"What's with that look on your face?" Comes the question, and Namjoon startles out from his thinker position to stare impassively at two people who had just interrupted his very important train of thoughts.
"What look?" Namjoon knows he really shouldn't ask, because this isn't the first time he has heard of the question, so he knows very well the type of answer he'll get. It's usually a snark remark, a comment bodering real close to insult that will shatter Namjoon's fragile heart into little pieces(that's a lie, he's got too thick of a skin for the words to have their effect) but his friend lights up like a freaking bulb and Namjoon thinks maybe suffering a hit to his ego isn't that bad if he can bring up a smile like that.
"You looked like you ate too much iron-rich food and is now suffering from a really bad constipation" okay, so maybe Namjoon regrets taking the bait, but you can't exactly blame him for trying this time.
"Like you're trying real hard to squeeze out shit" Hoseok continues, uncaring even as the table beside theirs glares venomously at their foul language, "but your asshole is too small for that big load".
Namjoon sends his friends the best grimace he can, putting all his disgust into that one look and hoping that they will feel every ounce of regret through telepathy.
When Hoseok remains visibly unaffected while Yoongi completely unimpressed, Namjoon resorts to verbally expressing his thoughts.
"You guys need to rinse your mouths with soap or maybe bleach your tongues", Namjoon casually suggest.
"Nuh, I think you just need to drink more liquids", Yoongi follows up easily, and Namjoon wishes he had some kind of hearing aid to filter out all these unnecessary comments, "make your turd more watery and slippery you know?".
Okay, Namjoon pushes away the tray of fries that he was previously chomping on, complete loss of appetite right there.
Namjoon really really regrets taking the bait right now. He hides his face behind his palm, hoping that if he imagines hard enough, he'll suddenly be teleported into a plain field and far away from shame.
His hands successfully mimes his visibility, but he can't pretend that they're absent when he can feel the amused eyes on him and Hoseok's fucking smile passing through like gamma waves.
"I'm going to buy you two a whole container of toothpastes and mouth wash for your birthdays", Namjoon decides, but later changes his mind when he realises how far away those dates still are, "no wait, I'll give it to you for white day or labour day or something".
Any special occasion would do really. The faster he could have an excuse to make them clean their mouths, the sooner the earth will be saved from all that pollution.
"White day seems appropriate", Hoseok nods, not at all affected by Namjoon's blatant jab , "but I didn't give you anything for Valentines though? Maybe we could give you some laxatives as a belated present?".
Damn, that was a smart serve. Namjoon has to applaud Hoseok this round for that. There's a smirk on Yoongi's face that shows just how proud he was of his partner, and Namjoon has to throw in the white towel before it worsens. Tag-teams against him are the worst.
"Hoseok, you're hanging out with Yoongi hyung way too much", Namjoon sighs, stirring idly at his chocolate milkshake that now seems nowhere appealing after that conversation. He points the straw accusingly at the elder, "your mean is showing".
"I've always been a bit snarky though, don't you think?" Hoseok hums and both Yoongi and Namjoon nods in agreement.
The two of them have been blatantly attached at the hip for years, that had there been any influence, it'll already have sunk in so deep to the roots that separating them now would do no good at all.
Yoongi isn't actually the bad influence though, Namjoon muses, regardless of how prickly he was on the outside, Yoongi was no doubt a cotton ball on the inside.
Its funny, now that Namjoon thinks about it. That while Hoseok was usually seen as the nicer of the two, he was also actually the hidden "savage" whilst Yoongi was his perfect counterpart.
If anything, the both of them brought out hidden parts of the other, whether unknowingly or not, Namjoon isn't sure.
"So what are you guys doing here again, besides you know, slurring dirty stuffs at me and terrorising the patrons?".
Hoseok grins, eating the last of his untouched fries happily before he swallows it down with his left over milkshake.
"We finished our stuffs and no one was back at home" Hoseok shrugs. Ahh, no wonder.
"How'd you know I was here though?"
"Seokjin hyung told me you'd be here, so we came"
The words slip Namjoon's mouth before he has the chance to pull them back, but his self-preservation acts up enough to make him shift left just in case Hoseok spews out chocolate milk at him.
"How hard did you come?".
Hoseok, always one slower on the sexual innuendos, stares at him weirdly before he "ahh"s in realisation and very plainly continues sipping the drink. Yoongi doesn't even flinch at his comment, choosing to instead bat long lashes as he blinked at him. Huh, go figure.
There's a few seconds of silence between them, with only the sound of Hoseok slurping noisily at the end of the now-emptied cup, that makes Namjoon think that he's not going to get a reply.
Not a chance though.
Once Hoseok finishes the task of swallowing all that junk food in his mouth, he shares a quick glance with his partner and turns back his attention to Namjoon .
"With you Joonie, my dick wouldn't even twitch".
Like he said, savage.
-
"The fuck is up with that?" the owner of some obnoxious voice points at the white flower on his hair, "you trying to look pretty or some shit?".
Yoongi doesn't waste his time answering, barely even wants to move a single muscle to waste on this lowbred. He places a finger in to his ear, trying to plug the uncouth snorts from this pig in front of him. It doesn't work though, because he can still hear the grunting, absolutely disgusting.
He was actually just minding his own business, idling on the streets and waiting for his partner to come when this hideous person had suddenly approached him all of a sudden.
"How much?" the swine asks him, fat sausage lips pulling up into the ugliest expression, "come on, you're a whore right? I can pay good money for you".
Yoongi doesn't get with the logic behind that question, but then again, its always hard to understand stupid people.
He cringes when the pig tries to land a hand at him, stepping back to avoid having grubby hands make contact with his jacket.
The action pisses the pig off, and Yoongi wants to laugh out loud at how badly offended the guy looks.
"What? You think you're too good for me now?" The guy steps forward, and Yoongi makes a move for the gun in his back pocket, "you're just a fucking whore, a slut!".
Yoongi's skin pricks angrily at the verbal accusations, and he pulls out the gun swiftly when the pig makes another step forward.
"Fuck, what the fuck", the pig starts panicking and Yoongi steps back when the guy looks like he's going to start pissing all over himself. Gross.
"What do we have here?" Yoongi feels familiar hands wrap around his waist, and he leans back into Hoseok's warmth. The scent of pine overtakes his senses and he feels the previous irritation slowly bubble away into nothing.
The ugly piece of shit apparently stupidly assumes that Hoseok was Yoongi's pimp or dealer, and immediately placed a smug smile back onto that grimy face.
"Yeah, you're in trouble now slut," he feels Hoseok tense up from behind him, and feels the killing intent.
"Control your whore properly, man" the pig continues on ignorantly, obviously incapable of picking up the tension.
"What the fuck did you just call him?" Hoseok's sharp question cuts through like a steel edged blade, and Yoongi shivers in pleasure from the sheer animosity and white rippling anger in Hoseok's voice.
When the pig picks up on his fatal mistake and starts trembling, Yoongi let's his amusement show.
"I asked you a question", Hoseok demanded, and Yoongi can feel the growing cheshire grin on his partner's lips as he reveled in the fear of the other.
"I- I just thought-" the guy starts shaking again, but Hoseok ignores the excuses in favor of checking up on him.
"Was he bothering you, baby?" Hoseok asks him, demeanour switching as he nosed into Yoongi's hair and pecked the skin at his neck.
Yoongi hums, both from content and agreement. "I was just about to kill him though, so its fine".
Yoongi spots the darkening spot in the guy's grey pants, the stain slowly trailing downwards until yellow liquid dropped to the pavement. Ugh, disgusting.
Hoseok chuckles at his little confession, and Yoongi's blood sings as warm hands started caressing against his sides.
"That's great, pigs should be slaughtered anyway".
The guy tries to make a run for it, but really, its utterly pointless at this time. So Yoongi pulls the trigger to end all this little charade that's already wasted too much of his time, and the pig flops to the ground hard, shaking like a bag of slime.
Hoseok hums amusedly as he watched the scene, turning around to focus on Yoongi instead when he becomes uninterested at the corpse.
Yoongi almost purrs when tan fingers raise up to tuck a loose strand of hair behind his ear, thumbing fondly at the flower as he went.
"You look absolutely beautiful, by the way".
-
There's a ritual that happens a few times randomly every year. Yoongi will walk in with a sort of flower tucked into his hair, just a little off above his ear, and go on with his routine with just a little more bounce in his steps.
The flower changes each time, ranging from roses to orchids and even carnations. This time its apparent that Hoseok favours the white simple daisy.
-
The first time Taehyung spotted it, he had briefly wondered if it had coincidentally fallen into his hair and latched on like super glue.
Taehyung is a naturally curious person, so its to no wonder that the question floats around puzzlingly at the back of his head. What stopped him from asking though, is the knowing and soft glances that Seokjin, Namjoon and even Jeongguk, spares to Yoongi before they continue on without questions.
The flower will disappear from Yoongi's hair the very next day, and in turn, disappear from Taehyung's mind when it doesn't turn up again. At least, until the very next flower shows up.
Its pure luck that he'd had caught it though, having been switched onto an errand with both Hoseok at the very last minute, the only reason why the mystery case behind the flower has been solved.
-
The day had started as per normal. The morning begun with the smell Seokjin's cooking drifting into his room and thus effectively waking him up. Then came the rowdy breakfast scene amd food-snatching before they all departed for their individual schedules.
Its only after the morning errand did the small change in pace came.
Hoseok sends him a signal, and they make a left turn into small row of shop houses instead of going the usual right. They stop in front of a small dingy florist shop that Taehyung smelled a distance away, what with the rows of various flowers that lined up beautifully at the walkway.
"Give me a sec" Hoseok tells him with a grin, before he walked into the shop and blended into the tiny forest behind the glass door.
Taehyung was staring at the small garden of sunflowers and watching interestedly at a busying ladybug when Hoseok appears beside him with a stalk of carnation in his pocket.
"You like those?" Hoseok asks, just as the lady bug launched itself off the yellow petal to land in Hoseok's hair. Hoseok hasn't realized it seems, because Taehyung is sure that he would have started screaming the moment he found out.
"I guess they are pretty", Taehyung shrugs, because they are, but he wasn't as much as a flower enthusiast as he was a passing admirer.
"Hmm", Hoseok considered for awhile before he walked back inside the shop before Taehyung could ask him about his purchase.
Taehyung was idly watching a lady push her small puppy in a baby pram when Hoseok reappeared again.
"Here", Hoseok plucked out one of the sunflowers from the pot and tucked it into Taehyung's hand. Taehyung's hand had reaches out before his mind could fully comprehend that Hoseok was stuffing the flower into his grasp.
"O-oh," Taehyung stutters, staring incomprehensibly from the sunflower to Hoseok. He hasn't really received flowers before, so he doesn't really know what to do when armed with one "thanks, hyung".
"No problem kiddo", Taehyung basks in the small affection when Hoseok pats his head gently.
Taehyung tucks the wide flower into his jacket opening, carefully slotting it in so the petals won't crumple from the pressure of the wind.
When they arrive back at the dorm, Jimin greets them both by the door. There's a small exchange between them before he gets dragged away by his friend.
"What's with the sunflower?" Jimin asks, throwing himself onto Taehyung's bed the moment they enter the room.
"Hoseok hyung gave it to me", Taehyung shrugs, carefully extracting the flower from his jacket before delicately placing it on his desk by the window.
Jimin sends him a weird look but doesn't ask further.
"Its pretty", Jimin finally says, staring as the flower basked in the small light through the window, "kind of reminds me of you in a way".
Taehyung flushes at the comment, but Jimin doesn't tease him about it.
When Yoongi walks by them later that day, Taehyung isn't surprised to find the small carnation tucked into his hair.
-
Soon enough, the flower loses its youth and the petals falls limp and dowry, and Taehyung becomes ever aware when the bright colours slowly faded to grey.
He's tried giving it water, tried sunning it out, but nothing seems to work, and Taehyung finds himself staring sadly and helplessly at it by the end of the day.
He knows there's no way to keep the plant from rotting now but the thought of throwing the little gift away makes his heart ache.
"You could press it you know", the suggestion comes from Yoongi, the elder having already placed two small faux-leather cover books on his desk as he said this.
"Press?" Taehyung asks curiously, watching as Yoongi very carefully opens the older looking book, flipping gently till Taehyung can see a page full of very brightly and well-maintained flowers.
Taehyung smooths his hand over the plastic protector and stares at it adoringly. It feels strangely secretive, like he's been shown something of Yoongi's that's extremely precious.
"Take this," Yoongi slides the obviously new and empty book to his hand and Taehyung soaks up in the comfort of having the firm cover under his finger tips, "its best to press a flower when its colours are still nice and fresh".
His heart feels like it's about to explode from the small and very thoughtful gesture. Its unbelievably kind, and Taehyung is at a loss of words from how much care he feels at the moment. Its overwhelming in a good way, and Taehyung has to swallow hard before he can finally answer Yoongi.
"Thanks hyung", he stutters out, and Taehyung's heart gushes when Yoongi sends him a small gummy grin.
When Jimin asks about the missing flower from the window sill, Taehyung can only grin cheekishly at him and tell him to wait seven days.
If he'd ever have to worry about his collection not growing, it'll easily be casted away when a small flower turns up on his desk unfailingly the next day.
Now Taehyung knows the mystery behind the flowers, as well as the extended answer of what happens to the flowers that Yoongi no longer wears.
He's caught a glimpse of the hidden parts, when Hoseok finds Yoongi, a flower in hand and bright grin on his face. Yoongi is always there, waiting, anticipating, lips quirking up when Hoseok appears at the doorway.
Its alluring and transfixing, but Taehyung quickly looks away (its not something for him to share, he feels), when Hoseok leans down to place a kiss into coloured locks, and the flower in Yoongi's hair.
( Anyone who's ever said that Yoongi wasn't a romantic obviously has never played witness to such scenes. Because when Hoseok is around, Yoongi blooms brighter and more beautifully than any flower Taehyung has seen).
