Chapter 1: For Odysseus and his family, everything goes back to the sea...

Chapter Text

Telemachus was silent, saying nothing, not that he felt like saying anything. After all, they had done it, they had won. Not in the way they wanted, but power was now in the hands of the new king.

He clutched the sheets of the bed that covered his naked body tightly, trying to ignore the presence of his enemy lying next to him.

As if they were lovers, as if they had chosen to be together out of love.

Telemachus twisted his mouth at the thought, closing his eyes and pulling the sheets to cover more of his chest with the action.

Pathetic. The other for sinking so low into bloody treachery, and him... for not having a better idea than this one... and all because his nature had the worst timing possible.

Thanks to the gods, his mother had been able to escape, but the prince stayed behind to prevent the suitors to follow them. His damn pre-heat was beginning, and Telemachus knew the truth as he ran alongside his mother to the ship waiting for them: the scent would lead the men—particularly the alphas—to their escape route, and they were faster and stronger than both.

They would take their frustrations on their bodies if they caught them. And he preferred his mother to be safe even if alone in Sparta, than both on the Ithacan deck, almost dying after being ravaged by the suitors, the monsters probably only caring which one would take their seed and give them a chance to claim the throne.

It was beyond horrible, but he had heard them planning the other day. That’s why they were running away. Or that was the plan.

Telemachus couldn't do it while being in heat, not if he wanted his mother to be reunited with his father. She had to escape, go with her cousin to Sparta... if he had to sacrifice himself, he would.

By the time the queen realized Telemachus was nowhere in the ship, it was already too late.

The omega stood watching the ship, smiling softly, hair tousling in the wind before feeling his body tremble with rage at the footsteps of a crowd approaching him.

Don’t be afraid. Do not fear.

The question now was, to run? To fight? Surrender so they wouldn't kill him after they had their fun?

Without his mother there, the best thing was to be smart. As the omegan heir, he had something valuable that could keep him alive, and he knew it: His ability to provide a new royal.

If he played with such a card, maybe he would get to stay alive.

That's why he stood firm and calm, even when they approached him between mockery and leering to tie him up, some of the more daring ones beginning to touch him, encouraged by the delicious aroma emanating from his body.

Telemachus tried not to show any disgust, and he also made a huge effort not to show relief when the leader's voice forced those idiots to back off.

At least Antinous prevented something worse from happening.

When all those suitors and alphas were starting to ignore his growls and his discomfort, the alpha leader arrived, causing everyone to suddenly back away, Antinous seriously injuring those who were more clouded by lust than anything else.

Of course he wouldn't risk his ticket to the throne. No one would take it from him.

His command was clear after a few words. The queen had fled, but the prince was brave and willing to give Ithaca a better future, therefore, Antinous would reward the royal’s bravery and would take upon the throne along with the prince so that he wouldn't have to bear that burden alone.

Of course, Telemachus knew that was bullshit. Other words to say Antinous would force Telemachus to choose him as the new king thanks to the rights bestowed upon him as Odysseus’ son. And it was also clear that Antinous would force the prince to mate with him and provide a new bloodline to the throne.

The only real way Antinous would become legal king now that Penelope was gone.

He had no choice but to accept what would happen to him, rubbing his wrists once that Antinous freed his arms and allowing him to carry his body away. Towards the palace… and towards the moment that would sully him.

The prince turned his head, watching over Antinous' shoulder the small dot representing the ship carrying his mother, and a lonely tear fell from his right eye.

I’m sorry mom… I’ll buy you some time… Please forgive me…

When arriving at the palace, he was laid down on the bed of his chambers, his head tilted to one side and his eyes closed. He offered no resistance whatsoever. That is why he was confused when Antinous became frustrated and growled at him to make him angry, his smile appearing when the prince reacted with furious eyes and bared fangs.

The prince blinked even more confused as the suitor lunged to kiss him and touch him. He wouldn’t deny he was expecting way more violence, taking into account how Antinous was… but oh well, he wouldn’t complain in that terrible moment about to happen.

He would take on the little mercies he could get.

Telemachus remembers very well how much he had to fight to keep his body and voice under control while the other man was taking him. He would not give Antinous the satisfaction to think he had yielded to him, so even if his body was screaming with pleasure as it rocked back and front, he remained strong and as regal as he could.

It was easier if he thought about it as a trade for his own life and a little power to safekeep the throne from being entirely snatched away.

He hated having to bite the other's scent gland to form a bond, or else, according to Antinous’ threat, the suitor's dagger would slit his throat right there.

The taste was bitter on his mouth while the soul bound was forming.

The council needed a bite to prove that Antinous had bonded with the prince. Without the queen, it was necessary for the new power to take over immediately.

In the end, as they both gasped, teeth slightly red with blood from the other, they knew it had only been a means to an end. And they knew it so damn well. At least, it wasn't as bad as it could have been...

Everything changed a few weeks later when the council told the new king an heir was required as soon as possible, this to prevent any tragedy like what happened with the previous monarchs.

Telemachus knew how to weave, he wasn’t as good as his mother because he preferred more masculine activities, but thanks to his omegan subgender, he was allowed to do such things without it being considered feminine or wrong for him. He was busy making a tapestry for Athena when his bedroom door slammed open, startling him and making him turn fast to see his mate walk determined towards him.

He knew what Antinous wanted and what he was after once he grabbed him hard by the shoulders to kiss his neck, working fast to take off his clothes and directing his body so he could bent him in the nearest object, that being the desk of the royal.

The prince, now turned consort king despite being the legit blood heir to the throne, knew it would be best if he remained stoic through it all. Telemachus liked that the lack of bite pissed Antinous off enormously.

The reason was simple: Antinous hated snuffed out people, he liked a challenge, the fire, the bite that could keep his own way of being blazing.

And he knew Telemachus, even if forced to be with him, was all of that. There was a reason why the suitor always picked him to tease and annoy back in the days. So, suddenly find this stoic, docile version of Telemachus, when he hadn’t even tried breaking him yet, unnerved Antinous to the bone.

It was the personal Tartarus the omega delighted instilling in his forced spouse.

Eventually, after days of constant mating, the omega barely avoiding to fall into the claws of surrender and pleasure because of his pride, the inevitable happened. At first, he tried to hide it, even asking Eurycleia to give him some remedy to prevent it, taking great care to ensure that the new king never saw him running to vomit at the slightest smell of food.

However, Antinous had been the leader of the vile suitors for a reason. The king by blood, now treated as if he were the queen, was brutally punished then for trying to hide the presence of the new heir from the eyes of the alpha.

And Antinous didn’t punish Telemachus physically. He knew the young man quite good and thought of a much worse punishment for this mate of his.

Telemachus raged for many days, tried to keep composed, only to beg and cry after a lunar cycle, his fists hitting the door in despair, promising obedience if Antinous allowed him to get out of there.

If something existed that Telemachus hated with all his being, was feeling trapped and caged. Had felt like that most of his life, he didn't need to be like that physically as well.

But everyone was too terrified at the idea of challenging the king to help him. That’s how Telemachus spent seven whole lunar cycles locked in a small room, nothing to do but waiting to be let out, occasionally a scroll to read when Antinous was pleased after having sex, the omega forced to eat properly and get enough rest under the watchful eye of his mate, who was not going to let go to waste his chance to ensure his heritage would be royalty one day.

Real royalty.

On the day the pup was born, Telemachus had no idea what the future held for him or for the one who, in a few minutes, would become his child and the next heir of Ithaca's throne.

After much sweat, tears, and pain, the little new prince came into the world. As soon as he could hold him in his arms, he brought him close to his face so he could feel him, smell him, sense that he was now there with him. Telemachus was so tired, but he smiled at the feeling of warmth and life, it was a perfect baby boy. The prince fell in love the second the baby sneezed for the first time and cooed.

The false king's hand rested on his head, and his expression turned to regret as the thoughts about his baby drifted to uncertainty and worry under the alpha's threading of his fingers possessively rewarding over his hair.

His cute little pup wasn't there just for him. Now that he was born, the baby was there with them.

And yet, the moment the little one got out of his womb, it was not only the moment he regained his freedom; the omegan maternal instinct made him see the baby as his mother had seen him: a sweet hope.

Telemachus couldn't help but smile and cradle him in his arms. He may hate the father of his pup and all those who were now slowly beginning to replace the council, as it was expected, but his adorable child was so sweet, truly. As Telemachus rocked him on his arms, steps coming and going in the gardens of his home, he was aware that little Kleon was the only good thing he had left.

Sometimes he wondered… would his mother think of him? Would his father ever be back to give them back their glory days?

Three years passed. Telemachus learned to put up with the alpha, and it no longer seemed so horrible to give in when the other wanted to. At least he was intoxicated with pleasure since the other had already learned what he liked, and honestly, he preferred that they both release tension that way rather than the way Antinous punished him.

Because, let’s face it, Telemachus maybe was unreactive in bed, but, on the daily basis?

He hated Antinous, and he let that know by fighting all the time, turning everyone he could against him, humiliating him with knowledge he didn’t possess, and leaving marks of wounds when things between the two escalated too far.

Life wasn’t easy. But it was bearable.

Besides, there was something that confused Telemachus a lot, too much as a matter of fact.

Antinous was cruel, and sometimes that seeped into the way he treated his son, his three-year-old. But what intrigued Telemachus about his behavior was that he always rewarded the little boy with lots of time to play with him after growling at him or spanking him for bad behavior.

He didn't say it, but it was almost as if he were apologizing to the child.

The baby would get cautious of him when he was in a bad mood, but after that, he loved being with his father. Above all, he loved sitting on his alpha father's lap while he oversaw the affairs that came to him as king.

And the young omegan king wondered why… Why was Antinous a terrible man and mate, but not a terrible father? He was slightly relived of that, but it was something he couldn’t wrap his head around.

The curious thing of all the matter was, along with the not so awful father part, probably that Antinous wasn't a terrible monarch. He had many rough edges and shortcomings when it came to the needs of the people, but he was quite good at strategic matters, economic struggles, political issues, and taking care of external dangers towards Ithaca. He had problems in other areas, but Telemachus was unwilling to help, and Antinous wouldn't let him.

Telemachus scoffed at the idea every time he was sitting on the throne next to Antinous, closing his eyes and refusing to look in the direction of his forced companion. He wasn't a king, he was an abuser and a murderer, the last part true since that day when Odysseus' kin ran away, Antinous had led the suitors to kill all the loyal guards so they could get to his mother and him.

The day finally arrived, and only because the gods had decided so. The day Odysseus returned, the day he would be freed from that alpha, the day his family would finally be united...

Or so he had hoped. Telemachus didn't know, but the alpha realized quite fast what was happening with the first cries and a scent similar to Telemachus.

Odysseus had returned; he wasn't dead.

That's when something happened that the now—once more—prince upon his father's arrival, could never have foreseen...

Considering the past before Odysseus arrived, Telemachus should have suspected it... and he blamed himself bitterly ever since...

On many occasions, the baby slept in Antinous' arms, while the alpha glared angrily at anyone who dared to look at him as if he were fragile just because he was carrying his heir in his throne won by blood and treason. Then, after all the duties, Antinous carried the pup back into the nursery or sometimes their own bedroom with so much care and devotion, lulling Kleon, voice soft and tender like never before.

And Telemachus found once more not understanding why. There were so many questions not only about such a thing, for example: Why had he shown mercy towards him and not tried to impregnate him again after having his son? Antinous took him when and how he wanted, lusting in those moments, but he never bit his scent gland again.

Once more, on retrospect, Telemachus should have suspected what would happen when Odysseus returned... But he did not.

When he finally managed to kill the guards in his room who were loyal to the false king, he entered the room to make sure his little one hadn't woken up. A chill installed in his chest and began to search desperately when he realized his infant was not in the room.

Someone had taken him away. The prince shook his head in denial, feeling the anxiety starting to turn him feral, and ran out of there, desperately searching for the scent of his forced partner, who was most likely the one who had taken his son.

He found the trail leading to the outskirts of the palace and ran after it, breathing heavily and begging not to be late, not to be like his mother, who had also failed to realize in time.

Telemachus barely saw him in the low light of the late night. Antinous was running quickly, covering the little boy with a cloak so he wouldn't get cold. Telemachus could see his chubby cheek resting on the other man's shoulder, blinking a bit and still sleepy. His little green eyes squinting because of how fast the alpha was running.

Telemachus thought about tackling him and thwart his escape, but then, he saw his father getting ready a little behind him on his left. Telemachus stopped running right there and his pupils shrank as he watched Odysseus drawing his bow and taking aim at Antinous.

It was very dark, and he knew his father had legendary aim, but he couldn't help the intrusive thoughts that made him panic.

What if he missed? What if he hadn't seen the child?

Telemachus despaired, screaming and causing the king to lose his balance when his son threw himself on top of him. The arrow was shot into the ground.

“Father, no! You could hit my son!”

The king realized that his son was not only omega, but had also given him a grandson. But when they turned around, they realized that there was no trace of the other man.

Even when both searched and searched all night until dawn broke.

...

Odysseus then, after days of search, cradled his son kneeling on his own chambers, hugging the broken and crying in anguish omega over the disappearance of his baby.

The guards had searched the entire island and there was nothing. The young prince Kleon, was nowhere to be found.

Stolen by the man who had become a fugitive in the eyes of Ithaca.

Two years passed, almost three. The prince was happy that his mother had returned, but everyone could see he was depressed.

He hardly ate, performed all his duties mechanically, and when he tried to sleep, he couldn't, so it became a habit of his to go lie down on the beach, waiting for a new day, hearing the waves of the sea in the middle of the night, motions that brought back so many memories.

Memories that were slowly killing him.

How could he be back to normal when he wasn't aware if his child was even alive? If he was safe? Warm and well fed? He lived in an eternal question mark and that was mining him on the inside.

...

On one of those occasions, just when three years since that day had finally past by, the prince arrived at the beach after another failed attempt to sleep. However, he stopped abruptly, his nose detecting a scent that made his heart skip a beat.

It was the scent of Antinous.

He ran to where the scent was coming from, almost tripping in the sand and small rocks all around, and just when reaching the shore, found what he never thought he would find.

The alpha was sitting on the gleaming sand, his hands picking up shells and bringing them directly to the ear of a six-year-old boy who took them and laughed.

A pup with green eyes, brown hair, and a look Telemachus recognized.

Telemachus couldn't help letting out a choked sound of relief, that same sound giving him away, for Antinous turned his head, his black hair almost accidentally slapping entirely against the boy.

In the moonlight, the prince noticed the anguish in his gaze.

It was something he had never seen before. The little one rubbed his face from the blow of the hair and looked at Telemachus, tilting his head and trying to recognize who was watching them.

That made the omega burst into tears. Didn't he remember him? Had he forgotten him?

Antinous didn't even let the feeling overwhelm him. He quickly grabbed the child and ran away. Telemachus let out a cry and ran after him as fast as his legs would carry him.

No, no, no. Not this time, not again. This time he would kill him, take Kleon away, protect his baby as he should’ve had.

Telemachus cornered Antinous between the seashore and a cliff above them. The man had nowhere else to run. Antinous turned and hugged the child, growling but making no sound, only showing his fangs and releasing his scent.

The prince did the same, showing him that he was not afraid of anything at that moment and that he would kill him if he didn’t give him the child.

Again, Antinous had nowhere to run...

Or so Telemachus thought. Antinous noticed him approaching and, without thinking twice, ran towards the ocean. Before he could even begin to threaten the usurper king, the man threw himself into the water.

“Wait! No!" Telemachus shouted in terror. "What in Hades are you doing!? Antinous! He'll drown!"

However, just when the alpha was fighting to stay afloat in the deep part of the water, the sea began to part, causing the alpha to touch sand once more and then, allowing him to run across the sand further into the sea.

Telemachus didn't even question the sanity of what he was seeing, he threw himself into the ocean, growling with pure anxiety as the waters closed in on him, forcing his body to float and swim.

He only managed to see his baby's locks of brown hair before the ocean engulfed them. Disappearing into the sea of Ithaca.

There was only one force powerful enough to do such things, and Telemachus realized the cruel reality of this tale as he cried and screamed, safe once more in the shore, the water lapping at his knees when he dropped to choke a sob.

Only one god who actually had a way too personal vendetta with his family.

Only one lord of the ocean.

The sole word was a name.

Poseidon.
