Chapter Text
Throughout her time in the demon realm Luz Noceda had changed, not just how she acted and thought but physically too. Because she was killed by Belos she had been revived by the titan themself with a ridiculous amount of magical power. After using this power to defeat the once-emperor the titans soul had subsequently left her along with her ability to cast magic, at least that was what she had thought initially but even after they had left she could still partially feel the magic flowing through her as well as a new found strength and confidence. To her utter astonishment the glyphs had also stayed working even with the titan no longer being able to power them.
These were all mysteries that she had been too tired to think about yet as she had quickly started helping with the rebuilding of the isles as well as hanging out with her friends and family.
One week later and she was even finally going back to Hexside (Something that she had not previously considered and therefore had been quite the pleasant surprise).
After all the crazy events of the past week she had finally gotten back to something resembling a normal routine. She couldn't believe that after everything that had happened she got to have a happy ending of sorts. She had come to an agreement to stay in the boiling isles with Eda and Raine on weekdays and spend the weekends with her mother who had happily agreed to let Luz go to Hexside with her friends instead of school back in the (now accessible) human realm. And so that was where she found herself walking too on her first normal day back in the demon realm.
She had planned to meet up with her girlfriend halfway there from the owl house before finding the rest of her friends (Including the newly enrolled Hunter) outside of school.
“Sweet potato!” Luz said as she ran up to hug her beautiful girlfriend.
“Hello Luz.” Amity replied with a blush on her face as she was embraced in strong arms.
Before she knew it she had been picked up and was now being swung back and forth.
“W-when did you get so strong?” Amity stated her face now an impressively bright shade of red.
“Hehe what's the problem Blight? Can’t handle your strong girlfriend?” Luz replied, smirking at how flustered she was still able to get her Amity.
“Stop.” Amity whined half heartedly, hiding her face in the crook of Luz’s neck.
“Hmmm now that I think about it do you want me to carry you to school?”
“W-w-what?” Was all the blushing witch could muster before she was moved into a bridal-style carry.
“O-ok yes please carry me.” Amity exclaimed, prompting a giggle from Luz before she was carried away to Hexside.
When Luz and Amity got to school they were greeted by Gus, Willow and Hunter who were waiting outside.
“Here come the two lovebirds.” Gus stated as the two came into view.
“Hey guys!” Luz said, greeting her friends with all of her old enthusiasm.“How have you all been holding up?”
“Well Hunter and I finally went on our first date after finishing most of the repairs.” Willow answered promptly, taking the former golden guards hand in her’s.
“Yes, you two were a lot faster at finding your feelings unlike another couple I could mention.” Gus added laughing as both Amity and Luz started to blush.
“Hehe, I admit we did kinda just dance around each other for a few months.” Luz stated before adding. “Good to see you're now coming to Hexside Hunter!”
“Thanks” he replied before the bell screamed letting all the students know to start heading to their first classes.
“Ok bye guys, how bout we all meet in the cafeteria at lunch?” Luz asked, getting various noises of agreement from her friends Before walking away to her first class.
She really hoped that today would be normal and nothing would go wrong but after everything that had happened she knew it was worthless.
Boscha was pissed. Extremely pissed. Everything had changed, she no longer had any friends to hang out with, she had lost most of her status after the end of New Hexside, and thirdly that blasted human was still around.
It was an understatement to say that Boscha hatted Luz, She utterly despised the human with all her heart. Why? Because this was all her fault.
Before Luz had showed up she had everything she wanted. Power, respect, and friends. But then the sorry human had come waltzing into everyone's lives and taken everything from Boscha.
It started with Amity stopping hanging out with her. Preferring the company of the sorry excuse for a witch.
Then the idiot had challenged her to a grudgby match on behalf of half-a-witch Willow. Even though Boscha had won via catching the rusty smidge. Instead of proving her social dominance over the human and her company. Her own friends had all gone and celebrated with them before promptly stopping hanging out with her altogether.
One thing had led to another until the collector came and the human had left. While the human was gone she had regained her social status. And it had been great, with the help of Mickey (Who ended up being a disguised Kikimora) she became feared and respected, everything that she deserved.
But then the human just had to come back and ruin it. Making plans to save everyone and what-not. In the end both the collector and Belos were defeated and Boscha was back at square one. Yet again she was going back to school with no social status and no friends.
She had just finished her third potions lesson where she had thankfully been able to get out some of her frustration on a new student going by the name of Hunter. The poor boy had been so confused when she had swapped some of his snake oil for slitherbeast spit causing his smoke potion to explode in his face. In the end it had been a good laugh but never did much to quench her ever growing hatred of the Human. To be fair, getting her anger out on a random student was nowhere as satisfying as getting it out on the real deal. So when lunch came around and she spotted a certain person she knew exactly what she was going to do.
Luz’s day had been much better than she had expected. Having her first three classes as Illusions, Plants, and Abominations she had had a lot of time to talk and laugh with most of her friends.
As she walked down the corridor her mood was dampened at the sight of a disgruntled Hunter.
He was the only one of her close friends that she had not had a class with so she decided to go check out what happened.
“Hey bro what happened?” She asked, causing him to turn around and face her.
“Oh, I just had a bad class.” He replied before sighing and walking with her to lunch.
“From your overall demeanour I'd say it was a bit more than just bad.” She then prompted “Tell me what happened”.
“Fine,” He sighed. “When we were making smoke potions someone swapped my snake oil for something else causing the potion to explode in my face. After that everyone started laughing and with everything that has been happening it’s honestly got me pretty bummed being my whole first day and everything”.
“Hmm I bet you it was Boscha, that bitch has always been such an annoying asshole.” Luz said before laughing as her brother choked from her choice of wording.
“LUZ!” he sputtered looking at her. “Since when have you used language like that?”
“What can I say the past few months changed me and by god I will make sure to put that three eyed freak in her place if she tries to mess with anyone again!” She answered before they finally made it to the cafeteria. She instantly went with Hunter to sit with her friends greeting Amity with a heartfelt hug.
“Luz it’s only been 45 minutes since you last saw me.”
“I know, just like hugging you.” Luz replied before sitting down.
“And kissing and cuddling and tickling an- “ Willow clamped a strong hand over Gus’s mouth before he could say anything scandalous.
“We don’t need to hear the rest of that thank you very much.”
Willow informed him before removing her hand.
“Imjustsaying” Gus stated before quieting down from all the glares he received.
“Well how was all your guys' classes, anything interesting happen?” Luz asked her friends.
“Compared to everything that has happened I doubt anything at school could be very interesting.” Amity replied
“Fair, but it’s nice to be back now.” Luz concluded before a familiar annoying voice rang out through the cafeteria.
“Oh Hunter I didn’t know you were such a loser, day one and you're already hanging out with people like half a witch Willow and the human. Seriously if you want to get anywhere in life I recommend you at least hang out with competent witches not these wastes of space.” Boscha said, walking over to their table smirking.
“Honestly I can’t believe you all decided to come back to the demon realm, it was much nicer with you all gone.”
“ENOUGH!” Luz’s voice echoed through the room as she stood up slamming her hands on the table with a bang causing most of the other students to stare.
“I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU BOSCHA, AFTER EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO COME HERE AND TRY TO BE A SUCH A BITCH.” Luz was now standing directly in front of Boscha towering over her. “After everything you still think you're the queen bee of Hexside when really you have no status at all, you think you're so special but you're nothing but a worthless waste of space. Let me tell you Boscha all your life you thought you were something important and honestly I am completely SICK OF IT "Que te jodan a ti y a tu mente ilusa, que se jodan tu pelo rosa y tus tres ojos feos. ¡Honestamente, pensar que alguna vez llegaste a algún lugar en Hexside de todos modos cuando solo eres una perra tensa a la que solo su madre podría amar! ¡Ya terminé contigo y con tu actitud de mierda!" By the time Luz had finished she was breathing heavily and now everyone was watching. No one in the room had ever really seen Luz angry and were used to a happy ever-optimistic human nerd who was kind to everyone around her, Boscha especially looked extremely shocked and possibly slightly scared but it didn’t take long for the three eyed witch to regain her composure.
“What the hell did that mean?” Boscha asked, trying to regain control of the situation.
“Do you need a translation?!” Luz replied with enough venom in her voice to make Boscha visibly flinch back in fear.
“That's what I thought” Luz concluded after a moment of silence before turning her back to walk out of the room.
All eyes followed the departing Human and there was silence for a second, that second didn’t last long though as before Luz could reach the exit a voice echoed out from behind her.
“Luz Noceda I-I challenge you to a witches duel!”
