Virginity

Summary:

Del and Wayne try to figure out how to navigate sexual intimacy to... varying levels of success.

Work Text:

Del mentioned it first.

At a certain point she was pretty sure Wayne was never going to bring it up himself, even though she knew he had thought about it more than once, if the way his eyes lingered on her were anything to go off of.

“So are you ever gunna climb on top of me or what?” Del asked bluntly one day when she was studying and Wayne was reading his comics.

He took a long moment to look up from his Conan with his brows pinched together.

“What?”

“Do you not find me hot or somethin’?” She wondered, tapping her pencil against her textbook.

“No.” He shook his head immediately.

“No. You don't find me hot?” She questioned with a barely contained smile that he didn't notice.

He quickly shook his head again.

“No, I- yes.” He stumbled over himself to say.

Del finally let herself laugh and enjoyed seeing his shoulders relax as he understood she was just fucking with him again.

“So you do find me hot?”

“Yeah. A lot.” Wayne nodded.

“Then why haven't you tried to see me naked?”

“Do you want me to see you naked?”

“Do you want to see me naked?”

“Yeah. A lot.”

“Good, then make an effort to get my clothes off.” Del told him, turning back to her notebook.

Wayne stayed in his seat for a minute, just looking at her and processing what just happened. He started moving out of his seat towards her but Del spoke before he was fully standing.

“Not now, I gotta cram for a test, this professor is a fuckin’ jack wagon.”

She didn't even look up at him and Wayne slowly lowered back into his seat.

They were sitting in the living room. They had tried to start in their bedroom but it felt weird and like way too much pressure, so Del ordered Wayne to sit on the couch and he happily went.

He sat on the couch and she sat on the love seat. He was looking at his hands in his lap, fidgeting with them, she was chewing on her bottom lip and playing with her necklace. How the fuck did anyone get laid when it was so fucking awkward? Del thought back to her mom, she never seemed to have a problem with it, the boundless confidence made up for her lack of tits, at least that's what Donna would say.

Shs tried to channel her mother, taking a deep breath and sitting up straighter. She almost felt like she could do it… Then she looked at her Wayne and knew there was no way she could call him “hot stuff” and say she wanted to take his face for a ride. She huffed and deflated back into the cushions. Wayne noticed this and looked up. He only looked at Del for a few seconds before his eyes focused on his hands once more.

“Maybe we could… start with kissin’ and go from there.” He suggested.

“Not a bad plan.” Del nodded.

“Do you… want me to come over there?” He asked.

“Nah, it's fine. There's more space on the couch anyway.”

She got up and smoothed her shirt out as casually as she could as she went over to the couch. They had been through so much together, yet Del still felt like she was fumbling with her keys under a busted porch light in a storm as she sat beside him but still with enough space for another person to sit between them.

Del felt Wayne turn to her and shifted so she was fully facing him as well. There was some relief that he looked just as nervous as her. She reached her hand out and it was only when she held the back of his neck that he leaned in. Their lips connected and the soft sigh of contentment they both let out reminded them each how it should be. This shouldn’t be them wound up and nervous, they liked kissing each other, hell, they loved kissing each other. It was easy and felt like coming home. They moved closer to each other so their legs were pressed together; Del’s arms wrapped around Wayne as he rested one hand on her side and the other close to her knee.

The kiss was sweet and comfortable, something they were both used to. Del got a bit lost in the kiss, but when she did think more, she realized that Wayne wasn’t going to heat this up. He was content to keep kissing like this… or to just hug, or to snuggle, or even just to have Del’s legs over his lap. A wave rushed over her, it was crazy to be with someone who loved her so much, who loved even the little things, who was more than content, who was overjoyed to share every second with her no matter what they were doing.

That reminder helped turn her on even more, causing her to moan softly and move into his lap. Wayne let out a small noise that was swallowed into the kiss, his hands settled on her middle back as his cheeks heated up. It didn’t matter how many times they made out, whenever things heated up, he always got like this. Eventually he loosened up, but it took a little bit. Part of Del actually liked it, it was no secret she liked pushing his buttons, but it did something for her ego to be able to make him like this by doing something as simple as straddling him or kissing his neck.

She let her hands tangle in his soft hair, not worrying about her grip since she knew he could take it. He didn’t seem to be into hair pulling, but he didn’t hate it either and Del always needed something to grab onto, so he was more than happy to have his hair be her handles. He keened into her hands in his hair and she could feel him loosening up.

Wayne began heating the kiss up, going slow to make sure he wasn’t doing anything Del didn’t want. She seemed receptive to it though, which made him feel better. He slowly let his hands trail down from her back to her hips. She smirked and meant to press against his hands, but accidentally ended up grinding down on him. A soft, growl-like noise left him and his hold on her hips tightened. That turned her on in a way she wasn’t expecting, so she did it again, which earned her another flex of those strong hands. It was really a vicious cycle that they both loved.

Soft hands shifted from soft hair, down a strong neck, and then around to start unbuttoning a plaid shirt. Once it was open, Del let her hands slip inside, spreading out over the soft skin of his chest. She would always be surprised by how soft he was, his hands were rough and calloused but his neck and chest and the soft skin on the inside of his wrist always reminded her that he wasn’t just the badass who chomped her dickhead dad’s nose.

Del let her hands trail over his chest, mapping out the dips and curves of him. Her thumbs brushed over the line of his sternum and Wayne made that weird noise he made sometimes when they made out like this, it was only when Del did it again that she realized it was a noise of pleasure. A thrill went through her; knowing how good she was making him feel helped soothe the insecurities in her head she normally tried to ignore.

There was also the movement below that helped soothe her worry.

When she had thought about sex and stuff before, hearing or reading about feeling a man's… manhood had always disgusted her. Why would anyone want to feel that? Well now she knew, it was fucking hot was why.

Her hands pushed the shirt off of his shoulders and she felt his thumbs brushing the heated skin just under the hem of her shirt. Just that simple touch had her suppressing a full body shiver; her kisses got hotter, biting his bottom lip and caring less about if it really hurt.

Turns out she didn’t need to worry about that, because the sound Wayne let out was definitely of pleasure, no mistaking that. He leaned forward to help her get his shirt off his shoulders; fuck, having him pressed to her should not be allowed to feel this good.

Wayne’s hands gripped the hem of her shirt and Del nodded to give him permission. She could get addicted to the feeling of him smiling while kissing her. Just like everything he did, he went slow so she had as much chance as possible to stop if she wanted, not like she wanted to. His capable hands pulled her shirt up and up, uncovering the soft skin of her stomach, then the bottom of her rib case, just as it was passing her middle ribcage her breathing hitched and -

The front door to their apartment slammed open; Del launched herself away from him and Wayne pulled a pillow into his lap.

“Guess who aced their Econ final!” Trish exclaimed, stopping a few steps in to strike a pose.

Del looked at her with furrowed brows.

“You don't even take economics.”

Trish's smile fell and a truly bewildered look took over her face.

“What test did I take then?” She asked in a less boisterous tone.

Del just shrugged and her eyes moved to Jenny who came in behind Trish.

“Well I nailed my Chem lab. And I do take chem.” She chuckled.

Del took a deep breath to get herself under control as she got off of the couch to follow them into the kitchen where they all talked about their finals and plans for summer break. Wayne escaped into their bedroom to calm down.

They didn't have much chance to try again for the next few days. It left them both in this weird place of being awkward and also turned on whenever the other was around.

Del had a suspicion that Jenny or maybe Orlando had gotten into Wayne’s ear about “taking charge” or some shit; because one day when she was cooking them a frozen pizza for dinner, Wayne came up as she was checking her phone, picked her up, placed her on the counter, and kissed her breathless.

She had been surprised but turned on. Her arms and legs wound their way around him, holding him close as she kissed back heatedly. They managed to get his shirt off again and she was pretty sure she felt him starting to go to his knees, but then the oven timer went off and scared them both so bad that Del fell off the counter and Wayne bashed his head on a cabinet trying to save her.

They tried again when Jenny and Trish had given Orlando no choice in going to a party to get over the lab partner he'd been mooning over all year and had just found out was a lesbian in a polyamorous relationship with three women on campus.

They stayed in their bedroom this time which felt less daunting than the last time they tried. They actually got pretty far: they were both in their underwear, Wayne had a hickey the size of Texas already blossoming on his neck, and Del felt weak in the knees at the way he was kissing her body. But then her hand trailed down his body, he made a noise she couldn't quite decipher, and he was off the bed, disappearing into the bathroom before her hazy brain fully caught up.

Though they didn't talk about it, they were both wondering why this was so difficult. They wanted to have sex with each other… well… they wanted to do stuff with each other. The more they thought about having penetrative sex, the less sure they each were that that was something they were ready for.

Of course, that only made them worry more that the other was going to be upset with them. Wayne wanted Del to be happy and fulfilled in every single way possible. Del didn't want Wayne to think it was just him she didn't want inside her, but no words she could think of conveyed that sentiment without being super fucking weird.

Finally Wayne seemed to work up the courage to make a suggestion. He came into the kitchen since he knew Del was at the little table in the corner finishing up her Cantebury Tales essay that he was sure was already perfect.

She looked up when he entered and gave him a smile. He smiled back but quickly ducked his head as he went to the fridge, he wasn't really hungry so he started making Del a sandwich.

“I've been thinkin’ about the… stuff we're tryin’ to do.” He admitted as he carefully placed ham then cheese then turkey on the potato bread.

Wayne loved potato bread and Del said it was just fine but always ended up eating at least half of the loaf he bought, so every sandwich he made her he just used it.

Del blushed and nodded, though his back was still to her.

“Yeah, me too.” She told him. “Look, I know it's been wicked hard for us to figure out, but this shit takes time, ya know? Orlando's still a virgin, even though he lies about it. It's not a fuckin’ big deal.”

Del was definitely not using her brashness to cover up the anxiety she felt in her chest.

Wayne nodded as he listened to her, her words along with her blunt tone helping to calm him down a little bit. It was nice knowing she wasn't looking at this as some big failure on their parts… and Orlando was definitely still a virgin, no matter how many “teacher’s aides” he had “study sessions” with. Wayne put the other piece of bread on top and cut it diagonally twice so there were four triangular pieces before bringing the plate to the table.

Del had a fond smile when her favourite sandwich was placed in front of her by her favourite person. She gave him a look that made him smile in return and that she knew was “thanks” enough before starting to eat.

“Well, I was thinking about it and I thought, that I… I could…” Wayne trailed off but made a vague motion with his hand towards her.

Del raised her brow but didn't try to assist him because she genuinely wasn't sure what the end of that sentence was going to be. She just kept chewing her sandwich while waiting for him to make sense.

“Go down on you, or whatever.” He finally finished, unable to meet her eye.

She quickly swallowed to stop from choking, placing the uneaten piece of sandwich down on the plate.

“You wanna go down on me?” She asked with a laugh to cover up the butterflies in her stomach, shifting in her seat to throw her arm over the back of it.

Wayne shrugged as he looked around, hands shoved deep into his pockets.

“If you want me to.”

Del shrugged and nodded as she looked down at her sandwich. She picked at the edges where he had already removed the crush.

“Yeah, sure.” She shrugged, tone much more casual than she really felt.

Wayne turned towards the door so she wouldn't see his elated smile, but then realized he should probably say something and turned back.

“Cool.”

“Cool.” She repeated.

Wayne gave a sort of partial bow that had him blushing more and Del bit her lip with her next bite of sandwich. Wayne hurried out of the kitchen as Del soothed her lip.

Friday night brought another party and another attempt to get Orlando some action and another chance for Del and Wayne to have the house to themselves.

Del spent too much time in the bathroom and perhaps got herself a bit too clean. She put on a lingerie set Trish had talked her into buying months ago and turned this way and that in the mirror to look herself over. It did hug her well and she was glad she went with the purple instead of pink. It looked more mature on her than the pink had. She did another spin and fluffed her hair before taking a deep breath and opening the door.

She didn't even make it a full step out of the bathroom.

She saw Wayne sitting on the bed and was immediately stepping back into the bathroom while slamming the door closed. Wayne looked up at the noise but didn't want to rush Del so he didn't say anything, though he did pay more attention now.

“What were you thinkin’, you fucking idiot?” Del asked her reflection as she paced in front of the sink. “You can't go out there like this, like some type of “Hello Mister President” type broad. I don't got the tits for this, I don't got the ass for this.”

She shook her head at herself and quickly pulled the soft fabric off her body. When she was back in her blue bike shorts and one of Wayne’s shirts that she claimed to only wear because she was low on laundry, even if it was the day after she'd done her laundry, she looked at herself again and finally felt like she could breathe.

It was much less sexy but it felt so much more like her. Part of her worried Wayne wouldn't find her hot and would want to back out, but she left the bathroom before those thoughts could get too loud.

Wayne's eyes were on her the second she stepped out and she gave him a shy smile. His eyes looked over her body, clearly wanting to linger but not wanting to make her uncomfortable.

“You look really hot.” He told her.

Del laughed and shook her head.

“Shut up.”

“I mean it.” Wayne said, getting off the bed. “You look really, really hot. Like sexy hot.”

Del felt herself blushing and opened her mouth to disagree with him again, but then Wayne was picking her up in his strong arms and she had to close her mouth to stop a yelp from escaping.

“I'm so fuckin’ lucky.” He said quietly, the end of his sentence partially muted as he connected their lips.

Del moaned softly, allowing herself to melt into him as she wrapped around him like a koala. His arms went under her butt to keep her up as he turned them around. It was definitely unfair how hot it was that Wayne could carry Del like it was basically nothing. She knew he did all his demo work, but come on , it just wasn't fair he could be so casually hot.

Wayne lowered Del onto the bed and slowly trailed his kisses from her lips to her jaw, down her neck, over the fabric of his shirt that he would vehemently argue looked a thousand times better on her, and down her thigh. His hands traveled up under the shirt to settle on the top of the shorts. He stopped there and looked at her.

“Yeah, I want you to.” She nodded, already breathless.

She couldn't even be embarrassed about it, not with the way Wayne was looking at her. He pulled down the shorts and Del had to lay back because his face was going to make her cum… and not in the intended way.

Saturday morning, Wayne woke up to his alarm and shut it off as quickly as he could. He hurriedly looked to the side and was relieved that Del was still asleep. He got out of bed, making sure to keep the blankets tucked around her, then got ready for the day.

Once dressed, he went to the kitchen to make breakfast for everyone like he usually did. He was unable to stop himself from thinking about the night before. Wayne’s jaw was a little sore and he could still feel Del’s hands in his hair, both of which made him glad his black jeans were loose on him. He was starting to understand the whole hair pulling thing.

He cooked basically on autopilot, only realizing when he felt a rather aggressive pat on the back. He jumped slightly and looked to the side. It was Jenny with a wicked smirk on her lips that still had lipstick in the cracks since she couldn't have been bothered to take it off correctly when she got in.

“Del’s not the only one who thinks you're a fucking godsend.” She stated which made Wayne furrow his brows.

“What?”

“Breakfast.” She said, going to the table where he had apparently already set out everything. “I'd, like, literally fucking die if I had to try to make breakfast right now. We drank sooo much last night.”

“Oh, uh, yeah.” He nodded.

“Why? What did you think I was talking about?” She asked and Wayne didn't trust that look on her face, no matter how innocent her voice was trying to be.

Wayne blushed and quickly ducked his head into the fridge under the guise of looking for orange juice. Soon after he heard steps coming down the stairs and was relieved when he heard Del and her accent wishing them a good morning. He had wanted to bring her breakfast in bed but having a shield against Jenny and the things she said he didn't always understand was much needed.

He brought the orange juice back to the table and poured Del a glass before taking the cup Jenny held out to fill.

“So, what's on the agenda for the day?” Jenny wondered, knowing smile aimed at Del now.

Del blushed slightly and shrugged as she took a long drink.

“Wayne and me are goin’ to that comic book shop with the good coffee that all have nerd names.” She told her friend.

“That sounds fun.” Trish wore a matching smile to her girlfriend as she joined them at the table.

Wayne gave Del and then her a mug of coffee, each made how the women liked it.

“Thank you, Wayne.” Trish smiled.

He also didn't trust the look on her face. He haphazardly filled a plate with food and grabbed another mug of coffee.

“Orlando.” He explained, holding them up before hurrying upstairs.

“Smart, that boy is wrecked.” Trish called after him.

“Speaking of wrecked .” Jenny said as she leaned closer to Del.

Trish joined her immediately so Del had no way to look that was away from their prying eyes. She still tried though, she took a long drink of her coffee and nodded.

“Good coffee.”

“I love the way she says “coffee”.” Jenny giggled.

She was about to tell Del to say it again but Trish hit her hand and she remembered the mission.

“Y'know, Trish. When we came in at three AM, it sounded like Del and Wayne were still awake.”

“It certainly did, Jenny.” Trish nodded. “More than awake, really. It sounded like they were trying to lead a worship revival.”

“Oh definitely, with all the “Oh god"s floating around.”

Del blushed so hard she thought her face might actually be on fire.

“If I tell you, will you shut the fuck up?” She asked them with clenched teeth as she looked around to make sure Wayne or Orlando hadn't walked in.

“For now.” Trish nodded.

Del knew that was the best she was going to get so she sighed.

“He went down on me and it was really amazing, ok?”

“Finally!” Jenny exclaimed, throwing her hands up.

“We were wondering when you two were finally going to figure out how to bone.” Trish laughed. “We thought we'd have to endure the trenches of straight porn to get you guys a guide on how to get the P into the V.”

Del's face controlled into disgust and she shook her head.

“No P's went into any V's, alright?” She asked them before groaning. “I'm never fuckin’ sayin’ that again.”

The couple stopped and looked at each other before turning to Del again.

“Ok, wait, so when you said he went down on you. That's all you guys did all night?” Trish asked. “From, like when we left to after we got back?”

“I mean, yeah. We weren't really checking the time, but it started when youse were gone and went until we fell asleep, not sure when.” Del shrugged.

She was confused by the literal jaw drops the two women did.

“I think he's got you beat, babe.” Trish commented, glancing over at Jenny.

“Wait, so, just muff diving?” Jenny asked. “No…?”

She mimed going down on a cock and Del’s nose scrunched as she shook her head.

“No…?” Trish mimed a hand job and Del shook her head again. “Just him saying hello to your kitty?”

“For hours?” Jenny needed to clarify.

“Yeah.” Del shrugged.

She didn't really get their shock but she guessed there was something unusual about that.

“We didn't really know when it was supposed to end.” Del admitted. “Each time he asked if it was ok, and when I couldn't find enough of my brain to say “yes”, he cleaned us up, tucked me in, and we went to bed.”

“Aw.” Jenny and Trish said together, hands going over their hearts.

They sat back in their seats and Del finally let herself relax a little. She picked up her mug again, it really was very good coffee.

“I told you he'd be a service top.” Jenny told her girlfriend, nearly causing coffee to come out Del's nose.

“I think that would make him more of a service bottom, though.” Trish commented, ignoring Del's plight.

The two kept arguing about the definition of a service top versus service bottom. Del was just thankful Wayne seemed to have made peace with not understanding a lot of what the duo said because when he came back they didn't stop their disagreement. He just sat next to Del and ate his own breakfast.

The trip to the comic book store ended up being a family activity. Jenny and Trish had been working their way through the drink menu and Orlando said he deserved some anime titties after figuring out why Vegas Bombs and Lemon Drops weren't served in the same glass. The shop was easy walking distance so after breakfast was cleaned up, they all dressed and headed out.

Trish and Jenny walked first, swinging their connected arms in a way that was probably a safety hazard. Orlando was right behind them, trying not to get hit. Del and Wayne brought it the rear.

It was a nice morning, a little cold. Not Brockton cold, but being in Georgia they didn't think they'd ever feel that kind of cold again, at least without some travel. They enjoyed their morning walks whenever they had them, a little reminder of home without all the trauma actually remembering it brought.

“Tag!” Jenny exclaimed suddenly, hitting Orlando in the chest before running away.

“I'm not playing tag with you.” Orlando said in a bewildered tone.

“Good, stay it then.” Trish told him playfully before running off to catch her girlfriend.

“I ain't playin’ tag wi‘chu.” He yelled after them.

The women just laughed and he groaned before taking off at a sprint after them. Del laughed and could see Wayne smile out of the corner of her eye.

She wasn't sure what came over her, but she got a thought in her head and before she knew it, it was jumping out of her mouth.

“I’m not gunna suck your dick or nothin’.” Del informed him defensively as they walked holding hands together.

“Ok.” Wayne told her simply.

“And if that’s going to make you not want to do… what you did last night, then just say so now.”

Del knew she was more aggressive than she really needed to be, but she had heard more than a couple crying girls bemoaning their stupid boyfriends only wanting head and only giving it to get something in return. She knew Wayne wasn’t like that… or at least hoped he wasn’t; but maybe this was the time he’d finally let her down. Maybe this was when she found out he was like all the other guys.

“It doesn’t.” Wayne shook his head. “I… liked doin’ it. Want to do it more, if you want.”

Del squinted up into the sun to try to mask her smile.

“Don’t expect a fucking medal or some shit.” She informed him when she got herself under control.

“I won’t… ‘s long as I can keep seein’ you like that.”

Del looked over at him but Wayne was staring very intently at the ground. She finally let herself give a small smile and bumped her shoulder against his.

Maybe they weren't ready for full sex just yet, and that was fine. If they were both enjoying what they did, what the fuck did it matter?
