Work Text:
Reos hand trembled over his phone as he sat on the floor of the gym.
Why couldn’t he do it? Was he really that scared of losing him again? Nagi was already gone and there was nothing Reo could do to change that.
So why was he shaking so damn much?
Uhg this is such a pain Reo thinks, letting his phone slip from his hand and onto his lap. He needs to do this. It’s the only way forward. He has to improve and he can’t do that if he's focusing on that stupid fallen genius the whole time.
He picks up his phone again and just stares.
Reo: Nagi, where are you? We’re outside your apartment
Nagi: do I really have to go it’s such a pain
Reo: Alr that’s it, I’m coming up
He lazily scrolls back through their texts. There weren’t very many, as they were together most of the time, but he couldn’t help but notice how pathetic he was. Always so reliant on Nagi that he couldn’t do anything on his own. He could grow, couldn't evolve.
And that’s still true. Reo thinks to himself. You have to let him go or else you’ll never improve.
Reo: Nagi, where have you been? You haven’t been at school in two days
Reo: I swear if your skipping again
Nagi: sick
Reo: Oh. Well, do you want me to bring you some soup? We have this one chef that makes the best tomato soup I swear it’s like magic
Nagi: sure
Nagi: but can you stay
Nagi: it’s lonely without you
Tisk. Reo glares down at the screen, eyes stinging. This is stupid. He should just get it over with. Doing this will only make it harder. He has to do it. He has to or else he won’t improve. Or else he’ll be stuck as his old self who couldn’t do anything without Nagi. This is the only way forward.
So why is he still shaking?
Hot, wet tears threaten to fall from his eyes as he wipes them away, hand tightening around his phone.
Fuck. He thought he was past this. Wasting time over stupid things like this. He’s already shed to many tears over him. He refuses to cry anymore.
I won’t turn back. I won’t go back to being weak. Not ever again.
He lifts his hand again, still trembling. But this time, he doesn't stop himself as he presses the red text on his screen.
I’m so sorry, treasure, forgive me.
Blocked caller.
