Chapter Text
The wind blew his hair into his face, making him want to close his eyes, so he did. He didn't dare to move even an inch yet, he let the wind play with his hair as he was standing. His mind clear and his body rather calm, however the same couldn't be said about the ocean beneath his feet, he stood on a pretty high cliff with an ocean at the very bottom.
It was especially windy today, which meant the waves were also high and scary-looking, making the ocean look angry and full of pent up rage. But even through all of this, the ocean remained beautiful in colors - blue and also turquoise in some spots. It won't be like that for a long time though, the waves are messing it up, mixing mud and sand into it.
Chills ran down his spine because of the cold wind blowing past him and he opened my eyes. His gaze immediately went beneath him, looking at the ocean. He hate to admit it, but the longer he stare into the ocean, the uglier it becomes with all the mud and stuff mixing into it.
He pulled myself together and dared to make a small step forward. But as his foot touched the ground, small particles of the cliff fell down, into the water. He bet that if he went even further, the cliff would absolutely destroy itself, leaving only a mess of rocks out of itself. He didn't want to be the one to do that, which made him stop his movement and he remained in place, only staring down, almost zoning out.
...
"Come to me Dazai, let all your fear and troubles behind, soon it will be all over, don't be scared" a woman standing infront of him, her beautiful long brown hair, slightly wavy and messy from the blowing wind, said to him. Her long dress was the same color as her hair, even her eyes were brown, however the sunlight made them look almost golden to the human eye.
He saw her walking even further, now being only two steps, from the end of the cliff. His heart started beating fast, when he saw her taking those steps. Then she stopped, looking back for the last time. "Why are you just standing there? Mom told you something, didn't she?" her voice sounded a little more demanding.
"Mom I'm cold, the wind is cold" he said, his voice trembling, both the cold and from his now running tears. He looked at her with his red watery eyes.
The woman looked back at him, making eye contact with him. She saw her son crying, but her eyes remained the same soulless eyes, that she has always had.
...
"AHHHH FUCKING HELL!!!" a loud scream pulled him back to reality, he fastly turned back, eyes all over the place, looking for the culprit of the swearing, however as he turned back he stumbled on his own feet, falling backwards like he was just casually sitting down. He heard the rocks under him crack and fall down, only to realize he was falling down along with them.
Panic immediately took over him and his breathing became unbelievably unsteady, his eyes widening at the sight infront of him, or much rather above him.
The sight of the cliff, much smaller, now that the rocks at the very front fell down, felt unreal, the way it was just getting smaller and further and further away, the lower he fell. He moved his gaze to the sky, heaven's ocean, he felt how strange it is that the sky is still the same as before, all calm, while the cliff is falling apart and him...he's dying.
Maybe after all of this he'll go to h-
His mind was cut off as he felt his back hitting something cold, oh, it's the ocean. The ocean will take him soon, his muscles tightened as his panicking got worse and his eyes were now fully opened. This was his intention when he drove to the cliff, so why doesn't he feel good? Why doesn't he feel like leaving the world right now?
The scream he heard previously. That fucking scream. He'll despise that person till his death, he hates that person from his own guts, that's what his mind is telling him, so what's the reason of the unbearable guilt in his heart?
He tried to swim up, but the water was already swallowing him, not letting him move else than down. He's sure that he'll hit the rock bottom soon, well..., mentally he already did...
He didn't know why, but the water didn't feel cold no more, he could even say it was quite comfortable. The cliff was a high one, he'll be definitely falling down for a few more seconds or minutes. It doesn't matter anymore, he'll be gone soon, leaving nothing behind. The water kept rushing past him. He closed his eyes.
...
He shot his eyes wide open when he felt something touching his lips. He straightened his back and sat up, with a weird feeling in his stomach as well as in his throat and he started coughing. His hands went to his throat, holding it and after a second to his chest, hitting it to get the...oh, yea the water out. He was drowning, how is he alive?
Finally he looked up, infront of him sat a guy with a quite worried look, his long ginger hair falling over his shoulders, it seemed like he went into the water, he was all wet, parts of his shorter hair pieces were sticking to his face. He also noticed a leather collar around his neck, he thought he almost looked like a dog with it.
Then he realized something and touched his lips.
"Did you fucking kiss me?" he growled at him, making him cough again.
"What? I gave you CPR you dumbass, why the fuck would I randomly kiss someone that just almost drowned?" he snapped back him in a agressive tone and his worried look was now gone for good.
"Oh..," he continued after his coughing session and paused, "did you get me out of the water?" he asked after a short break.
"No, Poseidon looked at you with pity and told the waves to get you out" he said with a straight face, rubbing the space between his eyebrows.
"Won't you thank me? I saved your life, you know" he added.
"Oh yea, thank you, I never told anybody to save me though..." the survivor of the drowning replied, whispering the last part to himself.
"Huh? What did you say, I didn't hear you"
"Nothing, I thanked you"
"No, after that"
"I didn't say anything"
"Don't play with me fucker, I know you whispered something" the orange haired one said now with clear anger, his temper must be really short, Dazai thought to himself.
"I didn't"
"You damn suicidal, I probably won't get anything out of you, I give up" he sighed and sat with his legs criss-crossed, putting his elbow on one of the legs and leaning his chin onto it.
"I wasn't suicidal, I didn't fall because I wanted to commit suicide" Dazai said quite defensively., knowing that it was his original intention to jump.
"Then why'd you fall, did you stumble on your own legs or what?" the other replied sarcastically. Dazai only looked at him and didn't say anything.
"Oh..uh sorry" an awkward silence accompanied this sentence.
