He mindlessly tapped his fingers against the stiff mattress he lay on, the soft thuds sounding so much louder in the silent room. Anytime he stilled his hands an ache would run through his veins, sitting patiently in the tips of his fingers until he started moving again. It was late and logically he knew he needed to sleep but he couldn't get any part of his body to rest, he was unused to taking any type of upper without a downer nearby to help kill the effects later. Maybe it was his own fault for being so willing to take the mystery drugs offered.
The sleeping room was an unpleasant mix of both too warm and too cold. He shivered anytime he went to take off his jacket but started sweating the moment he pulled his blanket back on, the skin on his arms rose as he lay there, body electrified but unable to do anything about it.
He thought maybe a change in air would help, none of them had been outside in days and it wasn’t like he could leave so he opted for the next best thing.
He could have definitely tried to be a lot quieter as he made his way to the door that led to the bathrooms but in all honesty he didn’t really care. The only thing on Nam-gyu’s mind was some less stuffy air and potentially some water. He didn’t notice the person that slipped in behind him once the triangle guards let him through. Just as he was about to push open the door to the bathroom a person barrelled into him from behind before grabbing him by the shoulders and turning him around so they were face to face.
Thanos’ face was so close their noses were almost touching, his pupils as blown out as ever and his hair messy from sleep.
“What’re you doing?” Thanos asked, as energetic as always despite having woken up minutes before. Nam-gyu looked beyond confused at the question but before he could answer he was dragged into the bathroom by his collar.
The world seemed to spin around them as they almost fell through the door, a consequence of Thanos’ enthusiasm.
Nam-gyu was far too tired to deal with any loud antics opting instead to drag himself over the sinks, the tile was cold beneath his hands, feeling much more real than most of the things he’d touched recently. The ceramic was stiff and unmoving beneath his palms and he couldn’t deny how it grounded him. He’d honestly forgotten he wasn’t alone in the bathroom, only reminded of that fact when a voice spoke up behind him.
“Fucks the matter with you boy?” Thanos said before asking again in Korean,
“What's wrong?”
If Nam-gyu wasn’t so out of it he’d be impressed by the fact Thanos was able to keep the same annoying tone in both languages.
“Nothings wrong, I just can’t sleep.”
Thanos just nods at the explanation before moving to stand next to Nam-gyu, mindlessly leaning onto the counter whilst fiddling with his cross necklace.
“Do you want another?” He said, holding out the necklace and popping it open.
“Fuck no that’ll just keep me up.”
Thanos shrugged before taking a pill out of the case before placing it on his tongue, the light blue pill resting on the end. Nam-gyu just watched, waiting for him to swallow. Thanos just grinned before saying,
“Last chance. If you want it then take it.” He stuck his tongue back on, the pill resting on top of it becoming more and more appealing by the second. Eventually he made up his mind and reached a hand to take the thing only to be stopped by a hand around his wrist and a challenging look in Thanos’ eye. Putting his tongue back in his mouth Thanos pouted mockingly,
“Fine, if you don’t want it, good luck finding your next fix, Nam-su.” Nam-gyu didn’t even bother responding, instead choosing to press their lips together in the most uncoordinated kiss he’d ever had. Thanos’ hands were instantly on Nam-gyu’s waist, clutching him tightly through the layers of fabric.
As the kiss went on Nam-gyu felt himself getting more and more desperate for air but more and more reluctant to pull away. He’d been crowded against the edge of the sink counter, half leaning and half sitting with his hands in Thanos’ hair whilst they kissed like it was the last thing they would ever do.
Eventually they did have to break for air, pulling away while panting softly, their hand still on each other. After taking a moment to catch his breath Thanos sticks out his tongue again with the, much more dissolved, pill sitting on top. Nam-gyu swears under his breath before pulling Thanos back in for another kiss, the pill now being passed between them both as they feel the effects begin to set in.
Later that night as Nam-gyu lay in bed next to Thanos he couldn’t help but reach out, gently brushing his pinkie finger against the other mans. He allowed himself a moment to revel in the softness before pulling his hand away only for it to be grabbed by the man next to him, he whipped his head to the side, silently asking what Thanos was doing. The only response he got was soft breathing. When Thanos pulled their hands to his chest Nam-gyu finally spoke up.
“What’re you doing?” Nam-gyu asked softly, his voice quiet but stern.
“My hands are cold, yours are warm.” Thanos answered as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“What if someone sees?” He hissed, looking around to see if anyone was awake and looking at them.
“I don’t give a fuck if anyone see’s. Just go to sleep and stop worrying Nam-su.”
“It’s Nam-gyu.”
“Whatever.”
