(Hendery - 🧸, Lucas - 🦇)
Lucas was like a savoir to Hendery, when he was at his lowest Lucas was there to comfort him and help him. But ever since Lucas had to move to a city 7 hours away, Hendery felt like relapsing to his lowest. The only thing keeping him from that? The late night calls he had with Lucas.. <3
It was finals week for Hendery and he had been studying nonstop until complete exhaustion. On a certain day before his Math exam he had been on call with Lucas while studying, but he couldn't really focus on studying to be completely honest.
🧸 :"Whens the next time youre visiting LuLu"
🦇 :"Probably not sooner than summer break"
🧸 :"thats so long tho. You haven't visited since last summer break"
Lucas could hear Henderys voice crack and the hitch in his breath
🦇 :"I know and im sorry budget is tight and i have a lot of school work to do"
The silence that followed that statement was killing Lucas. He knew that he was the only thing Hendery was holding onto. It hurt so bad but he wouldn't trade it for anything. That was selfish perhaps but Lucas didn't really care. Hendery was all he cared about and he'd kill to be with him, to hold him, to hug him, to kiss him.
🦇 :"Talk to me Dery. Im here for you"
Hendery had tears running down his cheeks at that point, it was stupid, wasnt it? He didn't respond just yet but he knew Lucas knew he was crying. Again. He had been crying a bit too often on their calls recently. The longer he didn't see Lucas the worse he felt.
🧸 :"I miss you."
Lucas smiled to himself a bit.
🦇 :"I miss you too."
It was a long silence after that exchange of words. Not the silence that was killing them tho. a Comforting silence. Just the knowledge that the other was there somehow brought comfort. Hendery tried to go back to studying but his mind seemed to keep drifting off.
🧸 :"LuLu can you help me with math real quick"
🦇 :"of course, what's the problem?
Hendery send a picture of his math problem, might have been easy to Lucas but certainly not to Hendery
🦇 :"It's hard to explain you just have to.. uh"
🧸 :"have to?"
🦇 :"I'm actually not sure how to explain it to you"
🧸 :"that's crazy."
Hendery sighed and decided to search up a simple explanation on YouTube so he wouldn't be stuck there all night.
Lucas was doing whatever on his PC checking emails, looking through messages and writing job applications while he was at it since he would be graduating this year.
They both lost track of time and at around 3AM Hendery yawned and stretched before he looked over at his monitor to check the time. He was used to staying up late so he really wasn't surprised when he read 3AM.
🧸 :"If you want to go to sleep you dont have to stay on call with me"
🦇 :"where did that come from? I never said anything about being tired at all"
🧸 :"I just thought I'd mention it since its 3AM"
🦇 :"I have a day off tomorrow i don't mind pulling an all nighter. You shouldn't tho, you have an exam tomorrow, right?
🧸 :"Well yeah but I'm not tired enough to sleep yet"
Lucas sighed heavily, he knew how hard it would be to convince Hendery to go to sleep. Hendery was like never tired. At least that's what he said. Lucas knew well enough that Hendery was tired. he just didn't want to end the call.
🦇 :"we don't have to end the call if you want to sleep you know?"
🧸 :"I know"
🦇 :"Just making sure you don't fail because you didn't sleep"
🧸 :"Yeah yeah."
Hendery debated for a bit whether to go to sleep or not but eventually he put his study session to an end and switched the call to his phone.
🧸 :"I think I'm gna go to sleep."
🦇 :"Okay, good night love"
🧸 :"Good night"
Hendery sat on his bed and turned the lights off before getting comfortable and placing his phone next to the pillow
🧸 :"I love you"
🦇 :"I love you more"
{Time skip to the next morning}
Hendery woke up at around 6AM for school, he texted Lucas a quick message to let him know that he'll be leaving call due to his strict rules at school. He got changed, grabbed his backpack and headphones before going downstairs to eat breakfast.
On the end Lucas woke up at around 11AM, first things first he checked his phone for any important missed calls or message but he only found Henderys message. He responded immediately before setting foot off the bed and getting ready for his day.
While eating breakfast he couldn't help but feel worried, last nights events were still on his mind, the desprate sound of Henderys voice when Lucas told him he couldn't visit earlier than summer break. It really hurt, he wanted nothing else but to be there for Hendery but the distance made that really difficult, Sometimes Lucas wished he never had to move so far away. Well not only sometimes, wished for that quite often.

🦇 :"How was youre exam love?
🧸 :"Its was fine, could've been better probably but its wtv :/"
🦇 :"Im sure you did great ml<3"
🧸 :"mhm"
(Weird, Hendery was so distant and dry..? was something wrong?)
🦇 :"Is everything alright, dery?"
🧸 :"yeah why shouldn't it be alright"
🦇 :"You don't act like yourself"
Yeah and with that Lucas was left on read.
Now he was more than worried. That was nothing like Dery at all, first the short and distant responses and now leaving Lucas on read? Totally not like Hendery at all. He tried to kill some time with drawing but nothing he did got his mind off of the situation at hand. At some point he had enough, he called Hendery, he needed to make sure everything was alright. He wouldn't be able get anything done while knowing Hendery was acting like a totally different person.
As soon as Hendery picked up the call Lucas started talking
🦇 :"Dery what's up? You've been acting nothing like yourself the whole day and don't even try the 'what do you mean' bullshit because the Dery i know doesn't just 'mhm' me or leaves me on read. So speak up tell me whats wrong."
There was a total silence for a few minutes.
🧸 :"I can't talk right now I'll call you back later.."
🦇 :"Don't even-"
Hendery hung up on him. Lucas tried to call him again multiple times but it never went through to him. At this point Lucas was worried sick. What if he does something to himself again? why won't Hendery talk to him?..
