Chapter Text
maybe coming here was a bad idea. he thought, while searching the room for absolutely anyone he knew while leaning against the entrance to the living room, attempting to look like he was above everyone here. but it went unnoticed.
It was Sunday, and his cousins and THEIR buddies had invited him to this party, but they split up to different directions of the house as soon as they arrived, and after a minute, it was only him.
he should be at the top of his element right now, Usually everyone was desperate to be noticed by him. But he seemed to be invisible to these people, they were all too focused on themselves.
The bright flashing lights and dark atmosphere made it too difficult to make out anyone in here anyway, there was no point in staying here, he decided, as he made his way outside.
Once he found the door and stepped out, the loud music became muffled and he welcomed the cool night air instead of that muggy, crowded house. He glanced around, the house he was at was nice, at least. It was in some rich neighborhood on a hill, you could see most of the city right here. He spotted his car he had all driven them to here in, at the very end of the driveway.
Maybe he could just leave. They could all find rides back or something. He’d had enough of sitting alone and waiting for them to get bored of this party. Yeah, that sounded like a good plan.
he smoothly strolled to his car after stumbling down the porch steps embarrassingly, and it was a nice one at that. He grabbed the keys out of his pocket, and circled to the front door-
he stopped in his tracks. someone was leaning on his car. “Excuse me?” he asked, already impatient. The parrot opened one eye, looking at him as if he wasn’t worth his time. “Sim?” He answered, now fully looking at him, hands in his pockets, still looking as bored as ever. The parrot in question wore a worn out yellow shirt, a red baseball cap (that was backwards, what a nerd) VERY baggy jeans, and the same color shoes as his hat. He had dark, brown eyes, and had one eyebrow lazily raised in confusion…Oh. he was staring.
”You’re leaning on my car jackass, get off.” He ordered after a moment, taking a step closer. The parrot eyed him in a curious manner once more, before taking a step forward, off of the car. “Ah, apologies. i just needed some air away from the party. you understand don’t you? no need to get all hot headed.” he gave a smile his way, so fake and charming he almost wanted to punch the guy. Wait, did he just insult him?!
”Who are you calling hotheaded?!” he demanded, fuming. Does this guy not know who he is? The parrot blinked. He just shook his head and snickered, after a couple seconds he finally replied, “Oh, come on, i was just kidding with you! Don’t be so serious!” He chuckled some more, spinning to lean on the car next to his, facing him once more. He seemed familiar, but not important enough to Galo to care where he had seen him from.
He felt his face heat up. “You’re lucky i’m not in the mood to fight anyone right now.” He threatened, pointing at him. The parrot just chuckled again, “that’s cute.” He pointed back, to his red face. THAT pushed galo to the breaking point.
“Don’t. You dare. You wanna get physical? You know who I am, right?” he gritted his teeth, straightening out to tower above him. The parrot just shrugged as a response as he fished for the cigarette pack in his left pocket. As he did for the other pocket, before looking up in what Galdino could only assume was shock.
“Droga! I forgot my lighter….” His face scrunched up in a smile, like he was having an idea for the first time ever in his life, “Hey, you would not have a lighter I could borriow, would you not?” Inching closer to Galdino.
He probably looked bright red (in anger) right now. Does this wierdo know what personal space is? they were practically beak to beak. The parrot didn’t seem to even care that galo could break every bone in his body right now. continuing to look into his eyes with an innocent look, like he was challenging him. After another moment finally he gave in, and grabbed it out of his pocket, slamming the stupid lighter into his hand.
His face lit up at the sight, “Obrigado.” He quickly said as he hurriedly flicked the lighter a couple of times to get it to work, then lighting the cigarette. after taking a few puffs, he sighed. “Oh, thank you. I was starting to insane!”
“Uh huh.” He hummed impatiently. What an addict. After a couple silent minutes he spoke again once the cigarette was almost gone, “I am Zé, by the way. Thank you again for the lighter, Nice meeting you.” He stood up fully off of the car he had been leaning on opposite to him, and began to walk away. Galdino rolled his eyes, and began to unlock the front door-
Wait a minute, did that guy just steal his lighter?
“Hey!” He called to Zé, who was almost to the sidewalk, beginning to maneuver between cars. He turned back to face him just as Galdino grabbed his shirt and pulled him up to his face. Zé gave him a smile, his fake, charming smile he flashed earlier.
”Can I help you?” He said, in a such a clueless, stupid voice which only made Galdino angrier. “Give. It back.” He gritted his teeth. No way was he going to be outsmarted by this loser. How did he not notice him pocket his lighter?
Zé gave a disappointed look. That then turned into a sly smirk, “Make me.”
He thought for a moment. “…Okay. Fine.” He concluded, dragging Zé back into the house party so everyone could watch Galo absolutely humiliate him.

The first thing galdino woke to was a headache. That, and the radio playing one of the many stations softly on his desk.
He rubbed his eyes, and began to sit up, only immediately regretting it when a shock of pain jolted through his head. he winced. He was hungover. Looking at the clock at the other side of the room, on his dresser. 6:00 am. Ugh, and it was monday…
Last night was a blur. He remembered going inside after meeting that annoying parrot.. Then did a few shots with him, for some reason…then did a few more together..then played a drinking game with a loud group of dogs..the rest was too foggy to remember.
His eyes drifted down, to his own bed, wondering how even got home…his eyes landed on a suspiciously person shaped lump in his bed, below the covers. He froze. What had happened last night? He wracked his brain for answers. He attempted to retrace his steps..oh no. He carefully inched closer, hoping to god he didn’t think who he thought it was. taking a hand and delicately lifting some of the blanket off so he could see who evers head this was.
And sure enough, it was. Shiny Green feathers reflecting the red glow of the alarm clock. He was going to be sick. This couldn’t be happening, he was…he would never…he was straight. instinctively, he reached over and shook Zé awake. He needed to get rid of the evidence, thats what. And to make sure Zé wouldnt talk. About any of this.
angry mumbling could be heard on the other side of the bed, as Zé curled into himself attempting to fall back asleep, before he (assumably) realized he was infact not. In his own bed.
He shot up, eyes darting back and forth. Then his eyes landed on galdino.
“..Ah. Did we….” He trailed off, glancing away. It was quiet for a moment, before Zé broke the sweet silence. A smile creeped onto his face. He Leaned in closer (Galdino just noticed how close they were) than he already was. “Did you enjoy it? I can barely remember last night, how’d I do?” His half lidded eyes meeting his.
Galdino was about to explode. “Of. Of course not!” He remembered to lower his voice before someone in his house woke up. His parents usually weren’t home, but that didn’t mean that all of his siblings weren’t, aswell.
He thought he should probably get straight to the point. He grabbed Zé’s arm firmly. “Look. You cannot say a word abour this. Got it? If you do I will break the both of your legs. I’m not joking. Understand, loser?” He spat out, tightening his grip of the parrots arm.
Zé looked down to his arm, gave him a disbelieving look, and then a small smile. “Oh, do not worry, your secret is safe with me.” He reassured, putting his hand over Galdino’s own, the one holding the parrots arm.
Galdino looked down at his hand, then glanced back up, a little taken back. It was that easy? Zé continued to look at him. Feathers still glistening red from the clock. “And what, you think you’re the only one who can’t let anyone find out about this?” Zé gestured at the rooster as a whole, earning an offended look from Galdino. “I have a life too, you know.”
They sat in silence for one more moment. “…good. Good.” He finally replied.
before Galdino remembered that it was Monday again. “Shit.” He slapped a hand onto his head exasperatedly, “School.” Winning a snort from Zé.
Another minute later, they begun to get dressed. Galdino tried focus on himself as best as possible, but his eyes kept drifting to the other room, were Zé was. And he obviously knew, because he wouldn’t keep winking his way if he didn’t.
As they finally were all situated, they begun to head to his balcony (yes, he had a balcony) the sun was already beginning to rise into a bright blue sky mixed with yellows, oranges and pinks. “Ok, just do what I do. Got it?” He pointed his thumb to his own chest. Zé gave a lazy thumbs up himself.
He hopped down over the railing and landed on some shrubs, and looked back up to the balcony, waiting for Zé to come falling after him. But he saw no green parrot, no bright red hat, no yellow worn-in shirt. Like he had vanished from thin air. “Wh-“ he began to look around, he should've never trusted that lying, stupid-
“took you long enough.” He said from behind the rooster, seemingly coming out of nowhere, making him jump. “What the- where did you come from?!” He yelled back as a reply. Zé tried to bit back his laughter, failing. “I cannot reveal my secrets.” He answered.
Galdino angrily grumbled to his car. “Whatever.” He grabbed his keys from his pockets and began to unlock the car door, pulling it open before realizing Zé was still standing there, staring.
Galdino glanced around a couple of times, before looking back at him. “..Well? You gonna…get going? Dont you go to school too? Or are you one of those homeschooled freaks..” Galdino sneered, elbow on his cars roof, door still open to the cars drivers seat.
The parrot blinked, then gave a smile, similar to the one he flashed Galdino last night. “Ah, as you can see, I currently have no car on me at the moment. I do not suppose I could catch a ride with you to school?” He clasped his hands together and stepped a foot closer, Giving a pleading look. Great. This guy went to the same school as him. Even though he had promised to not spill, it didn’t make him any less paranoid.
But, as much as he was enjoying watching how pathetic this guy was, he looked at his watch. He didn’t have time for this. He rolled his eyes, “Fine. Get in.” He got in the car and watched Zé follow after him this time, making sure he didn’t get the jump on him, however he did that..
”Much thanks.” He began, reaching for his seatbelt and snapping it into place, as Galdino pulled out of his drive way, “And no, I am not homeschooled.” He added.
———-
Finally reaching the high school, with ten minutes to spare, He pulled into the parking space reserved just for him (His father had to fight to get him his own space, but he wasn’t surprised, he had offered them a great sum of money ) and turned off the engine.
They both remained quiet, only the soft sound of the radio around them, as Zé continued to look out the window, watching students rush by. After a moment, he decided to break the silence. “..Ok, we’re here. Do you..Want to get out, or…” Galdino trailed off. Zé let out a startling laugh, causing Galdino to jump.
“Pff! I have not been this early to school since the 6th grade!” He cackled and continued, calming down slightly, sighing, “Oh, thank you for driving me here, you couldve made me walk here, or just simply drived off without a word. Very kind of you.” He put a hand on Galdinos shoulder, wiping tear from his eye caused by his previous laughing fit.
This guy was so weird, Galdino thought, making a face. How embarrassing was it for the rooster to be seen in the same car as him.
Galdino sat still, glancing at the parrots hand, still on his shoulder. “Um..” he swallowed, “It’s-you know it’s-it’s no problem.” He scoffed, looking away while Zé chuckled.
“Hey, Zé!” Galdino heard someone yell from outside the car. The parrot in question whipped his head around to look, and he immediately sprang up and quickly opened the car door, getting out, and then shutting it behind him.
“Ei, guys! Hey, I will see you later, yeah?” He asked, through the cars rolled down window, leaning his arms on it. “I- Whatever. Maybe. If you’re lucky.” Galdino heard the words come out of his mouth. Did he just. Flirt?
Zé chuckled, before his eyes widened in realization. “Oh! I never asked for your name. How rude of me..” He put a hand on his forehead in embarrassment, shaking it as he laughed.
”Galdino.”
“Galdino?” He repeated back, like he was tasting it. “Hm. I like it. see you around, Galdino!” As he walked away to greet his friends.
Leaving Galdino alone, in his car, confused, scared, and some other feeling he would refuse to name or agknowledge. Because it wasn’t there. What a strange, disorienting morning. He felt more He assumed that was the shock not wearing off.
