Getting Yuuri drunk is all fun and games until Viktor accidentally goads him into kissing other men. This happens more often than he’d like to admit.
This time the unwitting victim is poor Yurio, who’s been moping in a corner all night even though they’re supposed to be celebrating the… promotion? Birthday? Okay, Viktor doesn’t know what life event they are celebrating for Georgi’s new girlfriend but the rink is closed for maintenance tomorrow, so they all have the day off. They’ll take any excuse to let loose tonight.
“Stop mooning over each other, you two disgust me!” Yurio is snapping and snarling from the corner, unusually riled up and pink cheeked. Viktor’s lost track of what round of drinks they’re on.
“Aw, I think he’s sad ,” Yuuri says, uncomfortably loud considering his mouth is directly against Viktor’s ear. He’d draped himself over the taller man’s back several minutes ago, apparently in need of the additional stability. “Something must have happened!”
“Nothing happened!” Yuri interjects, too quickly, and his cheeks heat up even more, a proper blush overtaking the glow of alcohol.
“You’re a bad liar, Yurio,” Viktor tuts, bringing a finger to his lips, “Now what could have possibly upset our ice kitten, hm? It couldn’t have anything to do with rumors about a date with a certain danseur from Lilia’s studio could it?”
“Sh-shut up,” Yuri replies, pinning his fierce gaze on the wall instead of looking at either of them, “It’s none of your business!”
“Oh no, was it bad?” Yuuri has tears in his eyes already, “If he wasn’t nice to you, we’ll kick his butt!”
Yuri wrinkles his nose and gives him a funny look, “Just say ass like a normal person! And no you won’t because Lilia would kill you if you injured one of her principals the week before the premiere of her new ballet.”
“But you admit it was a bad date.” Viktor raises an eyebrow in victory at the way Yuri scowls but doesn’t deny it. “Poor thing, tell us what went wrong?”
“What went wrong where?” Mila pops into their corner, smelling gossip like a bloodhound on the trail of a lost child. “Who did Yuri have a bad date with?”
“One of Lilia’s principal dancers,” Viktor fills her in quickly, “He’s just about to tell us all of it.”
“Well, then we’ll need a new round!” She announces, producing a tray of shot glasses and a mostly full bottle of vodka. Even Yuri can’t complain at that, dutifully downing the glass with barely a grimace.
“It was fine. Boring mostly.” Yuri finally relents and tells the story, ‘We met at a cafe. Had tea and pastries. Whatever. We didn’t really have anything to talk about except for ballet which I don’t even particularly like. He knows nothing about skating. Wasn’t even impressed when I told him I was working a quad flip into my short program.”
Viktor winces and Yuuri makes a sympathetic sound. “But you’re getting so good at it!” He exclaims, “I’m sure he’d be impressed if he saw it in person.”
“Maybe,” Yuri says with a shrug, “But I doubt that will ever happen since it ended so shitty.”
“Did he not walk you to the door?” Mila asks, frowning, “I hate when men don’t even turn off the car to let you out.”
“What? No. We drove to the cafe separately.” Yuri asks, sounding scandalized, “And I would have walked him otherwise. But while we were saying goodbye, I thought, like, fuck it , you know? And I tried to kiss him, because I figured we might at least have physical chemistry. But at the same time I decided that he went in for a hug so I kind of missed his mouth. By a lot. But he realized what I was trying to do and then he was all ‘no, no, I want to kiss, too’ so then we did kiss and it was awkward and awful and it felt super forced, like he didn’t really want it at all. And if that’s what kissing is like then maybe I don’t want to do it at all! And what does that say about me!”
He pauses and finds his tirade has gathered the attention of most of the party. Everyone is silent, watching him as he slowly turns red in the face.
“Nevermind, this is stupid!” He says, dipping his head so the curtain of his bangs falls over his face. “I don’t want to talk about it anymore.”
“Aw, Yurio,” Viktor observes with a mean glint in his eye. “Was that your first kiss ?”
Yuri’s face disappears behind his palm. “That’s none of your business!”
Mila gasps and Yuuri startles, wobbling a little before straightening up, hand drawn to his chest.
“Poor Yura!” Mila sighs, “Don’t give up on kissing! Lots of people have bad first kisses. Not me, of course, I was a natural. But you're so stuck up, I’m sure it will take you a few tries to get the hang of it.”
“Just like finding your agape took time and practice,” Viktor teases, fingers steepling beneath his chin, “If you want it, I’m sure you’ll like kissing eventually.”
Yuri’s shoulders are high and tight, like he’s trying to sink into himself and then possibly through the floor. He wants everyone in the room to stop looking at him and then he wants to die .
“Stop teasing him!” Yuuri is shockingly coherent as he swats first Viktor and then Mila. “Yurio’s upset about this! We should be helping him!”
“You want to help him practice kissing?” Viktor asks idly, smoothing down the hair at the back of his head, “I’m sure you could find some volunteers somewhere. Maybe in the Junior division? Anyone who doesn’t know him yet.”
“That’s a great idea,” Yuuri nods sagely, only listening to the first half of the suggestion. The pronouncement is curious enough that Yuri peaks over his fingers just in time to watch Yuuri close the distance between them in three, long strides. Then he places his hand on either side of Yuri’s head, effectively pinning him in his corner.
“You said you had difficulty with the approach, right?” Yuuri says, his voice having dropped an octave on the walk over, and his dark eyes turned black in the low light of the room. “It’s good to get close first, like this. And you should make eye contact with the person, to build expectation. Make sure they’re prepared for it before going in.”
Viktor clears his throat, gives a low, “Yuuri…”
But neither Yuri is listening to him. Yuuri is looking at Yurio’s pink mouth, watches his tongue dart out to wet his lower lip, and Yuri’s gaze has been magnetized to Yuuri’s eyes which seem impossibly big behind his thick lenses.
“Wh-what else?” Yuri asks, his voice suddenly dry.
“Then you just…” Yuuri flows through the space between them, closing it completely. Their mouths press together, soft and slightly sticky from the spit.
Yuuri sinks into the kiss, eyes fluttering shut, and turns his head to improve the angle. His lips just barely part against Yuri’s before closing once more. It’s a smooth, even pressure that sends frissions of sensation zinging down Yuri’s spine.
For his part, Yurio doesn’t exactly kiss back , but he lets himself be kissed. Hands dangling at his sides, and eyes falling closed. The rest of the room drops away, Yuuri’s body effectively caging him in and sealing him away from the many prying eyes.
Yuuri pulls back half an inch, licks his lips, and is angled to kiss him again, when a heavy hand descends on his shoulder and yanks him back.
“Viktor!” He cheers when he tilts his head back and finds himself cradled against his fiancee’s chest. “Look! I helped Yurio! He’s gonna be the best at kissing now!”
Yurio stands stock-still for about three seconds before he explodes, hands flailing, “What the hell was that, Katsudon!”
“Practice kissing!” Yuuri giggles.
Viktor holds him tightly by the waist, glaring at Yurio first before side-eyeing his partner. “Didn’t look like practice to me.” He mutters.
“Aww, are you jealous?” Yuuri’s eyes sparkle and he’s still laughing when he asks, “Do you want to give him another example?”
Viktor is quick to take him up on the offer, angling his Yuuri’s jaw so he can mouth at his lips, hungry and demanding. They kiss, slow and deep. One of Yuuri’s hands comes up to tangle in Viktor’s silver hair, the other meets the hand at his waist, stroking it tenderly. When they separate for air, Yuuri giggles again.
“I meant you should kiss Yurio!”
“No thank you.”
“Hell no!” Both Russian skaters voice their displeasure at once and Mila cackles.
“We should get Yuuri drunk at least once a week.” She says from behind her phone camera, “This is going to blow up my Instagram.”
“No filming!” Viktor swipes at her phone, temporarily abandoning Yuuri who stumbles without his support. On the few occasions that Yuuri drinks, Viktor has been honor bound to make sure no evidence of it reaches the internet. And with Mila involved, that means deleting the source material.
“You’re no fun!” She complains as he swipes through her most recent photos and videos, deleting them liberally.
“I think you’ll find that Yuuri disagrees.” Viktor says, handing her phone back and returning to his husband’s side. “Speaking of which, let’s get you home before you’re too drunk to do horizontal kissing before bedtime.”
“Whee!” Yuuri cheers when Viktor sweeps him into a bridal carry.
“You’re disgusting.” Yura complains, still pinned in his corner.
Viktor smiles at him and offers a lazy wave goodbye, “Don’t knock it ‘til you try it. But find your own practice buddy! Mine is taken!”
