To My Secret Admirer | Karma x Reader

Summary:

Karma Akabane has been receiving love letters from someone in his school. Who is this mystery person? Well, that's what Karma wants to know.

Chapter 1: ❥ Challange Accepted

Chapter Text

Dear, Karma-kun.

I thought it was really cool how you defended your friend the other day from those mean bullies.

You're really cool :)

-Your secret admirer

This is the 8th love letter Karma received these past few weeks from some unknown person. It was strange to be getting these kinds of love letters. It was so foreign for someone like him.

Believe it or not, Karma isn't the type to get his locker filled with pink envelopes. Is he ugly? Nope. Far from it. He has fair skin, he has a nice face, tall, striking mercury eyes, and if looks aren't enough, he is also extremely smart and confident.

He sounds like the kind of guy who would be surrounded by girls and showered with love letters. And he would have. But there is a small problem. Karma is a delinquent; he gets into fights too easily and enjoys a blood bath. That would put most people off. And he doesn't care. He mostly chooses to be alone and doesn't engage much with others. Over the years he's been going to school, he's only made one friend.

So, when he started to receive these love letters, it caught him off guard. Someone out there was actually into him.

Violent or not. Prankster or not.

Karma kept re-reading the pink letter and would sometimes tilt his head to look around the classroom. He made sure to keep the letter out in the open because if his secret admirer was in this room, then there was a good chance he would catch her staring at him.

But, he didn't see anyone looking in his direction. Everyone was too busy studying. That's all anyone does in this school.

Karma distantly looked at his letter again, pursed his lips and told himself that there was a good chance that his secret admirer could be from another class.

Nagisa, who had been sitting across from him, noticed what Karma had been up to. "Karma-kun. I think the whole point of a secret admirer is that, well... they want to be kept a secret."

"Only because they're worried their crushes won't be interested in them," Karma says, waving him off.

Nagisa raised his eyebrow at the redhead. "Are you interested in getting to know your secret admirer?"

Karma keeps up an aloof expression, but he doesn't look at Nagisa.

It isn't just simple curiosity. Maybe in the beginning he was since he'd never received a love letter before, but now it was more than a curiosity. Whoever this person was, she clearly seemed genuinely into him. The letters do sometimes bring up the fights he gets into, but that doesn't matter to them, apparently. It's like you see him more than what everyone says he is. He respects her for that.

"Maybe." That was all Karma said.

Getting the sense that Karma wants to meet this girl, he takes a look around the classroom, wanting to help his friend.

"She could be anyone," Nagisa said. "Unless she's been giving you hints in her letters, I don't think you'll be able to find her."

Hints...

Karma could feel an idea stirring something inside of him, and the idea made his heart beat with a twinge of excitement. He let his mind work quickly and plan everything out, and once he did, a smirk started to form on his lips.

"Hey, Nagisa-kun, give me a piece of paper."

-💌-

Once again, you came to school bright and early. It was a habit by this point, ever since you joined the gardening club. Not only were you in charge of watering the plants, but it was also the best time to deliver your love letter to Karma. Barely anyone was around the lockers, especially Karma. But you don't have to worry about him so much since he likes to attend school a bit later than most of the students here.

You know this because your classroom is on the second floor and has a good view of the courtyard, so you can easily spot the redhead whenever he comes to school.

When you were close enough to see Karma's locker, you noticed an envelope taped onto the door. You would have ignored it, but the envelope had something written on it that captured your attention.

It says: To my secret admirer.

You can only blink confusingly.

It's talking about you, right? You would always write "Your secret admire" at the bottom of each one of your letters. And as far as you can tell, there haven't been any other letters in Karma's locker. Only yours.

If this letter is for you, then your only question is... why? Why is Karma trying to reach out to you?

You squeaked when you assumed that he must have found who you are and now was trying to mess with you. Not only was Karma known to be violent, but he could also be quite the trickster. He would pull pranks on some of the students here. Even the teachers.

He can be ruthless.

Because of the fear of the possibility of being discovered, you turned your heels and started to walk away from his locker, almost sprinting. But, before you can speed off, you slow your pace when you try to think more clearly. You glance over your shoulder to take another look at the envelope.

To my secret admirer.

Your heart skipped a beat. It was like the letter was calling out to you.

Karma was calling out to you.

Okay, so maybe you were a bit curious. It's quite possible it isn't a prank. There could be all sorts of factors to take in. None that you can think about right now, but that doesn't mean there isn't but you wanted to give Karma the benefit of the doubt.

Nonetheless, you felt the need to read what was written. Tentatively, you took the envelope into your hand and opened it. Before reading it, you took a deep breath.

Hey, you're my secret admirer, right? Haha, don't worry, I haven't figured out who you are. Yet~

I could figure out who you are all on my own by simply coming to school early or staying after school, but that would be boring. I want our first meeting to be interesting. So, wouldn't it be more fun if we played a game first?

You furrowed your brows. This has all been very odd from the start, but you kept reading. At the very least, he didn't seem put off by your love letters. Which was good. You were worried he would have found you creepy.

Keep sending me these love letters. But, only if you give me at least one clue about who you are in these love letters. You can do that, right? I'll check my locker by the end of the day to see if you have an answer.

Are you up for it?

"Wh-what?" You said out loud.

He wants you to keep sending him these love letters in order to figure out who you are. Why though? Did you pique his interest in some way?

Well, whatever his reasons were, you weren't sure if you could go through with it. You were perfectly fine being a secret admirer. You had a bad experience confessing to a guy you liked in the past. It was so embarrassing that you had to switch schools.

Just thinking about it makes your stomach churn, so you shake your head.

You spent your entire lunch period re-reading the note Karma sent you. The more you read it, the more butterflies you feel swarming in your stomach.

Your crush was interested in getting to know you.

He said he could figure you out by waking up earlier, but he chose not to do that. Probably because he's lazy, but also because he wants to play a game with you. He wants to be entertained.

You felt so tempted to agree, but, because of your bad experience, you were worried about the aftermath. What would happen if he did find out who you are? Would he take advantage of your feelings for him? Your fear of what happened last year kept you from wanting to play the game.

But...

Then you remember the reason why you started crushing on Karma in the first place.

Also, you're not going to lie, the game did interest you. Who doesn't love games?

Before you know it, you smile to yourself. Like a giddy fool, you tucked Karma's letter away and took out a pink paper from your journal.

-💌-

Karma has never left the classroom so quickly as he did today. He was excited to know what your answer was. Sure, there was a chance for you to say no, resulting in never getting another love letter from you. But, something in him told him you would say yes.

Karma opened his locker and perked up when he spotted your pink envelope resting on top of his outdoor shoes. Your answer was in this envelope.

Before opening it, Karma quickly lifts his head to look around, trying to see if he can weed out anyone suspicious. Some students were talking close by their lockers about a new show that started airing, some girls were whining about their assignments, and a teacher was apparently giving a student a stern lecture about something... but no one he could deem suspicious.

But whatever. It wouldn't be any fun if he could figure out his secret admirer right now. Thus, he opened the letter.

Dear, Karma-kun.

This is all very strange. I've never heard of someone wanting to find out who their secret admirer is by playing a game. But, I guess I'm just as odd because I want to see if you can figure out who I am :)

So here is the first hint. It's a small one, so don't get cocky.

Hint # 1: We've spoken to each other at least once.

Even if you confront me, I won't say anything. I'll even go as far as feigning ignorance, acting as if I don't know you. The game just started, and it would be quite boring if you figure out my identity this early :(

Good luck.

Karma got a rush of excitement.

This is going to be fun.
