Day 6: Gingersnaps

Madeline bakes for Alex for the first time.

Notes:

Oh hey, it's a remix of the fic that killed Indie Game Fluffuary last year! The prompt was "Cooking Together" and I was writing a Madeline/Theo fic about them baking together for that event, but it was literally the same month that Celeste 64 came out and made Madeline/Alex canon, and I stopped writing because I thought people would literally murder me if I wrote Madeline in an M/F relationship. Madeline is still always the first character I think about when I see baking-themed prompts so I have redeemed myself and finally written a fic about this game.

I still kind of prefer Madeline/Theo but Madeline/Alex is also good, good enough that this drabble ended up centering on them!

Work Text:

Theo perks up as the scent of ginger and butter fills the apartment. As Madeline’s recipe tester, he knows what’s waiting for them, and he knows that Alex is going to have a new favorite person in the world as soon as she tastes these cookies.

Avó’s old apron is long in the hem but snug against Madeline’s frame. Her content glow as she wipes sweat from her brow with a mitt is a feeling that Alex has always sought with her hobbies but has never achieved. Maybe, she thinks as gingersnaps melt in her mouth, she could teach me.

Now that the Great Canadian Baking Show is a thing I absolutely headcanon that Madeline has gone on it.
