Hushed affections

Summary:

Furina reassures Arlecchino.

Work Text:

Furina reached out and cupped the Knave’s face in her hands, revering it as if the Knave were her world. She thumbed away the steady stream of tears that spilt from the woman’s eyes and pressed their foreheads together, refusing to look away from the harbinger for even a second. Arlecchino chuckled, the low timbre of her voice drawing out a soft, dimpled smile. The former Archon watched the Knave with rapt attention, occasionally brushing the woman's hair out of her face.

Eventually, when all of the tears subsided, Furina closed the, albeit, small distance between the two and placed a particularly soft, chaste kiss on Arlecchino’s lips. The Knave leaned closer, melting into the sensation. She groaned softly into the former Archon’s mouth as the smaller woman began tracing light circles behind the Knave’s ears with her thumbs. Furina smiled against Arlecchino’s lips. Her heart swelled at the feeling of Arlecchino’s hands encircling her waist in a possessive, though sweet entanglement.

Slowly, Furina pried herself away from Arlecchino’s lips and resumed pressing their foreheads together. There would certainly be a red blotch there later, but neither of them minded. “I’ll take care of you,” Furina said almost absentmindedly, the admission surprising the Knave and herself, just a touch. Arlecchino’s face fell back to that cold, neutral expression she had become quite synonymous with, sighing deeply.

“It's rotten work.” Furina merely smiled fondly as she pressed another kiss against the Knave’s lips. Lasting much longer than the one prior, Furina poured all of her unspoken affection and love for the women in front of her into the kiss, letting it melt deliciously against the Knave’s lips as she sought to soak her in it. Minutes passed, and eventually the two parted with a quiet pop that made even Arlecchino flush.

“Not to me,” Furina said with a comforting smile, her words pulling the Knave’s attention back to her. She noted the absolutely precious expression on her face and filed it away for later. “Not if it's you.”
