The sharp clinical smell clung to the cold air in the examination room. It was like an unwelcome reminder of where I am. The paper sheet beneath me scrunched as I shifted uncomfortably. My hands where clasped in my lap and my fingers dug into my palm.
How did I get here? The question echoed in your mind. At what point did everything spin so completely out of control?
The doctor’s voice cut through my thoughts. I only caught the tail of whatever she had just said. The words not fully registering until they hit me like a ton of bricks.
‘’Excuse me?” my own voice sounded foreign and distant.
This is it. The end of everything. The end of my world, my life, my career.
