Work Text:

Zane let out a heavy and withering sigh, the type that displayed the kind of bone-aching misery that lived deep within the soul as he lay on the couch in his living room.

And then, he let out another one.

And another.

Garroth, his loving older brother who had definitely not accidentally broken down through his front door, immediately took notice, turning to him with a concerned raise of his eyebrow.

“Is…everything alright baby bro?”

Zane sighed dramatically for the umpteenth time, lifting his arm from his face and glancing up at his ring finger. The sign of a lifelong promise weighed heavy on it, reminding him of his other half.

“I miss my wife, Garroth.” He eventually confessed. “I miss her a lot.”

Garroth paused, contemplating his words.

“Zane…she hasn’t even been gone for an hour…”

“Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I wasn’t allowed to miss my own wife!” He shot up defensively.

Unfortunately for Zane and his attachment issues, Nana was on her way to her flight as part of a week-long vacation with the girls, meaning he couldn’t come with. As a result, he was stuck moping at their home, missing her dearly already.

“That’s not–what? I didn’t say that–”

“You know, while you’re here why don’t you make yourself useful and fix the damn door you broke?”

“But my show…” Garroth groaned, unable to really deny his request. He was completely guilty of the accused crime, after all.

“Door. Now. Or leave.” He shot his brother a seething glare.

“Fine, fine. But you know you can always call her, right?”

Zane was silent.

“...Right? Baby bro?”

“I…already did. Five times.”

“Fi–oh man, you really are a lost cause! Never thought I’d see the day where y...okay, shutting up and fixing the door.”

It was going to be a long seven days trying to keep his brother’s spirits up.

Notes:

I've been giggling at the ‘i miss my wife tails’ meme for a while and this idea popped up into my head, so I just had to write it. Anyways, back to my assignments :(((
