“Okay okay okay…close your eyes” Yeosang encouraged as he looked at you, fingertips pressed against his chin, expecting you to do so. You shifted in your seat at the cafe,
“Yeosang, this is the fourth time you ask me to do it!” you pouted excitedly, “ What is it?” You whined enthusiastically in desperation, with eyes shut.
You loved surprises but you could easily get frustrated. Yeosang knew this and boy, he enjoyed teasing you like this. He had done this three times already, and each time you opened your eyes he showered you with tiny details that he knew you loved so much: a keychain with a boba tea cup that had you so mesmerized that time you were at the mall, a necklace with tiny glass fruit charms (that you immediately put on), and a small Hello Kitty pencil bag with all the same cute stationery.
He took out a hard candy lollipop and placed it in front of you. He contained his emotion when you reacted to the sound of the wrapper over the table. He knew you’d go crazy over this. When you opened your eyes, you gasped loud enough to startle the customers behind you “Yeosang! How? wha-who did-Where did you get this? I thought they were discontinued!” you immediately pulled the wrap and put it in your mouth. “mhhh just as I remember!” Yeosang grinned proud and lowered his gaze. “I have a guy who knows a guy, you know… but hey there’s more!” You squinted at him, smooching the candy out of your mouth “let me guess...”
“Yup, he he, close your eyes again.”
“One more time? okay!” you closed your eyes expecting another present or anything on your extended palm. Yeosang took a deep breath, his hands trembled, already drenched in sweat. The tension in his stomach grew tighter as he moved in his seat. You looked so beautiful, so perfect that he cursed himself for not having been able to do the most natural thing in a relationship: kiss. What if you didn’t like it? What if it was not what you expected? The pressure of it made him shake in anticipation. This would have been your second date as “official” couple. Before that, you and Yeosang had been the closest and best friends, but one day, a look in each other's eyes was enough to reveal your true feelings for each other. But the moment was ruined by your other friends in common, who gave Yeosang just the chance to express his feelings towards you.
The first date was something short and fun, but neither did the first step. And even when he gave you space and respected your boundaries, he wanted so badly to hold you in his arms and kiss you deeply, urgently, like in those 1940’s golden era films. He wanted this to be perfect. He was taking longer than what you expected. You resisted the urge to open your eyes, you didn’t want to ruin the surprise. You sensed him closer to you, his cologne and the smell of his fabric softener mixed up into your nostrils.
what is he going to d- ?
You felt his lips firmly pressed to yours. For a moment you froze, not sure of what to do. You barely parted your lips and he timidly ran the tip of his tongue over your bottom lip, tasting in it the candy he got for you. As he exhaled you breathed him in, his scent and warmth seeped into your lungs with a tenderness only matched with the one of his lips. “Mhh…blueberry” he whispered on your lips. Goosebumps covered your arms and that very peculiar warmth pooling at the base of your belly. You kept your eyes closed, pondering on what had actually happened. You had been waiting for this moment for a long time, you had wanted so bad to throw your arms around his neck and pull him in a desperate passionate kiss, but what if you had misread Yeosang’s mixed signals for ‘he did not want his personal space to be invaded.’? What if you were “too much” for a serene, composed man like him?
“Y/N...? Please say something, you’re killing me!” He whined. You opened your eyes, his face mere inches away. You launched and pulled him from the nape into a deeper kiss. He tasted like strawberry cake, the one he had finished a few moments ago. Now both your lips and tongues danced more freely, not caring about the curious looks of the customers around you. Neither seemed to have enough of each other. After some minutes, you broke the kiss, and both of you burst in giggles, panting for air.
“Did you like it?” he whispered, his thumb brushing your cheekbone, you nodded.
“Why wouldn’t I?” you whispered back as you noticed Yeosang’s cheeks turning red.
You rested your palm over his chest and you felt his heart throb at an alarming rhythm. “Oh my goodness, you’re racing!” You cried. The vein in his neck bulged with every beat, his heart could have as well leaped out of his chest. Yeosang had a grin from ear to ear, eyes dreamily lost in the blue of the sky still riding down a high better than any drug. “Were you nervous?” you tapped right where his heart was. “...of kissing me for the first time?” Yeosang replied with a nod, slowly blinking with eyes lost in a blissful state. “Aww, babe!” you pecked him again, but he was floating to a different dimension “I’m sorry, I didn’t know!”
“Don’t be” he hummed, “I’m okay now” he stroked the top your head, guiding you onto his chest for a warm hug. “We should do this more often”
