The school bell rang, announcing the end of class and unto their next period, lunch. Multiple students of Kamiyama high ran out towards the cafeteria to get their food while others had stayed in their classroom eating their bentos. Tsukasa was one of the students who stayed in their classroom, and so was Rui. He got up from his seat and walked over to Tsukasa. “What do we have here?” he looms over Tsukasa to see his bento. Tsukasa turns his head to face Rui. “Rui you stayed! I thought you left to the cafeteria as well.”
“Well I wanted to stay and Im not that hungry anyways.”
Rui moves and pulls out the chair infront of Tsukasa, he sat down laying an elbow unto his desk with his face on his cheek.
“Well I do appreciate having a friend during lunch. Especially if it’s you Rui.”
He smiles as he picks up a piece of chicken to eat. Rui says nothing and stayed looking at Tsukasa eating his lunch, he notices him staring closely at his face.
“Do you want some?” He says with a full mouth. “Can I have some?” Rui says eagerly.
“I thought you said you weren’t hungry”
“Well I just want to try a little of what you’re having.”
Tsukasa picks up a piece with his chopsticks and moves it towards Rui. “Alright then open up!” Rui stares at the hand wanting to feed him with the same chopsticks he used to eat,he then takes the bite. He chuckles slightly. Just as planned. Rui finishes his piece and smiles at Tsukasa.
“Thank you Tsukasa-kun that was very delicious.”
“It’s no problem! You should give thanks to my mother for that. She made this one today.”
“Should I really?” “Really what?”
“Give my thanks to her about you?” Rui smiles softly as he looks at Tsukasa again. He notices Rui’s expression and looks back.
“Uhhhh… If you want to… or I can pass the message that you liked her food.”
“..yeah…….alright..”
They continue to stare at each other for a bit then Tsukasa begins to eat again, finishing his meal. He packs the box away in his bag and gets up from his desk.
“Im going to the bathroom to wash my hands, wanna come?” Tsukasa tells Rui noticing he already had gotten up to follow him.
“Of course I do!”
Rui says happily. Tsukasa chuckles “Alright then!” They both leave the classroom walking down the hall. Rui is walking next to Tsukasa then they enter the bathroom. Tsukasa goes over to the sink and begins to wash his hands. Rui goes beside him again and fixes his hair by the mirror. He stares at his hair noticing it grew a bit from before.
“Tsukasa”
“Hm?”
“Should I cut my hair?” Rui turns his face to look at him. “A haircut?” Tsukasa glances at Rui touching his hair. He looks at the length that slightly goes down towards his neck. Its not that long to be cut.. He glances at his neck that was visible. Looking at the structure of how it looks. He notices slight sweat dripping down from his nape, how the lighting of the bathroom makes it shine a little. His eyes go from the back of the neck towards the front and to his chin. Staring at his jawline forming a beautiful visual of his neck.
“….”
“Tsukasa..?” Rui notices how hard he’s staring at him and gets nervous as his face turns flustered. Tsukasa’s eyes avert towards his cheekbones to his lips
“how…. pretty…”
Rui stiffened from his comment and he got more nervous, his neck began to blush.
“H-huh..??”
Rui glances at Tsukasa and they look at each other.
“Hm?”
Tsukasa notices how Rui froze after his thought about his appearance as if he knew what he thought. Yeah no way he knew what I thought… wait… Tsukasa realized that he spoke his thoughts aloud, and the worst thing is that Rui heard them!!
Tsukasa’s face turns red and begins stuttering.
“I- uhm….. you…..”
They stared at each other with flustered expressions painted on their faces. Tsukasa gets really nervous as Rui’s expression stays surprised by his comment.
“Tsukasa.. did you just call-“
“NO!” His hand reflexes on the flowing water from the sink and splashes Rui’s face. He stays with a shocked expression.
“Uhm…” Rui wipes his face and glances at the mirror seeing the blush he has from Tsukasa’s comment. He begins to giggle from the moment.
“What the heck Tsukasa.” Rui laughs as he continues to wipe his face.
“I- Im sorry..!!” Tsukasa grabs a towel and rushes close to Rui. Towel in hand, he began petting his face to dry him while the other hand holds his wet face.
“I didn’t mean to Rui… Im sorry..!” He continues to gently wipe his check and neck. Rui flinched slightly by his touch but soon began to lean more into his hand. Tsukasa felt how Rui relaxed himself by his touch, his eyes met with Rui’s. Their faces were inches away by how much Tsukasa came closer to dry him and Rui leaning unto him. Both of their eyes locking into each other, Rui’s eyes had a soft expression that Tsukasa would not be able to handle at the moment. He breaks the eye contact to look down, he wants to hide away from his gaze, and to hide his very own blush.
“You can… continue drying yourself now..” He says placing the towel on his shoulder, releasing his hands from his face.
“Well Im practically dry thanks to you.” Rui notices how nervous Tsukasa is by how his body cowered a bit, not by fear, but by how flustered his face was getting. He grabs the towel and places it on top of Tsukasa’s head, ruffling his hair with the towel.
“Thank you so much Tsukasa-kun!”
He continued to ruffle his hair but faster now.
“Hey no not my hair!” Tsukasa looks back up and takes his hands off. Rui giggles by the sight of Tsukasa’s slightly messed up hair. He pets his hair again to fix it.
“My bad~” Rui laughs again as he walks out the bathroom. Tsukasa stays still for a while, he looks at the mirror and sees his hair looking fine.
“……”
Tsukasa stares at his face filled with blush. Dammit…. He then snaps back to reality and left the bathroom to catch up to Rui.
“Heyy don’t leave me behind!” Tsukasa ran towards Rui. He sees him running back to him and chuckles. He began to pick up his pace, from walking to running away from Tsukasa.
“HEYYY” Tsukasa yells as Rui laughs by how he’s trying to catch up to him.
“Race Tsukasa-kun!” Rui began to run faster away from him. Tsukasa ran quicker as well, he reaches his hand to grab his cardigan but misses entirely. Tch!!
Tsukasa’s legs began to run even faster now since Rui was getting too farther away from him.
“Running from the guy who invited you and fed you is crazy Rui, crazy!!” Tsukasa yells as he runs. Rui is near to the end of the hallway and slows his pace then stops in his tracks. He turns around to grab Tsukasa with arms spread but he was running too fast and couldn’t stop in time, resulting to Tsukasa clashing unto Rui, his arms immediately clasping him as they both fell onto the ground.
“Ack.!!” They both grunted from the sudden impact they felt on their bodies from how hard they fell. Rui’s arms holding Tsukasa firmly from the fall.
“Jeez Tsukasa… I didn’t know how strong you were to push me down.” Rui speaks as Tsukasa’s face was buried unto his chest.
“Well you were running and I had to catch up to you! I had no other choice!” He lifts his head from Rui’s chest, both of them lock eyes. “Yeah I know my bad.. but it was fun!”
“Fun??!! No way!! Im like out if breathe now because of you!”
“Hehehe sorry Tsukasa-kun~” Rui says teasingly as he notices how Tsukasa struggles to catch his breath.
“Oh woww Rui yeah funny, really funny.” He slightly glares at him. “Hey don’t give me that face! Give me this one.” Rui lifts one of his hands off of Tsukasa and place his thumb and pointer finger on each side of his lips, forming a smile. Tsukasa chuckles at his recommendation.
“Soooo funny Rui.” Tsukasa glares again. Rui stared at his annoyed expression and began bursting of laughter. Tsukasa’s face turns red from the sudden laughs, from embarrassment, and, from seeing him laugh so close. This ticked Tsukasa off by how attractive he still looked after all this, he keeps on controlling himself from doing anything that would weird Rui away. Having self control is a bliss, and a curse for someone who has a crush on their dearest friend.
“Oh you wanna laugh??! I’ll make you laugh then!”
“What are you saying Tsuka-“ Rui felt Tsukasa’s hands tickling his waist, causing him to flinch, he shuts his mouth, trying to contain his laughter by the tickles. Tsukasa notices this and began to use both of his hand to tickle both sides. Rui broke out and started laughing more than ever.
“H-Hey no thats c-cheating..!!!!!”
He tries to speak but the tickles are too much for him to handle and continued to laugh. His arms began to slightly try to shove him off of him but Tsukasa didn’t budge. Seeing how Rui was laughing so hard also made him laugh. Tsukasa began laughing along with Rui, staring at each other whilst laughing away. Rui’s face was filled with laughter and happiness, a sight Tsukasa would never forget. Tsukasa’s face had a beautiful smile along with laughs that Rui adored to look at. Both of them shared loud laughters in the hallway, the tickles continued for a while, and so did this sweet atmosphere between them and their stare. Tsukasa then slowly stopped, leaning towards him, letting Rui to catch his breath and him too.
“That was cruel Tsukasa-kun…” Rui laughs again, wiping his tears with his finger. Tsukasa smiles at Rui then he snaps again and quickly gets off of him. They both stay there catching their breathes and recalling what happened between them through the whole time. Rui’s laughter and his face filled with pure happiness stayed on Tsukasa’s mind. How cute and lovely he looked having fun with the tickles, it made his heart warm, so warm. He chuckles and gets up from the floor. Looming over Rui, he reaches his hand out to him with a soft expression.
“Let’s go back to class before the bell rings..”
Rui looks at Tsukasa’s tender eyes. He also smiles back, eyes filled with love. Tsukasa noticed those eyes, the feelings behind that stare.
Oh Rui… you’re…..everything… I ever wanted…
Rui places his hand softly unto Tsukasa’s as they share another soft look.
I…. love you…Tsukasa…
He knows how sweet Tsukasa treats him. Rui loves that so much. He loves him so much. He grabs unto his hand and gets up, standing infront of Tsukasa.
“Yes let’s go back.” They both smile at each other and began to walk back towards their classroom…… they didn’t even realize they were still holding hands, even when they entered the classroom, but no one noticed their hands.
“ I need to tell him how I feel…”
