Work Text:
Adric considered himself a fairly reasonable man. A man of passions, sure. A touch of obsession, maybe. But, truly, what was an elf without a dedicated purpose to work through across the many long centuries?
But if one were to ask his kinsmen, they might be less… generous in their terminology.
Glutton was one of the more popular phrases thrown around back in Ansathyr. Moonstruck and the occasional whisper of death-chasing fool behind silken sleeves also graced his ears, always just within hearing range.
Was it truly so crazy that Adric found the limitations of elves to merely the land far too restrictive? Was it really so mad that he wanted to expand the reach of his kind to the very seas, to sample their bounty, to locate the most forbidden tastes hidden beneath the waves? To find the most succulent, the most delectable, the most prime cut of flesh that none of his kind had ever tasted before and bring it to the masses as a declaration of their ability to surpass all thresholds?
Maybe. But Adric would do it anyway, Sul-Ansa preserve him!
Which was how he ended up here: 200 years on the Pauvanian shores, over three-thousand-four hundred-sixty different kinds of fishes sampled by both his blade and maw, and a litany of scars to show for it. Yet Adric’s greatest bounty continued to elude him, fled upon the currents deep below after every exchange. Always a flurry of color, a twist of limbs, and Adric left either enraged or bloodied. Often both.
But this time… this time, the foul beast would be his.
Blond hair long since silvered by isolation from the forests and the cutting sea winds, golden eyes narrowed in focus, Adric stood proudly on his humble vessel. Given no name, she was hardly a true ship and more a higher quality raft that he took out for his daily trawls. After all, he was a chef, a fisherman, not a shipwright. Adric wouldn’t waste precious time picking up such a craft when this suited him just fine - after all, there were fish to catch, document, master the carving of, and consume.
Nets and lines both were cast to find what scaled beasties lay beneath the dark blue waves; to draw them to the surface. And Adric had long ago learned that this particular catch loved shiny baubles. Colorful shells, pieces of metal, glimmering gems, shiny coins. Anything that might catch the eye in the light that pierced the sea’s surface. Like a bird to trinkets, the fiend would be drawn forth from the azure abyss.
And today was no different.
The elf bared his teeth victoriously as he saw a familiar swath of yellow and crimson streak beneath his vessel. A moment later, the raft jerked violently as one of the nets yanked hard, the rig of ropes and mounts it was strapped to bending precariously. Grabbing the razor sharp knife from his boot, Adric put it between his teeth before grasping the net in both hands. Muscles strained with every tug upward, eyes bloodshot with determination as the water foamed and splashed every which way as the beast struggled below, slowly being drawn to the surface.
Finally, Adric saw it; saw him.
The merman.
A sizeable catch in and out of the water - were he a full man, elf or human, he would have easily towered a solid six and change feet tall. As he was, tentacles combined, his length was formidable. Eight long appendages, coiling and thrashing in the tight ropes of the net, he shrieked, trying to squeeze his way out between the gaps. To use his boneless flexibility to slip away like sand between Adric’s fingers once again
Oh, but Adric long ago learned that trick.
Hooks in the weave were dug deep and only biting deeper the more the beast struggled. Blue blood slid in rivulets, dripping into the water as the merman was hauled out and onto the craft. Adric grunted and groaned around his knife, gaze locked on his prize. It wouldn’t escape him this time.
With a wet, heavy slap, the merman was plopped onto the - for lack of a better word - deck of the raft, splayed out and huffing through the siphons on his ribs. Tentacles writhed and squirmed, grasping anything and everything to try to move, to get footing for the creature to sit up. Adric didn’t give him a chance.
Tossing aside the net in hand, Adric spat the knife into his palm and mounted the fishfolk, pinning him in place best he could. The net did most of the work, keeping the yellow seabeast tangled, but a firm hand on a slippery shoulder certainly helped keep him in place.
The knife pressed to the octopus’s throat, tilting up his chin, a thin line of cobalt blooming where it bit. Thin lips curled back to bare razor teeth, deadly and predatory, horizontal pupils narrowed into slits - before blowing out wide.
A weird vibration traveled up Adric’s arm - a trill of sorts the likes of which he had never heard before. A low thrum that buzzed in the air, deep and heady. Adric could feel it down to his very bones.
He, perhaps foolishly, ignored it.
“At last,” he breathed raggedly. “I will taste you, creature. I will know your flavor and add it to my conquests.”
“I was wondering how long the foreplay last,” the beast purred.
Adric felt every ravenous thought screech to a halt. He blinked once. Twice.
What?
Wait. What? When did the beast learn to speak the common tongue? How long could he do that— wait foreplay?
A dozen conflicting thoughts bombarded Adric at once, leaving him off balance for the first time in decades. His jaw worked uselessly for a moment, trying to find something, absolutely anything, to say to this thing.
“Pardon?”
The merman grinned devilishly, crimson eyes alight with delight.
“Beloved, do not be coy now,” he crooned, voice low enough to rumble the blade to his throat. “You’ve been teasing me along for two decades now.”
Through the mess of the net, webbed hands slick with his own blood, the merman palmed Adric’s thighs like a lover. Exploratory, almost tender - and deeply possessive. Claws bit into leather, drawing a sharp hiss from the elven gourmand.
“I mean really, so many trinket gifts. The obsessive claim marks of your tools. Your hunger. Never have I had any try to woo me so persistently,” the octopus rumbled, tongue running hungrily across his lips. The frills of his headfins trembled in excitement, expression positively aglow with anticipation.
“But now… I am yours, beloved. And you will be mine.”
Adric was still in shock, thoughts a static buzz as he tried to process the words. Woo. Was— this had to be a joke. This— this thing thought Adric’s noble hunt was… He thought this was a, what, courtship?
The silver haired elf jolted violently when something wet and so very slimy slid into the back of his breeches. Golden eyes went wide, jaw slack as he felt it slide between his cheeks. No— no no, what the absolute hell was happening to his hunt? This wasn’t how it was—
“Oh— f-fuck,” Adric gasped, teeth clenching as that tentacle started pressing inside him. The tip was slick against the pucker of his ass, tight though it was, wriggling insistently to get deeper. The clench was instinctive, trying to keep the intrusion out - but that insistent appendage would not be denied.
Not now.
“Know me, beloved. Know Dhimis and welcome me,” the merman - Dhimis - purred under Adric. A second tentacle wound through the netting, catching on the occasional hook but insistent as it pressed past Adric’s lips. He was eager to feel every part of the inside of his charming land-crawling beloved. Dhimis groaned, forked tongue flicking over his fangs, as he savored the tightness of both areas he had long desired to sample.
Only to snarl as the knife was buried into his shoulder with the same insistence as the tentacle in Adric’s ass. Blunt teeth dug into rubbery flesh, Adric biting off the tip of the tentacle in a gush of azure blood. It coated them both, running down the elf’s chin as he stared down manically.
“Welcome this, you freaky fishy fuck,” Adric hissed, mouth half stuffed with the chunk of octopus meat.
And to his absolute bafflement, Dhimis moaned.
“You are… perfect,” the yellow and red striped merman praised, sounding dazed and utterly smitten. “Are you sure you are not already mated?”
The tentacle pressed deeper - and hit Adric’s prostate head on. The elf jolted, back arching, as he nearly choked on the bite of flesh. Much to his own frustration, pleasure began pooling low in his belly as the tentacle squirmed and writhed. The sticky, filthy sound of it squelching back and forth inside him was nauseating in the most delicious way.
Or maybe it was the succulent taste of the merman. Because, much to Adric’s own chagrin, Dhimis was absolutely the best tasting seabeast he’d ever sampled. Even unprepared as it was, the meat was both chewy and tender; utterly unique and unlike anything he’d ever eaten. An odd mix of rubbery, fatty, and firm, it also held an almost crunch to it as he consumed it. The blood only added to the taste, salty and metallic - like sucking on a copper coin that had been left in the sea.
“Insane bastard,” Adric panted, finding himself rolling his hips back into every thrust of the tentacle. Though he wasn’t sure if it was Dhimis or himself he was referring to.
“For you, always, beloved,” Dhimis groaned back, the crimson of his eyes nearly devoured by his blown out pupils.
Adric wasn’t sure how long they moved together, panting and squelching. His pants were a mess, his cock throbbing against the leather breaches. For as much as the nets hooked Dhimis and held him in place, Adric was equally trapped. Not by metal or rope, but by the raw, burning need to consume and be consumed equally. His head fell back, knuckles white on the merman’s chest and the hilt of the knife.
Finally, the peak hit.
With a shout of ecstasy, Adric came harder than he ever had with any elven lovers. Maybe even for the first time since he left Ansathyr. His cock pulsed and twitched as he added to the mess in his breeches, the material growing ever more sticky and soaked. His hips jerked, inner muscles clenching hard around Dhimis. The octopus groaned in turn, inner eyelid slipping shut as he too reached his end.
A watery rush of cum flooded Adric’s gut in a torrent, making the elf lurch at the force of the spray. His palm immediately rested on his own belly, lips curling back at the alien sensation. A webbed hand framed his, smoothing the taut surface as well.
“Mmm, you will look radiant with our eggs,” Dhimis complimented with a purr.
That was like a cold bucket of water for Adric.
“Eggs?” he snapped. “The fuck you mean eggs?”
For once, Dhimis seemed the one caught off guard. He blinked in confusion, tilting his head slightly.
“Did I not just fertilize the pouch of your egg sacks?” he asked, genuinely baffled. The mesh of net across his features did not help the utterly lost expression he wore. Like a dog in a cage trying to figure out what was going on.
“Elves don’t have egg sacks, you cock,” Adric shot back, voice pitching higher in disbelief.
The two stared at each other a long moment, gears clearly turning for the other as they processed not only this moment but the last twenty years between them.
“Huh,” Dhimis finally said at last. But it didn’t take long for the shark-toothed grin to return, however. “But I tasted delicious, yes, beloved?”
Adric didn’t dignify him with an answer.
And, damnation upon this wretched sea creature, he couldn’t bring himself to complete the kill. But that didn’t mean Adric was done with Dhimis. Oh no - not after sampling such a bounty.
The knife was wrenched from Dhimis’ shoulder, making the merman groan in pain. The tip pressed against the underside of his chin once again.
“I am Adric,” the elf told him. “And I will know your flesh again.”
Dhimis beamed.
“Beloved Adric, I shall long for your teeth.”
