Chapter Text
Deku wasn't a stupid boy. Maybe he wasn't strong like Todoroki, or social like Uraraka, but he could observe. So after getting All for One, he began to notice... things.
Weird things that led to one terrifying, horrifying, emotionally-scarring conclusion:
All might gave him One for All so he could date his mom.
Let's rewind...
The day had been perfectly normal—well, as normal as it could be.
Deku had just finished one of All Might’s bone-shattering obstacle courses. He lay on the ground, winded, smiling like an idiot. “T-thank you, All Might! I feel stronger already!”
All Might grinned, towering above him like the Statue of Liberty with bigger muscles and way more emotional baggage. “Excellent effort, young Midoriya! Now, how about we head to your place for dinner?”
Deku blinked. “Huh?”
All Might coughed. “I-I mean, I’d love to… speak with your mother. About your progress.”
That seemed fair. Weirdly formal, but fair. So Deku shrugged, blood still dripping from his nose, and agreed.
Mistake number one.
When they walked in, Inko Midoriya was already bustling around the kitchen in her usual frilly apron of doom. “Izuku! I didn’t know you were bringing someone—oh! All Might! What an honor!”
And then she bowed. She bowed. And smiled. And blushed.
All Might smiled back. And also blushed.
Deku was too busy imagining new training routines to notice the red flags slowly lining up to strangle him. He just mumbled something about homework and began furiously writing in his hero analysis notebook.
Halfway through dinner, he looked up.
All Might was feeding his mother shrimp.
With chopsticks.
In slow motion.
“Say ahh~”
Deku dropped his pen. “WHAT THE—?!”
“Oh Izuku,” Inko said, laughing lightly, “Toshinori-kun insisted on helping me cook tonight! Isn’t he sweet?”
“Toshi—what now?!”
All Might cleared his throat. “Young Midoriya, I... have great respect for your mother. She’s a strong woman. Kind. Supportive. And her tempura is incredible.”
He winked.
He winked.
Deku passed out.
It took a few weeks for the pieces to come together. But once they did, it was like staring into the face of God and realizing He was dating your mom.
Late at night, Deku laid in bed, eyes wide, notebook open on his lap. The pages were covered in timelines, red strings taped between photos, bold underlined words like:
QUIRK TRANSFER = MOM ACCESS?
SUSPICIOUS SHRIMP INCIDENT.
"I see potential in you" = CODE FOR DINNER INVITE??
He circled a phrase over and over again:
“You can be a hero.”
But what if he meant:
“You can be my son-in-law”?
“No,” Deku whispered to himself, sweating. “No. He wouldn’t. He’s the Symbol of Peace. He wouldn’t manipulate me. Right? Right?!”
He turned to a fresh page.
Operation: Confirm Sinister Stepdad was born.
Deku decided to start small: follow All Might after training.
He wore sunglasses and a hoodie like he was trying to commit every crime and avoid paparazzi at the same time. He trailed behind at a respectful distance. Then All Might suddenly turned a corner and poof!—vanished.
Deku peeked cautiously around the corner.
All Might… was standing outside their apartment. With flowers.
He watched as All Might took a deep breath, rang the doorbell, and said, “Inko! My flower, I—uh—brought these flowers.”
Deku audibly gasped.
All Might blinked. “Did you hear that?”
Inko stepped outside, smiling shyly. “Probably a cat! Come in, I made food.”
Deku leaned against the wall, heart hammering. “I KNEW IT. I FREAKING KNEW IT.”
He couldn’t hold it in anymore. The next day, during training, Deku walked up to All Might, eyes wild, voice trembling.
“You… you used me.”
All Might blinked. “Pardon?”
“You gave me your quirk. You trained me. You said I was worthy. But really… it was all to get to her.”
All Might frowned. “Get to who?”
“MY MOM, YOU MANIPULATIVE MUSCLE DAD.”
There was a pause. A long, awkward, wind-blowing-through-the-anime-grass kind of pause.
Then All Might deflated into his scrawny form and put his hands up. “Okay. That’s… not entirely false.”
“WHAT?!”
“I mean, I didn’t plan to fall for her!” he said quickly. “But after meeting her, seeing how she raised you despite everything, how much love and strength she gave… I just… I couldn’t help it!”
“So the quirk—”
“Was 100% because I believed in you,” All Might said, full sincerity on his gaunt face. “But... the dinner invitations may have had ulterior motives.”
Deku screamed into his gloves.
Things got weird after that.
All Might didn’t stop visiting. In fact, he visited more.
There were family movie nights.
Joint grocery trips.
Once, Deku came home to find them wearing matching aprons that said “Plus Ultra Chef!” and “Plus Ultra Sous Chef!”
It broke him.
“Am I… am I your quirk baby and your bait?” he mumbled into his rice.
“Oh sweetie,” Inko said, patting his hand, “don’t be dramatic. Toshinori-kun likes you for you.”
“That makes it worse,” Deku muttered. “You’re supposed to hate my boyfriends, not be mine.”
All Might just gave him a thumbs-up. “Father-son bonding opportunity!”
Deku threw a chopstick at him.
One night, All Might sat Deku down.
“Son—”
“DON’T.”
“—Young Midoriya,” he corrected. “I want you to know, my feelings for your mother are real. I care about her deeply. This isn’t just a phase. It’s… important.”
Deku sighed, rubbing his temples. “You’re the Number One Hero. And my mentor. And maybe the best person I know.”
All Might smiled.
“That said, if I ever walk into the living room and see you kissing her again, I will develop a brand new quirk out of pure spite and blast myself into another dimension.”
All Might nodded solemnly. “Understood.”
“Also, I’m making Todoroki sleep over every night now. For backup.”
“Also understood.”
Eventually, Deku got used to it.
Sort of.
He made peace with the idea that his idol had basically become his step-dad-figure.
It helped that All Might was, well… All Might.
He supported Inko. Helped with chores. Once patched up Deku after training while singing Taylor Swift in falsetto. It was oddly healing.
In time, Deku even began to suspect he wasn’t just a pawn in a seduction plot—he was part of a weird, supportive, explosive family.
Sure, it was bizarre.
Yes, it was emotionally complex.
And okay, maybe he still flinched every time All Might said “your mother and I.”
But… when Inko smiled, and All Might looked at her like she was the sun, and they both looked at Deku with pride in their eyes…
He realized something else.
Maybe the real quirk he inherited… was love.
(And trauma. So much trauma.)
