Chapter Text

At 11:45 PM, faint sounds of thunder could be heard in the hotel's corridors and halls; the rain was pouring down, causing some leaks and a peculiar odor.

"So much for a decent fortress..." said Abaddon, walking alone and assessing his surroundings.

"You should be grateful, most residences wouldn't let a demon in, much less live there," said Esther, searching for something at the entrance to the cursed corridors.

"What do you want?"

"I'm looking for a Nephilim's hand. A ghost said it was in this part of the hotel."

"...No, there's nothing like that here. I could sense it from very far away and I'm not feeling anything."

"Oh, man, that Larry is a damn liar! Oh, alright, I'll keep looking for... anything? Bye!"

"Farewell, then..."

After a while, Abaddon returned to the same place where they had that conversation and stood there, silently staring at the corner of one of the corridors, with a blank expression.

"I don't believe a ghost could sense that. I need to hide better, or they'll get in my way."

Then, with both hands, he began to make symbols and prayers, and a light shone where he was looking for a second and faded in a low whisper.

"There, now... I need to prove to Esther that I'm worthy of the title of master of hide-and-seek! She'll see that my last defeat was only the fault of the poor infrastructure of the place, not mine!"

He then went to Katherine's room to look for the perfect spot, but while looking around the room, he ended up seeing a magical object in the drawer.

It looked like a protective amulet.

"This isn't hers, it must be something of Esther's, hm... it wouldn't hurt anyone if I broke it, at least not anyone I care about. I'll only leave one human free when I regain my sanity."

Just as he was about to break it, the door began to open. He was afraid of whoever might think he was plotting something.
