Lucy knew something was up when her girlfriend sauntered into the bullpen, her signature smirk seemingly cockier than usual. Angela immediately found Lucy in the crowd of officers and made a b-line for her. Angela stopped next to her and placed a hand on her shoulder before leaning in and whispering directly into her ear. "Stay back after the briefing, we need to talk." Angela's low voice made Lucy's knees go weak. When the older woman pulled back, an amused smile fell on her lips, clearly noticing the effect her words had on Lucy. At the lack of response, Angela raised a brow, clearly waiting for any form of acknowledgement. Lucy gave it in the form of a quick nod, and Angela nodded back before slipping on her detective face and turning on her heel to march over to the front of the room.
"Alright, listen up guys." The crowd of officers immediately silenced. "We got a serial arsonist on the loose, and I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of losing to this sicko."
When Angela's briefing ended, officers filtered out of the room, off to complete their assignments. "I need to talk to Angela really quick," Lucy said to Nolan. "I'll meet you at the shop." Not needing further explanation, Nolan nodded before quickly exiting the bullpen.
Before long, it was just the two of them. Angela hadn't left her spot at the front, so Lucy took it upon herself to walk up over there and lean against the front table.
"What's up babe?"
Angela's smirk returned. "I got a call from Grey today." She paused and Lucy raised a brow.
"About what?"
"Destruction of city property."
"I'm sorry what?"
Angela chuckled and sauntered over to her, stopping directly in front of her girlfriend. It took all of Lucy's self control to not place her hands on Angela's hips and pull her in for a kiss. After all, the entire precinct already knew; hell, half of them helped get them together. But they were professionals, so Lucy settled for gripping the table behind her.
"Apparently," Angela's smooth voice brought Lucy back to reality. "You didn't do a very good job of covering that hickey the other day."
Lucy's jaw dropped, and she could feel the blood rushing to her cheeks. Her girlfriend grinned at her, clearly amused by Lucy's predicament.
"Why did he even bring this up," Lucy mumbled, unable to raise her voice any louder.
"One of the rookies saw it when you were in the locker room. They were worried that you got injured and didn't report it during shift, so Grey had to look into it. And since it was a semi-formal report, Grey had to officially close it out by saying he did something. So he called."
Lucy thought that getting an explanation would make her feel better. Turns out it didn't. She buried her face in her hands, unwilling to meet the amused gaze of the woman in front of her.
"Why does this shit always happen to me," she groaned.
Angela chuckled once more. Lucy could hear the ruffle of fabric and seconds later she could feel Angela's presence at her side. She lowered her hands, but before she could turn, Angela leaned in to whisper in her ear. If her girlfriend's hot breath didn't make her shiver, the words she uttered next definitely did.
"I guess this just means I'll have to find other places to mark you. Places that only I can see."
