Work Text:
A piece of paper was served on the coffee table as Hanbin was lazing on the sofa with his eyes closed. Hanbin took a peek at the paper before his eyes completely focused on his beautiful husband who currently standing in front of the same coffee table, distancing himself from Hanbin. His face was grim, his voice was cold as he said,
“Hyong, we should get a divorce.”
Silence.
The room went completely silent as that cursed word spat from Matthew’s mouth.
One.
Two.
Three.
It took three seconds for Hanbin to process what his husband–his lovely and sweet husband– just said. Hanbin’s half-opened eyes were now popped out from its sockets, what did that mean? Did he hear that correctly?
His shocked face quickly turned into a deep frown. Hurt and confusion were evident from the reflection of his eyes.
“Mashu, what do you mean? Did hyung do anything wrong? Have hyung ever hurt you with my words or actions?” Hanbin hunted for an answer, an explanation for the request for a split. Panic settled deep inside his chest, making him unable to focus on anything but Matthew’s gloomy face.
Matthew shook his head slowly, his lip which was always in an upturned smile was now bent beyond anything Hanbin ever witnessed before.
“Is it because I ate your ice cream again? Hyung promise you-”
Tears escaped Matthew’s round eyes halting Hanbin from continuing his words. His Matthew was crying and it was too pitiful, too hurtful for Hanbin to accept.
Is this it? Did he really fucked up? Did he finally hurt the person he loved the most in this world?
“No, hyong. You’re perfect, too perfect. You’re kind, too kind. You would never wrong me in any way,” Matthew sobbed, his pretty hazel eyes flooded with tears. Matthew's sad noise shook Hanbin to the core, he couldn’t leave his beloved alone even when his other half asking for the impossible. Hanbin rose from the sofa he seated and started to pull the younger into his embrace.
Matthew’s warm body was wrapped by Hanbin’s safe arms, the haven that had been his home for years—till now, when he asked for a divorce.
“Then tell hyung, hmm, why?” Hanbin entreated, trying his best to stay calm as he wondered the reasoning behind this surprise. He held Matthew’s wet cheeks, swiping off the remnants of tears from the pretty face.
“Hyong. That's the problem,” Matthew's words deepened the lines on Hanbin's forehead. His gloom-sulking downturned lips twitched slightly. A small giggle escaped Matthew’s cute lips.
“What do you mean?” Hanbin whined, his pink lips now pouting, making Matthew stop his fake tears and get the corner of his mouth lifted. Matthew tried to hold his grin and continue his acting.
“You too understanding, you allow me to do whatever I want,” Matthew listed out first and foremost.
Hanbin nodded at Matthew's statement, a pout still visible on his lips.
“You eat all the cheese on the plate every time we dine out because you know I hate it”
Hanbin nodded again.
“You would give me all the blanket when we sleep”
Hanbin felt like crying because Matthew had listed all the kinds of things he had done in the past years of their relationship.
“You never say no to my nonsense”
A tear finally escaped Hanbin’s reddened eyes as he listened to Matthew’s answers, each one of them full of love and appreciation. Matthew looked up to Hanbin’s pinkish face with eyes as if the man in front of him hung up the stars.
“We never even fought with each other”
Matthew whispered as he took his small hand to Hanbin’s face, wiping the pear drops out of his soft cheeks.
“You’re my first love,” Matthew said in finality, his voice trembling as he let his palm sit on the side of Hanbin’s head.
On normal days, Matthew would pull his face in, kissing him slowly like they had all the time in this world, but today was the end of their time.
Hanbin nodded, still, his tears kept running despite all the praises coming out of Matthew's little beak. He swallowed his sobs and took the courage to speak, his voice came out in stutters, “Is that it? The reasons why you are divorcing me?”
Matthew nodded his head, his sparkling eyes still following Hanbin's every move.
“Then what should I do to change your mind? To stop you from divorcing me?” Hanbin despaired, he sounded so desperate that a mischievous smile showed on Matthew’s scheming face.
“Hyong, if you could…”

“Fuck Seok Matthew! I don’t know if you’re into this,” Hanbin cursed as he choked Matthew’s neck. The younger’s face beneath him was red, his breaths stuttered as a cough
They had been going for a few rounds and Matthew was red all over his body, still, Hanbin didn’t know if it was enough. His wrists were sore from the cuff from earlier round and his skin had Hanbin’s palm prints printed like he was a patterned silk.
Hanbin watched Matthew walk out of the bathroom. Last night went by in a blink, and Matthew was right in front of him, wearing clean clothes and a fresh look, like everything that had happened before was just a dream.
Hanbin stood up from the bed as Matthew went to the closet with his already packed baggage.
“Was last night not enough for us not to get divorced?” Hanbin asked after Matthew took his clothes and pushed them into the small bag connected to his luggage.
“No, we're still divorcing, hyung.” Matthew’s voice was grief-filled. He didn’t even glance at Hanbin as he walked out, a signed paper in his hand.
Hanbin’s eyes stayed on the door as Matthew’s silhouette faded from his sight. His husband is now gone, with his heart, packed into that small bag with the dirty clothes he torn to pieces last night.
