Work Text:
FSYAF: The good with the bad.
Chica was left to prepare the group reheated pizza yet again, though it was always by her own accord she still felt a degree of boredom by the monotony of it all. The chicken was always keen to be the helpful and generous friend that all could rely on, being content with her role and how it made their work dynamic feel more natural.
But on this day, this evening, while she stood in the kitchen watching into the oven as it slowly reheats the pre-prepared pizza… she felt tired of it. This was an odd difference to her, her regular demeanour was ordinarily unaffected by the repetitive lifestyle and she never held such qualms so… intensely as she did on this occasion. If nothing else, Chica could be relieved that in her time of imbalance she would be left unattended and not worry any of her friends.
While the Chicken knew that she shouldn’t be feeling so nervous to show her true emotions around her colleagues, she was so caught up with the idea of everyone worrying about her change in personality that she never dared to let it slip. She instead opted to relieve her worries through cleaning and other organising duties, hoping that the sense of order would help her maintain her emotions.
…
But now she had nothing to do except wait and think, she couldn’t distract herself with anything more as she had already completed all tasks and was to count down the timer for the oven to be finished. As she stood there leaning on the counter facing the oven, Chica could not help but let out a sigh in frustration.
Chica: (talking to herself) “darn it girl, keep yourself together… they don’t need to be worrying themselves about me just yet… “ (she tried to reason with her emotions, but the direct confrontation to her hidden feelings had her mental fortitude crumbling).
Chica: (deep breaths and closing eyes) “… it’s alright, you’re okay… it’s alright… you’re… (slight trembling in voice)… you’re okay… j-just gotta breathe and focus on the p-pizza…” (she kept her eyes closed as she would try to calm herself before the eventual return to her group of friends, but found herself struggling to even stand still and count down the seconds on the timer).
As the silence drew and she felt herself unable to put her focus elsewhere, the chicken would try and stay completely still in an effort to restrict any outburst… but she was finding the energy slip away from her as she waited longer.
On the cusp of her emotional breakdown, A familiar Pirate Fox would open the doors to the kitchen and promptly walk inside without paying immediate mind to the chicken.
Foxy: (jovially walking around the kitchen space) “where can a fox find ‘imself another lighter… I coulda sworn we’d kept a spare over…- (he notices the Chicken facing the oven, stiff and frozen but with an immense look of focus on the Fox in the room) Oh hiya Chica! How’s the pizza coming along? I do hope you’ve cooked enough for yerself as well!” (He looked slightly shocked to see Chica, after all he hadn’t heard her make a noise at any point as he was inside the kitchen so it was a surprise to see her standing out in the open).
Chica would roll her shoulders in an attempt to shake off her prior panic, but still found herself without the ability to assemble a response for the Fox.
Foxy: (failing to see any specific reason for her lack of response just yet, continues) “now… err… yer’ wouldn’t know where I could find meself a lighter now would ya?” (He asks this rather sheepishly and Chica acknowledges this on Foxy’s face)
It was no surprise to any of the band members that the iconic ‘Pirate Fox’ Foxy had a few unsightly vices he’d frequently use. One of the more prominent of which was his smoking habits, which would ordinarily be a cause for alarm for any person regardless if they even had lungs to damage. The band would not like to discuss this as much, they all had their coping mechanisms for stress that could accumulate while working, but the Fox just seemed to take more drastic measures, much to the groups disdain.
His other notable vice was that he would spend an elaborate amount of time in solitude within his ‘Pirate Cove’. It was assumed by the rest of the band that this had been a means to create a workshop space for future productions or to hone in on his acting of specific characters, but after a while they understood that it was also a form of escapism for him. Both of which worked hand in hand to create unease within the group, Foxy would always be his usual self when interacting with his fellow bandmates but his behaviour during downtime was a cause for concern for his wellbeing.
Chica: (moving her focus onto Foxy’s question) “F-foxy… you know w-we can talk with ya’ if you wanna clear your mind… “ (Foxy would slump at this attempt at an intervention, one of a hundred other attempts to guide him towards quitting smoking).
Foxy: (trying to drop the topic) “Chica… cmon now, it’s not yer’ fault I… (he holds up the small packets of cigarettes) these things don’t even do nothin’ for me… something about them just… calms me down fer’ some reason… “ (he finishes sombrely while reflecting on his substance issue).
Chica would become more empathetic from Foxy’s response, but would still feel slightly guilty that the Fox couldn’t rely on his friends to help.
Chica: (ready to drop the conversation but still leaving him with a reminder he has options) “Alright then… I can’t say I don’t still feel a little guilty you feel that way but… whatever helps, just… let me know I-if you ever wanna talk… yknow my doors always open…” (after finishing her statement she promptly move her attention back fully on the oven, expecting the Fox to depart soon).
As she turned her attention back to her timer, she awaited the sound of the Fox leaving the room behind her, hoping that he’d consider what she said… unfortunately that’s not exactly what he did.
Foxy: (silence for moment in consideration) “… shoot, ya got me… I suppose I could talk a little bit…” (Now, Chica had directly stated that she would ALWAYS be open to talk… yet when the fox suddenly decided to accept her offer she stiffened on the spot woefully unprepared).
Foxy: (sighing and sauntering over to a step stool to sit down on) “well, pizza ain’t too long, so I won’t go too into the detail… but, I’ve been feeling a little… trapped…” (The fox’s wording greatly intrigued the Chicken suddenly, she became much more rational as she attempted to fully understand how foxy had been feeling).
Chica: (pause as she gained her courage to speak once more) “you can keep Goin’ Foxy, I’m listening…” (she reassured the Fox who only slightly relaxed his posture in response).
Foxy: (another momentary sigh as he mulled over his next words carefully) “… well, when I say t-trapped what I mean is… err… well, I feel as though I can’t fully express how I’m feelin’ around you lot… because I’m worried that you’d get all.. (he pauses to find the word) I don’t know… sorry for me…?” (Chica hears Foxy’s words and it’s as if he were speaking them directly from her own mind, she was stunned to hear the Fox had also been feeling this way… or that he’s actually confronting these feelings with her).
Chica: (on instinct she would respond) “you’re telling me you feel that too…?” (Before she slammed her mouth shut with her hands to try and take back what she admitted).
Foxy snapped his head over to the Chicken almost immediately, instantly noticing how her expression soured and face flushed red with her reveal. There wasn’t… she could actually have been feeling the same way right? This was Chica we’re talking about! She’d never been…
…
… or maybe she had. Maybe she always had this within her and they were all just too blind to notice… god how much had she been suffering with all of this pressure on her mind?? He felt so stupid for not noticing sooner.
Foxy: (shock and concern still evident in his face) “Chica… yer’… I hadn’t any idea, I’m so sorry I-I… I shoulda noticed…” (he looked at her super dejectedly and THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT CHICA HAD WANTED TO AVOID).
Chica: (backpedaling while also unable to stop herself) “W-well it really ain’t all that bad, I- (Chirp!)… I just kinda clean and cook a little and that… helps me forget… (she pauses as she gauges Foxy’s deepening frown) … F-foxy y-you… you shouldn’t worry yerself about me… I’m okay, Really!” (She tries to reassure the Fox but he just continues to look at her with more and more misery in his eyes. God did Chica loathe how this interaction was going just as she feared.
Foxy: (sadly but also fairly bluntly) “Chica, yer’ talking out your ass…” (this crass statement would bring another loud ‘Chirp!’ Out of the chicken in response)
Chica: (flustered and stunned) “F-foxy I d-don’t quite understand what you…” but she is cut off as the Fox continues).
Foxy: (still with sadness evident in his expression, he bluntly pushes forward in his response) “You’ve just stood there not seven minutes ago and went about tellin’ me how I should be trusting ye’ to talk about my feelings… but here yer’ standing and saying how your problems somehow have less importance to us…” (as he finished Chica was reeling from the intrusion into her soul that his words left, she was left desperately trying to send this conversation to another direction).
Chica: (panicking a little) “F-foxy I… I really can’t… you don’t need to- (Chirp!)… worry about me, I-I’m fine!” (Her stammering completely betrayed her response, the Fox was unconvinced and got up out of his seat).
Chica: (full panic now and eyes pleading at the Fox) “Foxy wait! P-please don’t tell the gang about this! I-I… they… please! I j-just-! (Chirp!) … they CAN’T see me l-like this! Please Foxy-!” (She gets cut off as she feels and arm around her shoulder, snapping herself out of her rambling).
Chica widens her eyes in surprise as he turns to the fox by her side, he looks down at her with a look of concern and trepidation as if he hadn’t an idea on how to properly deal with this situation but trying in any way he could. The chicken would continue to stare up at the Pirate in silence as this was something she never considered happening following her making her emotions clear.
Foxy: (softly and reassuring) “Chica, yer’ far to hard on yerself… how you feel is just as important to us as anything and that shouldn’t go ignored…” (this… direct personal response to Chica had her… feeling a lot more… conflicted than usual.
Chica was now flushed and vibrating at the attention and Foxy wasn’t paying mind to it yet, instead focusing on how she was twisting her expression to desperately hide her inner feelings at the last possible moment, but the Fox could see she was losing the battle.
Chica: (completely red at the position and circumstance) “F-foxy… you… I-I think you should… (she pauses as the fox shuts his eyes and frowns deeper) I-I mean… I d-don’t know if- (Chirp!)…” (before she could continue, The fox would move even closer in an effort to comfort her into relaxing and opening up, moving his other arm around the Chicken to hold her in a hug).
Okay… this is getting TOO FAR! Chica’s brain had screamed at her, her mind absolutely desperate to get her to pull away and forget this interaction in its entirety. She was so repelled by that action mentally and internally… yet she hadn’t moved an inch in ten seconds straight, still showing no signs of fleeing after another 15 seconds passed.
Chica’s mind was ablaze as she stood there in perfect silence in the arms of the scruffy Fox character, She felt cataclysm of emotions all at once that she was all too confused by. She recognised some of them, mainly Fear, Anxiety, Nervousness and Shock… but… she also felt oddly warm. Though she knew neither of the animatronics could produce any kind of heat from contact, there was a rising warmth in her chest and face as she stood hugging Foxy that she couldn’t explain.
Foxy: (still only paying attention the her panic prior) “Chica… yer’ getting too worked up about this, it’s okay to feel upset but… ya can’t get any help from hiding it away from everyone…” (Foxy’s head was atop her shoulder as he said this, meaning these softly spoken words of reassurance traveled right into her brain and clouded her thoughts immediately, certainly not helping her temperature issue).
This situation was getting way too out of hand and intimate than Chica would ever have anticipated, whatever happened to just standing and waiting for the Pizza to cook? Why couldn’t she have just kept things so simple? Now all this is… well, it certainly is helping her arrange her thoughts better, quite the opposite in fact because she had absolutely no idea what she was feeling or how to respond to it.
Chica: (stifling only a mere few words while in her position) “F-foxy… Y-you- (Chirp!)… we… what are y-you…?” (Foxy wouldn’t move her arms more securely to the chicken to better emphasis the gesture… inadvertently causing more and more sputtering from the chicken).
The Fox was not too used to displaying forms of comfort, that typically was Freddy’s specialty during service hours and the Fox always seemed to dismiss the notion when it came to his attention. It was only recently that something in Foxy’s head clicked that said ‘Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to try?’ And so he’d become a lot more gentle and relaxed in his movements when near a distressed individual, hoping that this would help in any way and teach him how to eventually become more dependable.
That being said, as the fox leant down to secure his coworker into his chest with a wide hug, something in him felt… different, much alike how everyone claims to have been feeling lately. He was sure he was feeling glad to help someone, this acting as assurance for him to continue to try and get the chicken to calm down through his contact. As much as he could guess the feelings to be associated with his nurturing, there was more, more attached to that which was specifically present thanks to the circumstances and certain woman involved.
Chica had gone into a more relaxed state as the time went along, her stiff and frozen limbs and posture slowly melting into the Fox in front of her, the warmth of the contact calming all her previous nerves and turmoil. Chica was not completely at the mercy of instinct though, she still had the ability to speak her mind however faltering it may have been.
Chica: (still stumbling) “F-foxy you’re… (Chirp!)(Chirp!) I-I-I… shouldn’t-“(she was cut off by foxy though, as he anticipated more deflection from the topic in her next words).
Foxy pulled his head back from Chica’s shoulder and crooking his neck to look down at her face, analysing her expression to see what else he could do that could possibly help. What he saw was… well, it sure was something… but relief? Didn’t seem to be the case just yet, so he would respond.
Foxy: (being aware of his distance from Chica, spoke much more softly) “Chica, we all care about ye’, you’re the most kind of all of us… of course it’s gonna worry us when her feeling so down and we don’t know how ta’ help… but that’s something ye’ can always trust us to try and do… So I’ll be here, just let me know what you want… I’ll be here to help…” (Chica would absolutely melt and the sincerity and care in the Fox’s words, she… goddamn… she was rendered speechless).
Foxy would stand there in place with his hold snuggly on the Chicken in front of him, looking down at her face to await for some sign of calmness, but he would soon be met with confusion at what he actually saw in its place. Chica was held by the Fox so securely that all she could feel and think about was the contact and warmth she felt in that moment, her eyes drooping as she stared on into Foxy’s face, failing to notice as it subtly slipped into a confused expression.
The longer the pirate fox stood anticipating an audible response from the chicken in his arms, the more he became aware of how little a response he was getting from her at all outside of the longing stare at him she developed while he was distracted… Oh no, he’s thinking he’d maybe broken her or something! Overloaded her circuits with all the contact! Oh crap, This could be bad…!
Foxy: (slight alarm as he returned Chica’s gaze) “… err… Ay Chica?… are ye’ alright-? (He was cut off this time by a move completely out of nowhere from the Chicken, she leaned her neck forward and pressed her beak against his snout in a kiss, leaning in with her own embrace as her arms wrapped around the pirates back).
Shock and awe, awe and shock, shock and awe, awe and shock and awe and shock and- WHAT IS HAPPENING!?? Foxy was losing his marbles and had no working arms for which to pick them back up. He… she… she was… Chica was… with him?… WHY!??.
Foxy’s eyelids snapped wide open as he took in the sight in front of him in full detail, Chica continued moving her surprising soft beak gently around his own mouth with her eyes firmly closed as if in a dreaming stupor. As she pressed further into his body, The Fox would feel as his mind slipped away and his arms fell slack to his side, he too was melting in the moment. While both robots stayed stuck in wordless silence, with only the noises of their mouths and the sharp breathes of air in-between pauses to fill the room.
The two were stuck in their own world at that moment, as if all the troubles that they were experiencing prior had slipped away with the influx of warmth that had accompanied the scene. Eventually the fox too fell victim to the moment and started moving his mouth and making his own attempts at returning the affection to the Chicken, who immediately responded by intensifying her grip on his back fur.
This sudden moment of pure emotion continued for what felt like hours, the scene becoming more and more drastic as they faintly clawed further at each others backs to kiss the other deeper. They were lost in each others arms at that moment, both misery’s of the previous hour had faded from memory as the relentless battle between both animals mouths became more intense and elongated.
As both of them continued to fall deeper into this pit of romance, they had their eyes closed shut and ears deaf to the world around them-
(ALARM SOUND!! ALARM SOUND!!)
Both pairs of eyes snapped open in shock, the two animals quickly became aware of their position and came to moment of clarity that left both of them completely flushed and anxious. Chica separated first, having to move the Fox’s arms off of her back to exit his hold and shuffled over to the source of the noise.
Chica: (breathing intensely and trying to centre her thoughts) “Huh… th-the uhh… The Pizza! Haha… ha… (Chirp!) A-almost forgot about that…! Hehe…” (she leads off her sentence with a couple more instinctively produced Chirps).
Foxy was stuck where Chica had left him, still trying to process his surroundings and past… engagements… so when he finally regained control of his mind he suddenly understood what Chica had said.
Foxy: (awkward chuckle) “Hahar! Yes! I err… that too slipped my mind… “ (he scratched the side of his head in nervousness as Chica took the moment to quickly take the pizza out of the oven).
Now both stood in the kitchen with a sliced pizza split across four plates, but both were not sure how to talk about what had just happened between them. Chica feeling especially conflicted on trying to explain her sudden romantic advance towards the fox, she truly had just gotten caught up in the moment and… oh jeez she hadn’t even considered how Foxy felt! Oh now she’s really gone and done it, how can-?
Foxy: (noticing Chica’s quickly panicking expression) “Chica… (this immediately caught her focus) … I don’t err… know much about feelings and the sort… but that was… (he seemed to regain his footing after another brief pause) ‘Twas rather lovely, thank ye’ for that!” (Chica’s worries immediately fell away, replaced with another immense wave of ‘Chirps!’ And fluster that had the plates she was carrying shake in her grip).
Chica: (still recovering from the comment and with a reinvigorated heart of her own) “th-thank you Foxy… anytime…” (that last word struck Foxy for surprise, as his mouth turned into a slight grin at the promise).
Both decided that they had held off from feeding their friends for long enough and both walk through the doors of the kitchen and into the main room where the other two band members sat, both let out their gratitude to the food and began conversation with Chica and Foxy as they both sat down to eat. Whatever they were saying to them? They couldn’t tell you, being honest, their minds couldn’t leave that moment they shared and how it felt. For hours afterwards they would sit essentially glowing at the memory until it came time to retire.
Foxy: (clears throat and garners Chica’s immediate attention) “well err… I’d say I best be off to me’ cove then…” (Chica took this signal and flushed as she went to return the remark).
Chica: (red in the face once more) “Y-yeah I also must be- (Chirp!)… heading off for the night…” (she got up from the table and foxy took this as his sign to do the same).
As Chica began walking into the corner of the main room where her room was in, a faint but… evil voice beckoned her to utter something more to the Fox. After stopping in her tracks, she eventually relented in letting her mind get the better of her.
Chica: (turning sharply and facing the fox who was walking to his own room) “Hey uhh, Yknow… Foxy? (He quickly turned around at the sound of his name from the chicken) … Don’t suppose you’d wanna… talk some more~?” (Foxy initially hadn’t fully understood her meaning, but as she quickly nodded her head into the direction of her door, he very very quickly sprang to attention).
Foxy: (stammering but also slightly smirking) “ay…. I err… w-well… I certainly could use the company I suppose… okay Chica!” (He started walking towards where the chicken stood and she absolutely revelled in the fact her first attempt at flirting went so perfectly, now only came to figuring out everything else).
As the two entered the room and closed the door behind them, they were unsure of how they would figure out the next steps in their relationship after such a intense beginning, but whatever the case… they were going to figure it out together.
(THE END)
