Chapter Text
Prologue: Echoes of the Eclipse
The sky once shimmered with twin auroras — the light of dawn and the veil of dusk — forever intertwined above the Kingdom of Elyndor. It was said that when the two met in perfect harmony, the Truth of the universe would whisper to those who dared to listen. But harmony never lasts forever.
When the Eclipse came, it did not roar.
It hummed.
A low, resonant tone that rippled through reality — erasing color, sound, and memory. Cities that once floated among the clouds fell like tears of crystal. Oceans froze mid-wave. Hearts split open, releasing fragments of emotion that took form as shadows. The Heartless, born from the fear of truth itself, devoured everything that dared to remember.
And from the ruins of that silence…
one heart refused to fade.
Nite stood amidst the ashen ruins of what was once home. His fingers brushed the cracked surface of a sigil etched into the stone — a mark of the Cipher Family, guardians of the Truth System, the cosmic law that balanced light, shadow, and soul.
His father, Orion, had once told him:
“The Truth isn’t found — it’s unsealed. And every unsealing comes with a price.”
Those words now echoed in his mind like a curse.
His father was gone. His mother’s song — once the lullaby that calmed storms — was lost to the dark. His younger brother, Lior, had vanished during the Eclipse, his laughter now nothing more than a phantom note in Nite’s chest.
All that remained was the Cipherstone, glowing faintly in his palm. It pulsed in rhythm with his heartbeat, a relic of his bloodline — and perhaps the last tether to everything he’d ever known.
But Nite was not a hero.
He was a seeker — a wanderer trapped between what was real and what should have been.
And yet, the Cipherstone called to him, reshaping itself into a blade of shifting light and shadow — the Cipherblade. Each form it took mirrored his emotions: grief forged the edge, curiosity carved the hilt, and truth — truth burned at its core.
He wandered through fragmented realms — echoes of lost kingdoms — each suspended in shards of light like forgotten dreams. In one, he glimpsed an old friend’s smile trapped in glass; in another, a distorted reflection of himself kneeling before an empty throne.
It was there, amid the void between realities, that he met her.
A girl, standing upon a platform of fractured mirrors, her silver hair catching the dim light like threads of dawn. Her eyes were not kind, nor cruel — merely curious.
“You’re looking for answers,” she said, stepping forward.
“But you don’t even know the question yet.”
Nite raised his Cipherblade, its tip glinting in the twilight. “Who are you?”
“Mira,” she replied softly, her voice echoing as though spoken through eternity.
“And I think… you and I are searching for the same thing.”
From her chest shimmered a symbol — not unlike his Cipherstone, but inverted. Where his pulsed with truth, hers flickered with deception.
And yet, when their light met, a bridge of resonance formed between them, illuminating fragments of the past neither fully remembered.
Together, they stepped into a new dawn — one painted not by sunlight, but by resolve. The Truth Key awaited somewhere in the vast tapestry of shattered worlds, its power said to unlock not just the secrets of the heart, but the soul of creation itself.
Yet deep within Nite’s mind, a whisper lingered — a voice ancient and cold, the same one that heralded the Eclipse.
“Every truth unsealed births a new shadow…
and every seeker becomes what they fear to understand.”
As the path unfolded before them — galaxies stitched together by memory and grief — Nite felt the Cipherstone tremble once more. Its glow formed a faint sigil in the air, shaping into words only he could read:
TRUTH SYSTEM INITIALIZED.
FIRST SEAL: AWAKENING.
And so began his descent — or his rise — into the Cipher of Shadows.
