Tightening the grip of the mug in his hands, Finn sighed tiredly. He could feel headache creeping in. Every muscle in his body was sore and sleep furthest thing on his mind, even though his body was screaming for it.
It was middle of the night and he was trying to relax after stressful evening. All he could do now was to wait Damian to come back. Damian had left not long ago to get them something to eat but being middle of the night, it was going to take some time to find place that would be open.
Earlier in the evening he and Damian had tag team match when evening had taken stressful turn. Damian was in the ring focusing on the opponent when Finn had started to feel disoriented, everything had gone blurry and head was spinning more and more by the second. Finn lowered his head to top of the ring post hoping spinning would ease. It hadn’t helped much but he knew better. It was no ordinary sickness, if you even can call it that. It was the Demon inside of him trying to get out. Bad timing, really bad timing. Rest of the match was now on his partner’s shoulders and yet Damian came to check on him as often as he could.
Next thing Finn could remember was being in their hotel room in the bed as Damian had protectively wrapped his arms around him, occasionally saying soothing yet encouraging words. All Finn could do as he fought against Demon was to hold his head, keep eyes shut tight, seek comfort from Damian’s body and words as inside of his head Demon was ordering to let him take the control.
Whenever Demon managed to come out bad things happened. Demon was powerful being, who did what it wanted and managed to out wrestle more people at the same time than normal person could in a good day. At times Finn wasn’t even aware of what was happening while Demon was in control. He had lost count long time ago of how many times he had woken up in sketchy places or in totally different city.
Opening door slowly incase if Finn had fallen asleep but knowing how restless the forced possession made other, it was very unlikely thing to happen. Stepping inside of the room soft smile spread to Damian’s lips as soon as he noticed Finn still standing in front of window with same cup of tea in his hand.
“Sorry Finn nothing was open. I had to get some greasy food as last option from the Grill.” Damian said as he lowered bag on to the table and started to set food on it.
Hearing sudden voice, Finn’s body tensed up to only relax after he realized who it was.
“You’re life saver.” Finn said as he sat down and took part of the food. It felt great to get some energy back in his body, even though it was middle of the night. If he had been on his own, most likely he wouldn’t have eaten anything till morning or with luck hotel would have night time service where he could have gotten something.
After eating they did their bedtime routine before getting into bed next to each other. Finn quite quickly snuggled against Damian still seeking comfort from the other. Demon hadn’t tried to possess him again, most likely also spent all the energy it had.
Finn still could feel every ache in his body and overall he felt sore after everything Demon had made his body go through. It also made him feel uneasy that he couldn’t remember what had happened during the match or between the arena and their hotel room.
Rubbing Finn’s arm, Damian asked. “What’s on your mind?”
Looking up Finn wondered. “Does it ever bother you that I can’t recall things what happened?”
Damian shook his head as no. “It doesn’t surprise me to be honest. You’re trying to concentrate on keeping Demon in control. I would be surprised if you managed to follow what happens during it.”
“Did we even win?”
“No but I’m going to make sure we get our chance for those tag titles. I will talk with Pearce next time we go to RAW.”
Finn instantly felt even worse for leaving his partner on his own. “Sorry, I left you handle everything on your own.” He wished he could say it wasn’t going to happen again, they both knew it was bound to happen again.
“Don’t worry about it.” Damian smiled softly. “Nothing interesting happened. I brought you here straight after the match.”
“I couldn’t do this without you, Damian. Demon would have won too many times.” It scared him to even think what Demon was going to do if he was let out. Destroy whole roster in backstage? Harm those he cared about? Make him disappear in some other city?
“Glad I could be a help.” Damian kissed top of Finn’s head feeling grateful of other’s words and held him even closer to his body. He was going to make sure at best of his abilities that Finn felt good every time this would happen.
