Spider-Man Kiss

Summary:

Pitaya and Warduke have finished setting up their new training area, and decide to spend some time trying it out. As usual, Pitaya can't help but be fond of his friend. But could it be that his friend is somewhat fond of him as well?

Work Text:

The two had turned the empty playhouse into a training room of sorts. It had been too long since Pitaya had properly practiced his acrobatics, so he was excited to have a space to play around in. Warduke’s side was of course more strength based, giving him somewhere to keep bulkier equipment. It took some time to make sure everything was securely installed so that neither of them would come crashing down to the floor, whether it be from a weak pull up bar or a not-so-tightrope, but eventually they stepped back and took the room in.

Pitaya giggled and did a bunch of excited little steps in place before launching himself excitedly at a bar. Warduke shook his head slightly and approached his set of weights. The two got to work trying things out in comfortable silence, occasionally broken by Tai’s delighted sounds as he used something he hadn't had access to in forever, like an aerial hoop, or his laughter whenever he did something silly and was patiently waiting for Warduke to have a second to see. If the tiefling also took a moment now and then to quietly appreciate how dedicated the other was, well, he was sure Warduke wouldn't mind. Last time they’d been home, the sound of his hammer hitting the anvil would loudly betray him whenever he got distracted, but it didn't seem to make Warduke stop working out around the forge.

As it eventually started to feel like a good time to bring the session to an end, Pitaya caught sight of Warduke standing up and stretching. He made his way to a nearby bar and positioned himself so that he was sitting upside down on it. It was one of his favorite goofy poses, and now he could do it without waiting for the next chair adhered to a ceiling. The odds of coming across a second upside down room probably weren't that great.

He grinned at the other, who stopped to regard him. After a moment he burst into giggles.

Warduke tilted his head.

“C’mere, we’re kinda the same height!” Tai explained, and as Warduke approached their faces did end up at about the same level. Tai leaned forward to place a kiss on the forehead of Wardukes helmet, just to be silly and cute, though the angle made it a little hard to pull off. He pulled back with a slight pout. “Aw, that didn't work as well as I thought it would,” he laughed nervously, hoping he didn't overstep any boundaries. He was trying to slowly feel them out, seeing what the other was and wasn't okay with.

Pitaya stilled when Warduke lifted his helmet a little, exposing his scarred lips. His eyes locked onto them, and they both paused to feel out the situation. After a moment he shifted his weight to add one of his hands on top of Warduke’s to guide him in the right direction as he blindly inched forwards. They met in the middle with a quick kiss, the angle better this time. Warduke lowered his helmet back in place to judge Pitaya's expression, and he was sure he must be much pinker than usual.

“Oh,” he squeaked, smiling. “I didn't think you’d- oh.”

Problem? Warduke signed.

“Not at all!” Tai answered, his voice still a bit high pitched. He laughed softly, taking a moment to calm down. “But you know that.”

When he made Warduke the armor, he had done it as a sort of silent pledge of devotion to him. He never expected any of that feeling to be returned, he just wanted Warduke to be aware. To let him know that his goal was to always be by his side, and to make sure that at the end of every battle, he rested in a bed and not a grave. He was perfectly happy doing that platonically, as long as Warduke wasn't uncomfortable with his obvious feelings. Warduke had accepted the armor, had even given up his old helmet, so it seemed safe to assume he wasn't uncomfortable with Pitaya's doting. But having any sort of affection returned was… a very nice unexpected bonus. He didn't know exactly what this meant for them, but he had a feeling he’d like it either way.

“Um… I might need a little help down,” he admitted, feeling a little too mushy to be hanging upside down in the air. Warduke huffed a small laugh, moving to catch and safely lower him to the ground.

As they came inside for dinner, the others must have attributed the extra pep in his step to his general nature, but he was willing to bet Warduke was watching him, a little amused.
