This is it, huh?
End of the fucking line.
Nam-gyu heard the church bells as soon as he clicked open the cross with shaky hands. Heard the screams of the damned and the choir of the angels when he was greeted by fucking nothing. Not even a crumb of a pill. He wasn’t particularly religious, but felt a slight flicker of something mean and bitter towards every single deity that could have possibly screwed him over.
Maybe Nam-gyu should’ve felt something more in the moment. Something else. Anger? Remorse? Perhaps a little embarrassment for begging like a dog in front of everyone? Begging for that worm of a man? But maybe it was a last kindness that Nam-gyu didn’t feel anything except for a soul-crushing numb that wracked his entire being.
A last mercy. One last gift.
It really was over. Over just like that? That quick? That...pathetic?
His life was nothing short of unremarkable. Some may describe it as a waste. Some might call it pitiful if they wanted to piss him off. But that doesn’t really matter now, does it? Nam-gyu had seconds to his name, the childish song going warped around the edges as the rope slowly descended into Nam-gyu's view.
Nam-gyu didn’t bother to try to jump again. He couldn’t. The high was bleeding out of him, leaving him a sober, cold corpse.
How despicable.
How pathetic.
People say that before you die, life flashes before your eyes. A moment of regret. Nostalgia. Peace if you’re lucky to find it.
He never was though.
Instead, hell happened to be in the colour of purple.
“Nam-su. You still hungry? Fucking junkie.” Thanos smiled, voice gurgling with wet blood and amusement. Maybe a little fond if Nam-gyu wanted to delude himself in his final moments.
…
Yeah. Thanos’s voice sounded fond. Nam-gyu had nothing to lose.
“Come on, let’s get out of here. This place fucking blows. Dunno why we bothered to stick around this long.” Thanos flashed his blood stained teeth, extending his hand.
Nam-gyu was so tired and cold. He didn’t care who took him away from this awful place. Thanos. Maybe the devil himself. He just wanted to leave.
He reached a shaky hand out, barely even stretching all the way before feeling the air brushing past him in teasing caresses.
Nam-gyu could still see purple as he fell.
After a moment, he saw nothing at all.
